Extremely rare 1st ed of little remembered Irish early nineteenth-century author Thomas Ashe. Copac locates only 4 copies of this ed, one of which is in Trinity college. 3 Vols complete. A book which garnered some notoriety when first published in 1811, as it was believed to have been a thinly veiled account of the relationship between George IV and Queen consort, Caroline, it went through four editions by 1812, and its 7th by 1820. Also of note was the swashbuckling career of the author Thomas Ashe himself. The title page of each volume is inscribed by Sir Pryse Pryse of Gogaddan, Wales. [3].

An unopened bottle of Arctic Expedition beer dated 1875, with original intact label and contents. Allsopp's Arctic Ale was brewed for The British Arctic Expedition of 1875. The Expedition was an attempt by the British Admiralty to reach the North Pole and included two ships HMS Alert and HMS Discovery under the leadership of Vice-Admiral Sir George Nares (1831-1915). Unfortunately the expedition failed to reach the pole but succeeded in mapping the coast lines of Greenland and Ellesmere Island. Nares, in taking both ships successfully north through the channel between both land masses became the first explorer to do so and the channel was named 'Nares Strait' in his honour.
