All items were officially exported from Hong Kong by shippers and handlers recommended and approved by the Mass Transit Railway Corporation of Hong Kong on 10th May 2003, with full documentation. Itemised inspection certificates - dated 24th February, 16th and 23rd April and 7th May 2003 (report No 0254/03) by J & H Surveying Co Ltd, Marine Surveyors - number and detail the items exported. A copy is available at Cheffins’ offices. The shipment arrived in Felixstowe, UK on 29th May 2003 and was received for transhipment by Redfern International Logistics of Leeds, recorded in their sales invoice no. IDSI2926, which details fees paid for the appropriate Sea Import Customs and Sea Import Documentation. A pair Sheraton Revival inlaid satinwood armchairs, circa 1900, with moulded top rail above a central inlaid tablet with carved bats wings above the cross slat back, with stuff over horsehair sprung seat, on bellflower inlaid square tapering legs terminating in spade feet, 54cm wide, 90cm highCondition report: A small piece missing to the rear base of a rear leg. Some old repaired cracks visible at the rear where the cross splats join the seat rail. Otherwise wear and tear commensurate with age, but overall a nice pair of chairs.

Charles F A Voysey (1857-1941) Arts & Crafts oak chair frame, circa 1902, of simple design with pierced heart-shaped motif to the splat. Please note this chair is currently in pieces, with damage to the joints, lacking seat and front stretcher. Provenance: by descent from the estate of the late Herbert John Claridge Turner (1910-1978), a Cheltenham resident. It was commissioned by Sydney Claridge-Turner, the secretary and general manager of the Essex & Suffolk Equitable Insurance Company. Voysey designed and fully furnished Turner's weekend home, The Homestead at Frinton on Sea. From the same estate came a pair of Voysey chairs sold in the Cirencester saleroom by the Cotswold Auction Company for £16,500 in March 2020. Condition ReportThere is a spot of damp that covers half the back of the top front rail as well as some of the front. There is a split to one of the chair joints, the front stretcher is missing as well as the seat. Please see extra images
