Bernard Lee signed 4x3 album page. John Bernard Lee (10 January 1908 - 16 January 1981), known as Bernard Lee, was an English actor, best known for his role as M in the first eleven Eon-produced James Bond films. Lee's film career spanned the years 1934 to 1979, though he had appeared on stage from the age of six. He was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Lee appeared in over one hundred films, as well as on stage and in television dramatizations. He was known for his roles as authority figures, often playing military characters or policemen in films such as The Third Man, The Blue Lamp, The Battle of the River Plate, and Whistle Down the Wind. Whilst the paper itself appears to be basically sound, there are some areas of discolouration and the glueing to the binding appears to have dried, leaving some of the plates and pages loose. See images for examples."British Butterflies" - the cover appears slightly faded and spine particularly so. Some areas of denting and loss to the corners. There is what appears to be a cut mark to the first inner page. Again plates and pages basically appear sound. Colour slightly browned but glueing to the binding dried and therefore some of the pages appearing loose and would be worse if opened fully.

Chronological and Historiographical of England and Wales...,'. This example - published by John Lenthall - was the third and final edition of these cards and can be identified by the decorative borders.Robert Morden’s set of playing cards was published in 1676 as a pack of fifty-four cards, including a title and explanation card. The Welsh and southwest counties of England are spades. There was a second edition published in the same year but they are considered comparatively rare. There was a third edition published in 1680 in partnership with Joseph Pask but these were in a bound volume, and finally in 1773 by H. Turpin, but this edition has no suit marks (to discourage gambling).

Commentarii Linguae Graecae, Cologne, Johann Soter, 1530, [28], 595, [5] pages (AA-BB4,rr1-6,a-z6,A-Z6,Aa-Dd6), text in Greek and Latin throughout, title with large printed woodcut device (with Soter's pentagram device incorporating five individual letters in Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Ethiopic, encircled by the words 'Symbolum Sanitatis' within a decorative architectural outer border), near-contemporary ownership inscription at head 'Thos Weston: pre:- 14s 00d', minor soiling to title and first and last few leaves, woodcut initials, additional smaller printer's woodcut device to verso to final blank, additional ownership signatures to front blanks of 'Jo. Alexander' (late 16th or 17th century), and D. L. No copy of this edition by Soter located in the UK.French Renaissance humanist Guillaume Budé (1467-1540) was the most influential French scholar of the early 16th century. The Commentaries on the Greek Language first published in Paris a year earlier is 'a collection of lexicographical, philological, and historical notes, which formed the basis for the study of the Greek language in France. A monument of the New Learning, it was several times reprinted and gave Budé the reputation which is now commemorated in the Collection Budé series of modern reprints of Greek and Latin classics which now numbers more than 800 volumes. In his dedicatory preface to Francois I, the author reminds the King of his promise to establish a Royal College for the study of ancient languages, an appeal which led to the founding of the College Royal (also in 1530), today known as the Collége de France.

The second companion work in this extended edition contains paragraphs about those responsible for destroying 'noisome foule & vermine' and officials concerned with the poor and with prisons.
