Two early 19th century linen samplers by Sarah and Priscilla Hornby, each worked in crosstitch in coloured wools, with alphabet, the first dated March 12th 1835, the second dated March 13th 1835, the first 29cm x 24cm, the second 31cm x 24.5cm. The first sampler by Sarah Hornby is framed in a plain black frame, indicating that she died before the sampler was framed and displayed.
