THE DAMBUSTERS, 617 SQUADRON, important and probably unique small format autograph album presented to James Brown Junior, son of James Brown MB ChB, Senior medical officer for 617 Squadron, stationed at Scampton and Swinderby, on his 9th birthday, 8th October 1942; signatures include Dambusters, other members of 617 Squadron and other RAF Squadrons, RCAF, and gallant Airmen, etc, including, DAMBUSTERS R.C. Hay F/O RAAF DFC & bar, K.I.A. 12.2.44 K.I.A. 13.2.44 according to official record, Bomb Aimer in the ANZAC Crew, AJ-P First wave, third aircraft to attack Möhne Dam. Mine veered left after dropping and exploded at side of dam. Studied at Trinity College, Oxford part of winning crew of the 1938 Boat Race. Acquired nickname "Dinghy" after coming down in the sea twice and surviving in inflatable dinghies. Transferred from No.57 Squadron to No. 617 Squadron. Young together with Henry Maudsley carried out much of the organizing work needed to form a new squadron. On the night of the 16/17 May 1943, the raid took place. Young flew Avro Lancaster ED877/G AJ-A (code-named "A-Apple"). A-Apple flew as part of the first wave which attacked the Möhne Dam. Young was second in command of the raid, which was led by Wg Cdr Guy Gibson. A-Apple was fourth to attack and hit the dam, causing a small breach. On the return journey, A-Apple was brought down by anti-aircraft fire, probably by gunners at Castricum-aan-Zee, who reported shooting down an aircraft at 2.58am. The bodies of all seven crewmen were washed up on the Dutch coast over the subsequent days and were buried in the Bergen General Cemetery, Bergen, North Holland. W.C. Chinese carved padouk wood jardiniere stand with octagonal top inset with marble on carved scroll legs and pierced and carved frieze and stretchers, 46cm high x 49cm wide. CONDITION REPORT: Two natural cracks to marble top, one is the width of the top. Four joints to top wood rim, slightly spring. One piece of wood edge to marble is missing, triangular shape circa 2cm x 2cm x 2cm. First tier joints slightly open, one very split open. One leg/stretcher joint rather open another slightly open. Some horizontal joints at top rim slightly open/displaced.
A 19th Century Chinese Sterling Silver Trophy Cup, twin handled and chased with figural scenes to top band and bamboo decoration to bottom band. Vine fruit to the base, with domed lid decorated with crane finial. The inscription reads "Bowling Match Canton" First Prize presented by Schmidt of Shanghai-May 1889 to Mr Arthur Dowler, approx 636 gms, stamped SS with further character marks. A pair of 18 ct white gold three claw stud earrings, set with diamonds weighing approximately 3.09 carats. CONDITION REPORT: The diameter of each diamond is approximately 7.5 mm. In our opinion they are not drawing much colour at all. The condition is first class and the studs look not to have been worn.
A Liberty & Co. catalogue of Cymric silver, circa 1905, and a catalogue of Rene, Lalique issued by Breves, Lalique Galleries 1928. CONDITION REPORT: The Cymric catalogue is loose at the spine and all of the interior pages are loose. All pages appear to be present. The outer cover is in generally reasonable condition with some rubbing to the spine, various stains and old ink marks. The interior pages are a little foxed but not significantly. All pages are somewhat yellowed. The Lalique catalogue is 16 pages in total and appears complete. The loose accompanying pages appear to have some sections missing. These are page 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 20, 27, 33, 36, 39. The last page is 52. There is also a further three page fold out section on car mascots. The outer dust jacket is generally dirty and yellowed. The interior pages are also a little yellowed but in generally good condition with no significant issues. We can see no evidence of any foxing. The Kupron catalogue is in generally reasonable order. There are scuffs down the spine and at the corners of the outer cover. The interior binding is loose and whilst the centre section is all in one piece it is detached from the back. There is some discolouration to the front edge of the first page but the remainder is in generally good order.
Two American presentation swords, the sabre stamped "Horstmann, Philadelphia" and verso "Germany" with foliate engraved blade, complete with two certificates to Charles Lumb of The City of Philadelphia, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Executive Department", one with envelope verso containing other information relevant to Charles Lumb, Battalion Adjutant, First Lieutenant State Fencibles Battalion Infantry. One scabbard inscribed "Presented to Adjutant Chas. F. Lumb by Co. C State Fencibles 1897" (see illustration).
Two pairs of binoculars, opera glasses and a folding camera. CONDITION REPORT: The large pair of binoculars are as they look in the image. That is well used. All lenses are present and correct but appear very dirty and there are scratches when the binoculars are looked through. The smaller pair of binoculars are again generally well used and dirty however the lenses are not scratched like the first pair. All lenses are present and correct. The case is tatty. The opera glasses operate as they should and all lenses are present and correct. The camera appears to be in good order with no significant issues and is in generally clean condition.
A Victorian mother of pearl card case, with segmented interior. 10.2 cm x 7.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally first class condition with no damage, repairs or restoration. The interior is generally good order with only one of the interior dividers detached from the side fabric. This is a minor issue. The case closes and hinges as it should.

CONDITION REPORT: The first lustre has a chip to the rim approximately 12 mm x 6 mm this is on the inside of the lustre. The gilding and decoration is generally rubbed and tired to the entirety. The second lustre has similar issues with the decoration also where one of the exterior bands of lustres joins the body a section has been knocked out and reglued in approximately 14 mm x 8 mm. Our auctioneer has commented as follows:- Lot 82: The first lustre has a chip to the rim approximately 12mmx6mm this is on the inside of the lustre. The gilding and decoration is generally rubbed and tired to the entirety the second lustre has similar issues with the decoration also one of the exterior bands of lustres joins the body, a section has been knocked out and re-glued in approximately 14mmx8mm.
A Regency brass strung bracket clock, twin fusee, by Spink & Son, 2 Great Church Street, London. Width 28.5 cm, height including finial 51 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in first class condition with no issues. The brasswork is all in good order and original. The side grilles are in good condition. We have the side case key which operates the door. The dial is in need of refurbishment. There is overpainting between the numerals 10 & 11 and 1 & 2. There are also scuffs around the edge of the dial. The Spink & Sons name & address looks to have been repainted at some time. The movement seems generally very clean. It winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking. The only real issue with the clock is the need for face refurbishment.
A pair of Continental porcelain figures, lady and gentleman, a Helena Wolfsohn Augustus Rex cup, saucer and small bowl and five Dresden coffee cups and saucers. Figure height 12 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The pair of figures are both in good order with no issues. There is no damage, repairs or restoration. The cup, saucer and matching bowl are all in good order with no issues other than minor rubbing to the gilding. Four of the five saucers are in first class condition. The fifth has an old riveted repair to a hairline crack which is just visible from the top surface but clearly visible underneath. Three of the coffee cups are in first class condition. Two have old riveted repairs which are clearly visible.
A George III oak longcase clock by Hugh Lough of Penrith, with 11 inch silvered brass dial, 30 hour movement and date aperture, with crossbanded trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 190 cm. CONDITION REPORT: In our opinion this clock is not a marriage. The dial matches the movement and the movement matches the case. The mask around the dial fits perfectly. The case is in generally first class condition. There are two very minor losses to the top of the cornice at the left hand corner and front right hand corner. The remainder of the hood is in very good order. The trunk door is not warped. There is a small loss approximately 3 inches below the lock escutcheon on the left hand side moulded edge. The base is in very good order as are the feet.
