Dargai Heights interest, India General Service, 1895-1902, three clasps, Relief of Chitral 1895, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98, (3501 Pte I S Weight 1st Btn Gord Highrs) Private Weight was severely wounded in action, receiving a gun-shot wound to the left foot and buttock, during the Gordons’ famous assault and capture of the hilltop stronghold known as the ‘Dargai Heights’ on the 20th October 1897, where Piper George Findlater and Private Edward Lawson won the Victoria Cross. The lot comes with the Army Form B. 179 Medical History of an Invalid detailing the injuries to him and further detail on the extent of the injuries and his discharge due to them, also in the lot two cabinet card photographs, the first taken in England, the Second in India

ST JOHNS AMB-BDE) First World War trio (255 S/SJT W Little R.A.M.C.) with Death Plaque, 1887 Jubilee medal (PRIVATE W. LITTLE) Territorial Efficiency Medal (255 SJT. W. LITTLE 3/E.A.F.A. R.A.M.C.) and St John Ambulance Medal for South Africa (218 PTE W. LITTLE. MET CORPS) QSA and bars confirmed on roll, Roll of Honour extract; Little, Walter, Quartermaster-Sergt., No. 255, 3rd East Anglian Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps, 8. of Walter j. Little, of Lottenham, by his wife, Hetty (-); b. Bethnal Green, London, E.; educ.there:volunteered for active service, and joined the R.A.M.C; served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in Egypt, and died at Giza Red Cross Hospital 17 March, 1916, from acute pneumonia, contracted while on active service. Buried in Cairo Old Cemetery. His Officer Commanding wrote: "His loss is deeply mourned by the Officers and men of this Field Ambulance. He was one of the steadiest, most reliable and hard-working N.C.O's that any commanding Officer could possible wish for.... Your husband had gained the profound respect and esteem of us all;" a comrade also wrote: " In losing him we have lost one of our finest men in the company." He m. at Haggerston, E.. Charlotte (65, Woodside Gardens, Bruce Grove, South Tottenham, N.) dau. of Richard John Lean, and had two children: Walter Stanley and Gladys Joyce.
Boer War First War group of five, awarded to the QSA W.C. WRIGHT. BOY 1st CL H.M.S. SYBILLE, the First War Trio awarded to 204333 W.E. WRIGHT P.O.R.N. together with the George V Naval Long Service Good Conduct medal, The Sybille was the only Royal Navy ship to be lost during the Boer War when she ran aground in bad weather off Lambert’s Bay on 16 January 1901. The Captain was ashore at the time - some reports had it that he and other Officers were attending a party - four Officers were subsequently found guilty at a court-martial for her loss. The crew abandoned the Sybille after she struck a reef during the night and were taken off in five boats, a process that took ten hours, one man being lost

First World War Mons trio Military Medal group of four, the M.M. and Mons Trio (11531 L/Cp H. Dixon 17 L: POOL. R.) together with an Imperial Service Medal named to Harry Joseph Chester. A record from the War Diary or Intelligence Summary states as follows Lieut. A. Chavasse and 8 other ranks left our trenches to patrol German front line, with the object of ascertaining dispositions of enemy, obtaining identification and killing occupants. This patrol on meeting enemy wire encountered a German patrol which opened fire on them wounding Lt Chavasse. Own patrol withdrew to own lines. Lieut. Chavasse was missing and Captain A.I.Draper, Captain C. E. Torrey, Captain F. B. Chavesse (Ram.c.), Second Lieut. C. A. Peters and Lieut. CPE H. Dixon (1135) searched no man's land for him. During the search Captain C.E. Torrey was wounded and taken into own trenches. 2 Lieut C.A.Peters and L/CPE Dixon discovered Lient. Chavasse in a shell hole. 2 Lient. Peters was killed when returning to own lines for assistance to carrying a wounded Officer in. L/CPE Dixon remaining to bandage his wounds. After awaiting the arrival of the necessary assistance L/CPE Dixon returned for stretcher bearers to carry Lieut. Chavasse in but on going back the party were unable to find the Officer and had to retire on account of dawn breaking. The 5/7/17 Battalion holding front line l?CPE Dixon plus 3 men left own trenches to search for Lient. Chavasse. Captain F.E. Chavasse also went to cross no man's land in an endeavour to find his brother, but the wounded Officer was not discovered. The body of 2 Lient. C.A.Peters was carried to our lines by another party.

WOODEND RAF) Lieutenant Woodend had a mid air collision in his Bristol F.2B Biplane after his plane locked together with another and crashed on the 19th August 1918. Italian soldiers serving on the French front found two bodies of British Airmen near the village of Clery, Lieutenant Woodend's body could not be identified and was exhumed on the 2nd February 1921
