Owned by a family from Bitton / Warmley, the collection (likely that of the parents in the household) features hundreds of cards, many WWI First World War interest and sent home from the men of the family. Towards the back of the album are postcards from India, and a good selection of humour cards. Cards of note include: many real photo family occasion photographs, mostly taken by Pluckett of Kingswood but some other local photographers, Wedding photo of a lad with ' Minesweeper ' hat, ' Cadbury Heath Council School Babies ' (Edwardian), early Transport interest, large group photos, charabancs, what appears to be a WWI regiment football team with their trophies, Officers Non-Coms and Men of C Company 4th SOmerset Light Infantry En Route For India Oct. 1914, real photo cards of regimental boxing matches, postcards from a WWI Sheffield hospital depicting soldiers and nurses with inscriptions from family members to reverse ' thank you for the fags, glad to say I am going on fine!' Real photo card of ' Golden Valley Nurseries, Bitton ' staff and workers, other Somerset 4th Light Infantry photos, a photograph of a group of miners (likely from Sheffield ) written by a young lad and sent home to Warmley, postcards sent home from India, views of a house (likely the family home), Lucy Moore ' The American Fat Girl, Still Growing! ', HMS Grafton crew member, views of soldiers, First World War Humour, Suffragette interest (humour) and others. Large album, filled. 400+ cards. Some loose.

Written for & inspired by, Vita Sackville-West, to whom the book is dedicated & who appears as Orlando at various life-stages in several of the book's photographs. Considering Woolf's time, an extraordinarily courageous achievement in English letters & fantastic literature. Published by Macmillan & Co 1893. Beautiful red morocco covers, with gilt borders and panel work to front and verso. Signed / inscribed by the author, Lewis Carroll, to the frontis ' Catherine E Lloyd, with the regards of her old friend, the Author,' and then dated Dec 27, 1893. Finished with a flamboyant swirl, in the hand of the author. Carroll most famously wrote ' Alice's Adventures In Wonderland .' Very rare copy of this book, even rarer with inscription in the hand of Carroll.
