A set of eight ash and elm 19th century Gothic Thames Valley chairs with saddle seats and ring turned front legs united by stretchers, three chairs with impressed initials RW to the back of seats. Footnote: “ See Edwin Skull’s High Wycombe catalogue c 1849 with a similar arcaded top rail. The RW mark is possibly that of Richard White recorded in The English Regional Chair” as a chair maker in Easton St. High Wycombe in 1841.” Additional InformationEach with general surface wear and usual wear and tear throughout, chair one with natural splits to the seat, chair two has had a repair to the back corner of the seat and is slightly wobbly/uneven, chair three remains of old woodworm and the back joints are slightly loose, chair seat is slightly warped, chair four back stretcher is slightly loose but does have impressed initials RW to the back of the seat, chair five with loose back panel and split to seat, chair six has the remains of an old repair to the back corner but is strong and stable, chair seven back corner has been repaired and back panel is slightly loose and wobbly around the joints, chair eight has splits to the seat and around the joints of the frame, three of the chairs are impressed with the initials RW.
A 19th century rosewood sewing table with octagonal top on carved scrolling supports to quadripartite base and carved ball feet, 72 x 38.5 x 38.5cm, and a contemporary rosewood stool with barley twist stretchered supports and gold fabric upholstered seat, height 38cm, top 43 x 38cm (2).Additional InformationThere are some splits and chips to the sides of the upper section, some quite heavy scratches and gouges to top, further general wear to base commensurate with age and use as well as buildup of dust and dirt. The fabric has obviously been replaced. Stool with some scuffs to legs commensurate with age. The green lining to the basket exterior and yellow to the lining interior are replacements, the exterior somewhat frayed and tired, all supports appear original, no sign of worm, there are scuffs, scrapes, small abrasions, etc particularly to lower sections and feet, chips to the sewing table frieze with some splits also. There is a strange bubbling and varnished look to the under tier, this has had water damage, the table is only rosewood veneered, and some of the lost sections have had painted replacement repairs.

Georges Geffroy. A pair of cream painted directoire chairs from the 59-metre super yacht Gaviota IV owned by the Chilean millionaire Arturo López-Willshaw. In the 1950s Lopez-Willshaw commissioned the legendary French interior designer Georges Geffroy to decorate Gaviota IV.Geffroy, who was Christian Dior's interior designer, was described by Givenchy as a “purist” and “An eighteenth-century gentleman, one of a breed of decorators that is extinct today,” He was known for never accepting more than one job at a time so that he could devote himself entirely to each assignment. Gaviota IV was one of the most sumptuous super yachts of its era. Condition report: some paint losses and splits. staining to the seats. Height to the seat is 49.5 cm.
