Three letters sent to Marshal Soult in 1813 and 1814 (2). The first a 3 page letter on 11 Division headed stationary from the Chief Commissaire Ordonnateur and signed, the second sent by his ADC Colonel J.Baptiste Bory de Saint-Vincent on 9th April 1814 at Montauban ie the day before the Battle of Toulouse and signed. He tells Soult of his efforts to try to organise partisan units in spite of the hostile opinion of the public. The third again from his ADC and signed, dated 12 April 1814, two days after Wellington defeated Soult at the Battle of Toulouse. It records that an English letter arrived announcing a general peace and that the news spread by this letter put everyone "in the air and the impulse it gives is to be feared" The letter now tells Soult that the war has ended on the abdication of Napoleon.
