A Dresden China dessert service, comprising six dessert plates, two comports, two serving plates, comport top, each pierced and handpainted with floral sprays in polychrome. Plate diameters 22 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The 6 dessert plates are all in first class condition with no damage, no repair and no restoration. The colours are strong and the gilding very good. The serving plates are also both in very good order. There is a tiny firing mark on the outer edge of one plate which looks like a small 4 mm hairline crack. This is barely significant. The small comport is in first class condition with no problems. The large comport has a very faint L shaped hairline crack in the bowl but other than this the piece is in good order. The shallow bowl is the only piece that has had a repair. There has been a break to the top rim of the piece and a semi professional repair is evident with some overpainting. This break is approximately 1 inch in length and has clearly yellowed. This is the only real issue to the surface.
A George III silver pair cased verge pocket watch, with picture dial by Jn. Blaylock of Carlisle, circa 1780, key wind, Serial No. 2029 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement is inscribed Jn. Blaylock 2029. The inner case is hallmarked London 1780 as is the outer case. The hallmarks correspond as do the makers initials KP. The case dial and movement appear to match and the pillars on the movement would indicate a date circa 1780. The outer case is in generally good order. It shuts as it should. The watch glass has minor chips around the outer edge at the edge of the bevel. These are more visible from the interior. The dial appears to be in first class condition. The pointers are original. The outer case is in good order and the hallmarks clear and legible. There is some solder beneath the handle on the inside edge of the case presumably to stop the handle from pivoting. The movement appears to be clean and is currently ticking away.
A Mappin & Webb Limited mantle clock, by Elliott Clocks, walnut case, silvered brass dial, captive key wind. Height including carrying handle 9 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in first class condition. The brass surround to the dial is a little tarnished and has lost some of its lacquered surface. The clock face is in very good condition. The movement appears to be overwound and the clock is not currently ticking.
A Victorian mahogany four door breakfront sideboard, with rear pediment. Width 88 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The rear upstand is in first class condition. The sideboard top is of good colour with no serious splits or veneer damage. There are some ring marks and minor scuffs but no significant issues. The drawer fronts are all in good condition. The sides are in good order. The panelled doors are all in good condition. The plinth base is generally in good order also with only minor blemishes as one would expect.
Six cabinet cups and saucers, two Hutschenreuther, one Meissen with blue crossed swords mark, one Rosenthal Classic Rose, one Karlsbader and another Rosenthal. CONDITION REPORT: These are all in first class condition with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. The gilding is good in all cases.
A George III mahogany serpentine fronted chest of drawers, with boxwood strung edge above four long graduated drawers with brass knob handles, with cockbeading to each drawer front, bone lock escutcheons and raised on tall splayed bracket feet. Width 38 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This chest is in first class condition. The top is flat and of good colour and there are no issues with the boxwood stringing or crossbanding. All drawer fronts are in basically good order. There is a small veneer loss just below the bottom right hand corner of the third drawer. All cockbeading is present. Both front bracket feet have small triangular veneer repairs which should be visible on our image. The sides of the piece are in generally good condition with only minor stringing losses to the right hand side. The feet are original as are the back boards.
