Original oil painting on canvas MIDNIGHT TRAIN by Don Breckon depicting Western Region Castle 4-6-0 number 5069 Isambard Kingdom Brunel hurtling through the rain at night. This specially commissioned painting was a first for the artist and he produced a similar style smaller painting of a Coronation Pacific as a study first (see other lot). Complete with all relevant paperwork. Nicely framed measures 34in x 25in. In excellent condition, also includes a preliminary sketch dated 93.

The set of covers is framed and glazed. Together with two original large locomotive transfers as carried on Locomotive 47500 for the launch of the stamps and driven by Driver Yates.

First charger with section of rim broken out and restuck and with associated hairline crack. Pair of charges - one with restoration to rim, the other with small chip and associated hairline crack. Case and bracelet with light surface scratches, bezel insert with small scratches and slightly slightly faded in parts, plexi glass with scratches, dial with the first digit 6 of the 660ft very slightly chipped to the paint which is visible under an eyeglass, hand setting correctly, movement is clean, movement in going order.
