1956 Ford Thames Deluxe 7CWT Van Transmission: manualMileage:4072Launched in 1954 as Fords answer to the success of the Morris Minor Commercial was the 'Thames' 300E which shared its bodyshell and 1,172 cc side valve four-cylinder engine with the Ford Squire estate. The van was offered as both a basic 5CWT model or a 'Deluxe' 7CWT panel van with 356kg of load carrying ability. This 7CWT example benefitted from an earlier restoration and is presented in two-tone brown coachwork which is evocative of its era but is now showing signs of age. Overall, the bodywork appears solid with the brightwork and trim in good order. The cabin is basic and functional and features tan leatherette seats which are protected by plastic seat covers that have a period appeal of their own. An original set of factory mudflaps complete the look. This rare Ford is presented to auction with a V5C registration document and offered without reserve. Given that there are fewer than 50 Thames 300E models known to exist, this must be an ideal opportunity for any Ford enthusiast or a perfect promotional vehicle for a small business.

1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:65290The Eldorado was the top of the Cadillac tree, the ultimate 'personal luxury car' a statement of your success and standing. The 1976 Eldorado featured four-wheel disc brakes and a few very minor styling changes over the 1975 models. It was the last year for the 500 cubic inch V8 (8.2 litres), the biggest production engine fitted to any car until the Dodge Viper of the late 90s and it was to be the case that 1976 was the last year for American-made convertibles. The Detroit big three expected the US government to legislate to stop convertible production, so all rag-tops ended in, or by, 1976. The government did not follow through with such legislation, but American manufacturers did not offer a home-grown convertible again until the mid '80s. Because of this sales were really strong for the 1976 Eldorado. In fact, Cadillac could have sold more but they ran out of roof frames and mechanisms. Many of these cars sold at a premium over list price as buyers fought to get hold of the last American convertible.Despite their popularity when new, finding a good example these days, for sensible money is easier said than done. In the US today, the best, low mileage examples are fetching $50,000 plus which is not good news for fans in the UK with today's exchange rate. Cosmetically the car offered here was restored circa 15 years ago and it has held up very well. The car was fully painted in a shade that is very close to the Cadillac offering of Dunbarton Green. A new white leather interior, new green carpets and new white vinyl top was installed at the same time. The vendor and predecessor profess to spending a small fortune on the car, but a labour of love, indeed the previous owner stated 'it is terrific to drive, great in traffic, great at speed, no problem in hot weather and the engine is so quiet that, at idle, you would be forgiven for thinking that it's not running. But, on the motorway is where this Eldorado comes into its own €“ it flies!'Below are details of the mechanical overhaul which took part between 2018-2020;Upgraded, re-cored radiator,New water pump,New battery,Distributor - new ignition components,Brakes:All calipers blasted clean, repainted and rebuilt with new sealsNew pads and discs all round (four-wheel discs standard on 1976 Eldo)New metal brake pipes and flexi hosesNew brake fluidFront hubs stripped, new lower ball joints fitted, new drive shaft boots both side, both CV joints greasedFront wheel bearings replaced/rebuiltRear wheel bearings repackedNew spark plugsOil and filter changeRebuilt alternatorFront indicators - both lamp units cleaned of corrosion, new bulbs, new flasher canNew off side head lamp unit.Four road wheels bead blasted, painted, four new white wall tyres (less than 1500 miles on tyres), wheels balancedRebuilt motor for power trunk pull downVacuum compressor rebuiltRebuilt rear suspension self-levelling unitHeads removedStrip, decoke, blast clean and de-carbon all valvesNew face valves, cut valve seatsBronze guide liners installedNew exhaust manifold gaskets and boltsRebuilt convertible top motor.Rebuilt motor for power drivers seat.

1972 Triumph GT6 Mk. III Transmission: manualMileage:44021Designed by Giovanni Micheloti, famed for the creation of many Italian exotics such as Ferrari and Maserati, Micheloti first penned the GT4 prototype, a Spitfire 4/Mk. I based GT car in 1963 utilising the Spitfires 1147cc engine. The styling of the car was met with great reviews, however the additional weight associated with the coupé shell meant that plans to put the car into production where shelved. In 1964 Triumph utilised the styling to create glass-fibre moulds which when grafted onto the race developed Spitfire 4/Mk. I led to great success, finishing 13th overall and first in Class at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans. Triumph decided to revisit the GT4 idea and in replacing the under-powered Spitfire 4 engine with the more powerful Triumph Vitesse two litre, six-cylinder engine, the GT6 was born and production of the Mk. I GT6 commenced in July 1966. During the course of the next four years the GT6 received a number of styling changes and mechanical developments, dramatically improving the handling and in October 1970 the GT6 Mk. III was introduced with a total of 13,042 units being built before the end of production in December 1973.Originally sold in August 1972, this sensational matching numbers Triumph GT6 looks utterly resplendent finished in the original Saffron Yellow (code 54) with a contrasting black interior (code 11) and features the glorious two litre straight-six engine which sends power to the rear wheels via the factory optioned four speed 'overdrive' gearbox. Purchased by a previous owner in circa 2012 he set about transforming the GT6 into the show-stopping example we are proudly offering, with works being carried out over a four-year period. The bodywork restoration was entrusted to DMS, Northampton who carried out a complete body-off chassis strip down and body rebuild, followed by a full respray. The paint finish is mirror glass smooth, with a reflection to match and is extended to the underside too which received the additional benefit of correct underbody anti-corrosion protection! Carrying on the works, DMS finished the chassis in Saffron Yellow too, giving a 'cleaner' underbody appearance. All mechanical/electrical components were stripped, checked for wear and either restored or replaced. The engine has been updated to run on unleaded fuel and the car also benefits from an electronic ignition conversion. The interior was completely stripped and then fitted with new seat covers, carpets, roof lining and dashboard, all of which were specialist sourced and to the correct factory specification. Last of all, a Webasto Hollandia tilt/lift-out sunroof was fitted. This is a simply stunning example of an increasingly desirable Triumph and absolutely fit for any collection worldwide.

2021 Volkswagen Transporter T30 Highline Camper Transmission: manualMileage:5020Volkswagen unveiled the updated T6.1 version of the T6 at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. Essentially a mid-cycle refresh, the main updates were electric power steering, which allows for the implementation of more driver assist functions compared to the T6. There were also minor styling updates in the form of a deeper front grille section. The T6.1 also has a new dashboard incorporating updated infotainment systems similar to those used in Volkswagen's passenger car range, and the ability to specify the 'Virtual Cockpit' fully digital instrument cluster first seen on the Golf and Passat. This stunning one owner T30 Highline was purchased by our vendor with the express intention of converting it to a bespoke camper and the results are stunning. The cost of the high specification manual T30 initially was £34,000 plus VAT alone. Specified in grey, our vendor had the van fully kitted with the 'Leighton Van Bodykit' with top of the line load rated alloy wheels with Bilstein Komfort Coilovers and no expense spared on the tyres.'No expense spared' is probably a good description for this example as Westdubs were commissioned for a two-birth pop top conversion. This plus the rock and roll bed, make a four-berth camper. The trim is a mix of leather and Alcantara and fully matched throughout. Camper goodies include captain drivers and passenger's seats on the swivel, top load fridge, gas burner and sink which is coupled to a solar 240v hook-up and diesel night heater, all give ultimate weekend practicality. To the side is a Fiama F45 awning and for fun a starlight roof, much like a Rolls-Royce. An upgraded stereo system with Alpine amplifier and speaker upgrade. We are sure there are more items to mention but naturally being such an expensive conversion, the van is also kitted with a Pandora Pro tracker and an alarm with remote start. The whole conversion plus van, bearing in mind it has covered a mere 5,000 miles, cost an estimated £85,000. There is no better way to travel and camp out under the stars whist still looking fantastic on road, this van not only looks great stood still but handles well regardless of the conversion with ample power from the T30 powerplant and good road handling with this stunning setup. This is a VAT qualifying vehicle so if VAT registered you can also make quite a saving!A list of the full upgrades to this van include;Smart beds 3/4 bed, crash tested, trimmed in Nappa leather and Alcantara to match the front seats CTEK battery to battery solar/240v hook-up charger under driver's seat200 watt black solar panel2kw diesel heaterFour x privacy windows with openersLeisure battery for off grid livingRGB lightingLOC 8 table systemFiamma F45 AwningDouble swivel caravans seat base to spin passengers bench round12mm ply flooring with black heavy duty alto finish240v sockets to rear and camping hook-upPop top lights with USB chargers for top bunk bedFibre optic ceilingDomestic double hob and sinkTop loading fridge £4,000 Evo motion design kitchenJohn Kleis car audio and securityAmp to power front alpine tweeter and door speaker upgrade Pandora Alarm, tracker, remote key start, app controlled unlock/start/lock costing £2,600GardX ceramic coating to all exteriorHeated front and rear windowsHeated mirrors, power folding, mapped to fold with one key clickMapped needle sweep on start-upRare factory fitted cab carpets Volkswagen rubber matsLeighton vans front splitterBlack gloss grille insertsBlack indicator side repeatersRear Leighton vans spoiler receipt attached at bottom20 € load rated alloys with top of the range tyres £5,000 alone!Bilstein Komfort Coilovers £1,800Install by Jtech automotive

2012 Land Rover Defender Double Cab Pick-up Transmission: manualMileage:20000The original Land Rover Series began production in Solihull in 1948 and until its decades-long production run ended in 2016, more than two million Defenders were produced, becoming a British automotive icon. Since production ceased, the revered model has been in increased demand from both collectors and those willing to use this tough, utilitarian vehicle in the way it was designed for. It was only in 1989, following the introduction of the all-new Land Rover Discovery, that the Defender received its own name. This was not only a marketing exercise; the new Defender received a raft of upgrades, along with a new turbo diesel engine that brought useful increases in power, torque, and fuel economy when compared with the old, normally aspirated diesel it was based on. Often boasting large 'Defender' logos, the Land Rover went through a continuous process of development, gaining disc brakes and power-assisted steering as standard during the 1990s, together with a host of other improvements. This beautiful unmodified Land Rover was originally supplied 28th September 2012. The specification of this double cab includes side steps and a rear pick-up cover, alarm system, rubber mud flaps, under ride protection bar, upgraded steel wheels and new tyres and tow ball with drop plates and electrics. Presented in Keswick Green, this example boasts the three-seat rear bench making this a genuine five-seater with the pick-up rear. Very well maintained with a current MoT test certificate with no advisories, indeed a check online shows us that this car has never had a single advisory which is testament to care of ownership from its two previous keepers and our vendor. A six-speed manual gearbox powers the 2.2 TDCi engine and we are advised this low mileage example drives as good as it looks, it has clearly been a well-cared for example. Supplied with a V5C registration document and recently installed side steps. These robust, go anywhere vehicles have become increasingly desirable in recent years and this great utilitarian vehicle is sure to be one that catches the eye.

1960 Triumph TR3A Transmission: manualMileage:55883The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1962 and was usually supplied as an open two-seater, although an occasional rear seat and bolt-on steel hardtop were available as extras. It was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to do so. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 became known for its superior braking ability, making it an autocross favourite.Presented in red with desirable white hardtop, this magnificent example of the iconic British sportscar boats just three owners in its entire life. Offered with a large history file which contains information going back to 1985 when the second owner, a Mr. Howard purchased the car requiring full restoration. The engine was rebuilt with the crankshaft re-ground and new liners and pistons fitted, along with unleaded valve seats with new valves and new springs. Electronic ignition was fitted and the gearbox completely overhauled with a new clutch for good measure. The front suspension was updated and braided hoses fitted alongside new side screens rebuilt with a matching hood and tonneau. The third owner fitted a front anti-roll bar, and all the suspension bushes were polybushed alongside narrow V-belt pullies (less friction) and alternator. The car then took part in numerous rallies such as the TR Register Pyrenees tour in 1995 and the Millennium Tour in 2000. In 2012, the car was completely stripped and painted by Bristol Classic & Sports Cars in Clevedon. Contained within the history file are approximately seven A4 size sheets of paper with 35 photographs per sheet recording the recommissioning in 2015, we believe this included twin choke Weber carburettors, servo brakes and electronic fuel pump before tuning on a rolling road. You will be pleased to know that the car comes with old logbooks, tax discs and the factory hardtop which was also restored in 2015.Looked after and cherished without regard to cost, this TR3A with overdrive performs amicably in rallies and the bills and invoices over the years add up to thousands and thousands. 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL California Transmission: automaticMileage:65513The stylish Mercedes-Benz W113 was presented at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show and replaced both the expensive 300 SL and entry-level 190 SL with one medium-priced two-seat sports car. The SL was a huge success, with 48,912 sold in nine years, and is now considered a true masterpiece. The body combines the elegantly trim look of contemporary Mercedes saloons with a simple grille derived from the 300 SL. Béla Barényi conceived the patented concave hardtop, soon called the 'Pagoda.' Like the best designs, the W113 has proven to be timeless in its appeal. We are pleased to offer this superb low mileage, three owner from new example which is an original and rare 'California Coupé', with the single bench seat as designated by option '417' on its factory record.Originally purchased in July 1969 by its first owner, a Mr. Luigi Bresciani an Italian ice cream manufacturer who ordered the Mercedes as a retirement present to himself. Interestingly Mr. Besciani ordered the Pagoda in UK right hand drive specification but had it delivered to his Italian residence. Later in 1972 he returned to England to join his family bringing the Pagoda with him. The Pagoda remained his pride and joy until 1982 when at the age of 80 he found his health failing and with great reluctance arranged for the car to be sold. At this stage, the car had covered some 51,000 miles. The car was then sold to its second owner, who at this time carried out various maintenance work to insure the car was ready for further use. The Mercedes was enjoyed for a further 8,000 miles and was taken around the country as well as on the continent. More recently 868 VC was purchased by our vendor at Historics auction for a figure of £113,200, elated by his purchase there were no thoughts to sell until he received the news that his driving licence was to be rescinded therefore he is forced to sell after a relatively short tenure.Offered with over four decades of single ownership, this superb example has covered a mere 65,513 miles and has had just three owners from new having been purchased recently for over £113,000. Accompanying the Pagoda is a sizeable history file with many documents, sundry bills, service records, MoT test certificates, and even the March 1983, edition of Classic and Sports which the car featured in!Having been dry stored since 1982, this Mercedes was last MoT'd in the early 2000's and has been used sparingly since but recently recommissioned by our vendor and running as it should. Presented in very good, preserved condition the paintwork retains a deep shine and shows little sign of age as does the interior and chrome work. Having covered little mileage from new and with a superb three owner history, this example represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire an ever-desirable right hand drive 280 SL Pagoda. We expect this wonderful example to be keenly contested at auction.

Lot 218

1999 Ferrari F355 F1 Berlinetta Transmission: automaticMileage:32300The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was an evolution of the Ferrari 348. It is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive, V8-powered two-seat coupé. At launch, two models were available; the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One major difference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the 355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The nomenclature does not follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. engine capacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 name comes from three litres plus eight cylinders, with the same for the 328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plus number of valves per cylinder; proud to boast about this technological advancement, with the name 355 coming from 3.5 litres engine capacity and five valves per cylinder. The F355 has become the most popular model so far with over 11,273 cars produced. This wonderful example was registered new on 5th March 1999 and is presented in the desirable colour combination of Rosso Corsa coachwork over a black leather interior. Showing a mere 32,300 miles on the odometer, this 355 is in stunning condition with very few blemishes. Recently treated to £11,000 of maintenance and service work completed by Italia Autosport less than 100 miles ago which included replacement cambelts, new front a rear brake disc and pads, a new AC compressor belt, new PPF film, the sticky interior parts replaced, as well as many other significant replacement parts.Accompanied by a huge history file containing a full service history, many sundry bills and invoices, the recent £11,000 service and maintenance invoice from Italia Autosport, its original Ferrari book packs including its all-important service booklet, its original Ferrari luggage, a current MoT test certificate valid until November 2023 and its V5C registration document. Fitted with a Challenge rear grille and unmarked alloy wheels, this superb example with its comprehensive history, is sure to be keenly contested at auction.  Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue the recent expenditure was undertaken in 2021. Since then, the car has done little mileage and been stored in the vendor’s private collection. Included in the sale is the Ferrari tyre pump and toolkit however no other luggage is supplied with the car.

1961 Lotus Elite (Type 14) Series 2 Transmission: manualMileage:65779The  incomparable Colin Chapman re-wrote the rulebook with many of his sports and racing cars. His focus though, was always weight. Combined with body-stylist and friend, Peter Kiran-Taylor in 1956, they developed the Lotus Elite. New in so many ways, but primarily  as a lighter-weight car, with  much  of the stressed chassis as fibreglass (GRP)  with  just a small amount of the load-bearing structure made of steel  to support  the famously spirited Coventry Climax engine. The Type II Elite Coupé proved a wonderfully agile driver's car, suitable for high-performance use on both road and track. The Bristol-bodied Elites were lighter and more robust than their Maximar predecessors and the Kiran-Taylor body form, fine-tuned by aerodynamicist Frank Costin, contributed to the car's low claimed drag coefficient of just 0.29.Although production finished for these cars in 1963, this example  was registered in 1965 and originally sold to a Mr. J. Cummings. It was the vendor who originally had an Elite in his youth and, despite a break where work and family took over, the hankering  for an Elite  never lost him.  A  very  competent trained engineer,  he eventually  found  a restoration project which, once purchased, was recovered back to Cornwall and stripped down. The bodywork was not too bad although the front subframe needed work. Indeed, a new one was obtained from Miles and Scott Bader followed by a Polyester powder coating and two coats of filler/primer and four coats of polyurethane acrylic finish applied to the entire car, including the engine bay and dash panel (although some attention would be required to now bring it back to showroom condition). The doors and windows have all been re-hung including all fixings and associated mechanisms. New front and rear screens and rubbers were also re-fitted as well as seals all the way round.Suspension units, front and rear, were also stripped and rebuilt with new bearings and bushes with 14 € wheels replaced with 15 € polished chrome wire wheels with 155x15 Firestone rubber all round. The brakes were completely rebuilt as expected with new callipers, pistons, seals, pads and hoses/pipework fitted to all four corners. After an oil pressure drop-off at 55,000 miles, the engine was stripped back and crank reground to -0.010 € with a new big-end and main shells. New cylinder liners were fitted with new piston rings as well as an adapter plate modified to take a conventional lip seal. A new timing chain has been installed with re-cut cylinder head-valve seats and re-ground inlet and exhaust valves.  The front and rear prop shaft universal joints have been re-built alongside a new crown wheel fitted with pinion bearings and half shaft bearings and differential mountings. A new clutch centre plate fitted with master and slave clutch cylinders was renewed in 1998 with a new diaphragm clutch cover fitted in 2002. According to the Elite World Register, based on the gearbox shift lever, it appears to have a MG Magnette gearbox, a not-unusual upgrade back in the 1960's, as are the twin Weber carburettors. The radiator has been flushed, tested and repainted with new hoses, thermostat and clips. A  new stainless-steel fuel tank is now fitted with all new stainless steel, armoured/braid PTFE fuel hoses running throughout. A completely new wiring loom is fitted with new solenoid, starter and dynamo brushes all replaced as necessary with all instruments checked. A new battery has been installed, complete with isolating switch. The exhaust system is now a stainless-steel unit with lugs bonded into the body. New silencers are now also fitted with replaced manifold studs. No expense has been spared with the interior as well;  all the seats and trim have been re-recovered, a new carpet set fitted,  plus  new high-specification, four- point seat belts fitted with reinforced mounting points. Underneath the seats, the slide mechanisms have been stripped and re-plated, the dash panel stripped and re-painted and the boot area re-trimmed and carpeted. The  car's comprehensive paperwork is extensive and is  provided in  a huge 64 litre plastic storage box. This includes a file of service parts, a Type 14 handbook, 'Lotus, the early years' by Peter Ross, a workshop manual file, a Lotus Club information file and 1974 register.  In addition, many Lotus Club magazines, two folders of Elite clippings and an extensive file relating to this car in particular. Finally, and interestingly, a boxed book entitled 'Lotus Elite, Racing Car for the Road' by Dennis Ortenburger. This is signed by the author on an actual 'chassis plate' inside the flyleaf alongside the actual chassis number, 1558.

1998 Mercedes-Benz CL600 Transmission: automaticMileage:85200The CL-Class is the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz car range. It continued to follow the same development cycle as the S-Class though riding on a shorter wheelbase and offered with only the higher-output powertrains. It was the first Mercedes to feature Active Body Control, Bi-Xenon headlights and, on the early V12 models it employed Active Cylinder Control. This shut down one bank of cylinders under light engine loads enabling it to achieve better fuel economy than the V8 CL500. Not bad for a car with a six litre V12 developing 367bhp and yielding a Soyuz-launching 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds. It is as a Grand Tourer that this model is primarily designed for though. With more rear seat space than many executive saloons, a huge boot and a truly cosseting driving environment, the CL is one of the most soothing cars you could hope to take on a long trip. The performance is remarkable and the turbine-smooth V12 is, frankly, epic.Originally registered on 25th October 1998, this Mercedes-Benz is in very good condition and is finished in dark blue coachwork over a two tone grey interior. The V12 engine burst into life when requested and ran exceedingly quietly and smoothly. The automatic gearbox offers seamless gear changes resulting in this being a car of supreme comfort to drive and excellent performance. This is possibly the nicest example we have seen. The paintwork retains a deep shine and the interior is excellent. The wheels are also in good order bar the odd blemish commensurate with the cars age. Supplied with its original Mercedes book pack with service book including a comprehensive Mercedes main dealer and Mercedes specialist service record with 13 stamps to show. Various old MoT records are also present as well as many sundry bills including a recent invoice of circa £1,000 for a new radiator, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 10th January 2024, this Mercedes-Benz CL600 is superb and is offered for sale without reserve and also comes complete with its private registration number 'P88 CAN'. This could well prove to be a shrewd purchase.

1944 Willys MB Jeep Transmission: manualMileage:5700The Willys MB U.S. Army Jeep and the Ford GPW Jeep were manufactured from 1941 to 1945 and are considered the iconic World War II Jeep and inspired many similar light-utility vehicles. With America enduring difficult economic times, the U.S. Army instigated a program to modernise its fleet with a 'general purpose, personnel or cargo carrier' especially adaptable for reconnaissance or command and designated as a ¼-tonne, 4x4 truck. Ford Motor Company, American Bantam Car Company and Willys-Overland Motors all competed for the government contract and American Bantam were the initial winners of the bid. However, the U.S. government were keen on standardisation and Willys' production capacity eventually won them the contract. Towards the end of 1941, Willys' facilities could not keep up with demand, so Ford were contracted to produce the Jeep under licence in addition through to the end of World War II. From 1942 to 1945, Willys produced over 360,000 Jeeps and parts used on Willys' MB Jeeps and Ford GPW Jeeps are completely interchangeable mechanically. This WWII-period 1944 Willys Jeep is finished in US Army colours and holds a wonderful authentic patina. It was imported from France many moons ago and kept in dry storage before being recommissioned and registered (new style V5C present) in the UK in 2017. The odometer reads just 5,700kms which is believed to be correct. Fitted with Combat rims, folding canvas roof, windscreen cover, rear bustle rack and an array of WWII-style accessories. Recent works include a new alternator conversion, carburettor rebuild and temperature gauge service alongside an oil change. Also, the driver's seat has been extended to accommodate the larger driver, something that often stops those 6ft plus from enjoying these excellent Jeeps. Naturally, it qualifies as a Historic Vehicle so is MoT exempt and there's zero Road Tax to pay. It is declared to be in excellent running order by its enthusiast owner. This WWII Willys looks every bit the part for both those looking for authenticity or simply a fun summer run-around.

1988 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE G-Wagon Transmission: automaticMileage:90991The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen, (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history with a span of 32 years. The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres, and fender flares. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking, and a tachometer become standard. This very original example is presented in metallic grey with cloth 'Recaro' interior and comes with automatic transmission, front grille mounted fog lights and a fitted tow bar. It had a 'short' engine replacement at 36,562 miles which is documented in the history file and the odometer is currently showing a mere 91,000 miles which is very low for a vehicle of its age. This iconic 4x4 was last used on the road in 2008 and has been dried stored ever since. This 280 GE has recently had light recommissioning which entailed new brakes, battery, alternator, fuel pump, new shock absorbers, the fuel tank refurbished and four new Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tyres. The interior is in nice condition with the added benefit of having the extra rear seats, therefore offering the nine-seat option which is extremely useful and electric windows to the front and rear. This Mercedes-Benz 280 GE is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2024, its original booklets, manuals, full set of overmats and a copy of its original data sheet. These 4x4 Mercedes-Benz have reached 'cult' status amongst enthusiasts.
