A Luba Hemba caryatid stool Democratic Republic of the Congo the standing female figure with her hands and head supporting the circular seat, her serene face and a relief band to her head with a flared coiffure having a grooved cross back, with pointed breasts and raised body scarifications, with scorched detailing, 39.5cm high. Provenance Hilaire le Clercq. Collected between 1914 and 1918 whilst he was based in Leopoldville, working for the Sociιtι Gιnerale. Christie's, London, Important Tribal Art, 29 June 1994, lot 142.
A like new Morris & Nolan (made in Walsall, West Midlands) English brown leather GP saddle, approx.17 inch, with a spring tree.This saddle has a broad deep seat that is well padded and comfortable with a round cantle (no scuffs). There are large knee blocks that are covered with a padded knee roll this will give the rider a good amount of support. There is a wool flocked panel that is soft and even throughout there is a generous wide gullet that will give good clearance either side of the spine. There are three standard girth straps. There is some wear to the flaps where the stirrup leathers have rubbed against the leather, but only to be expected and the girth straps are in good working order. (First and third straps minimal wear, second straps like new). All D rings are present and the flocking looks/feels smooth, no need to re-flock. This saddle has been well looked after. Also comes with a sturdy, three legged Stubbs saddle stand, black, approx. 33 inches high (2)Provenance; vendor selling due to retiring horse, purchased from new from Morris & Nolan.

A pair of French 19th Century giltwood framed two-seater settees, the moulded frames to an upholstered serpentine back and seat on cabriole legs and castors, 114cm wide/Provenance: Phillips 05.02.01 T0455 Lot 127/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: Very loose frame. Frames with some chips but in the main in good condition. Back caster of one settee broken. Upholstery faded.
