The isssue with c2 correctly signed. Peter Williams is best remembered for his annotated edition of the Welsh Bible, 1770, which was the first Welsh Bible to be printed in Wales. A George II silver bowl. Edinburgh 1757, makers Lothian & Robertson, Assay Master Hugh Gordon, of circular form with shaped and engraved border above an ovoid moulded girdle and engraved crest, set on a circular stepped foot, weight 9oz 5in (13cm) diameter, 3.5in (9cm) high. * Although assayed in Edinburgh the crest and coronet are those of an English Earl - The Earl of Ashburnham. In 1730 John, Baron Ashburnham, a favourite courtier of Frederick, Prince of Wales, was elevated to the title Earl of Ashburnham.. After six years he was succeeded in this title by his son, also John born in 1724. John, 2nd Earl of Ashburnham, received the royal appointments of Keeper of St James's and Hyde Park in 1753 and in 1775 that of First Lord of the Bedchamber to George II.

A pottery charger by Frank Brangwyn (1867-1957) the large circular charger painted in black with a man supporting a large implement with black lined rims monogrammed FB and incised Ditchling 1926" (a/f) 17.25" diameter. . Brangwyn was born in Bruges in 1867 the son of an Anglo-Welsh architect and ecclesiastical designer; he worked in his fathers workshop and then became an apprentice to William Morris in 1882. He spread his talents over a variety of outlets including painting print making drawing and design and was also a respected mural artist. During the First World War Brangwyn played an important part as a propaganda artist and provoked controversial reactions to his work which depicted the harsh reality of war. Brangwyn increasingly ignored developments in art and continued in his own manner adapting traditional methods to suit his own personal style. He ended his career as he had begun devoting his time to religious art and applied design.
A pair of Doulton Lambeth stoneware vases decorated by Hannah Barlow circa 1895 each of baluster form below a tapering slender neck the body incised with a continuous frieze of a shepherd and his dog watching over his flock the other similarly decorated the shoulders decorated with stylised foliage and glazed in mottled tones of green blue and brown impressed mark numbered 4781 monogrammed and incised L.R.386" and 505" 9.75" high (2).. Hannah Barlow b.1851 one of nine children studied at the Lambeth School of Art in the late 1860s. In 1871 she and several other students (along with her brother Arthur) were employed by the Lambeth Pottery of Royal Doulton to decorate stoneware to her own designs and patterns. She became quickly known for her sgraffito style of decoration and despite losing the use of her right hand in her early twenties she learnt to use her left hand just as proficiently. Hannah holds a prominent place in the history of British Ceramics as the first female artist/designer (as opposed to general painter) to be taken on by a major British pottery.
