A longcase clock, the 33 cm arched square brass dial, with Roman numerals and calendar to the silvered chapter ring, the silvered centre with subsidiary seconds dial, the arch with a phase of the moon and inscribed The Man is yet unborn who duly weighs an hour, signed Thos Harrison, Liverpool, fitted an eight day movement, in a mahogany case, the hood with verre eglomise painted sections, 233 cm high (over finial) See illustration Condition report Report With pendulum and two brass cased weights. Report by RB From a local deceased estate. I have known the client and clock for about 15 years, during which time absolutely no attention whatsoever has been paid to it on running repairs. That being said, it appears at some point to have had quite a lot of restoration work to it. The dial is quite crisp, the blue steel centre to the revolving phase of the moon has light surface rust, the seat board is probably a replacement, and the case cheeks, where it sits, has also been altered. The hood: A small section of the verre eglomise is missing, the finials have been broken, and there is probably missing two roundels to the swan neck section, some damage/loss to the bottom of the inner columns, and slight loss to the capitals also. The trunk door is generally good and straight, and the base is slightly warped and split. Lacks feet. Report by GH More specifically there is a chip of the right hand piece of verre eglomise on the far left hand edge of approx. 1/2 cm. There is also some rubbing and loss to the gilt decoration on these panels. The chip is not visible unless standing on a raised platform. Again, we cannot confirm whether the moon dial works but all of the relevant workings are in place, and the rest of the movement operates.
