The larger example again with surface wear to foot rim and body, a couple of bubbles in the glass.

Three 19th century brass oil lamps, the first with tapered milk glass shade and clear reservoir, the second with foliate relief motif cranberry shade and cranberry reservoir with milk trailing and the third with large ruby shade with crimped rim, height of tallest 69cm (3).Additional InformationTapered shade with nibbles and fritting to both rims. The cranberry shade with chip to the upper rim with further nibbles, as well as further nibbles and fritting to the lower rim. The ruby shade with fritting to the lower rim and a small chip. The reservoirs both with surface scuffs, abrasions, inclusions and imperfections, some fritting to the cut aspects of the clear example. All the bases with some knocks, pitting, discolouration, etc. The squat base particularly worn. None tested, no guarantee of working order.

The smaller box with a large piece of the rim missing and a large crack under the base section and large areas of loss. The rectangular example with minor chips, musical box with general wear, especially to the printed detail, but does appear to working when the report was given, although this is no guarantee that the item is in working order.

LIVERPOOL; two 18th century blue and white porcelain coffee pots, each of baluster form, the first depicting a figure in landscape setting, height 26cm, the second with floral sprays, together with a further 18th century coffee pot, height 29cm (3).Additional InformationThe covered Liverpool example with a large crack terminating from the top rim into the body, which almost runs the whole length of the pot. Firing faults to the handle, chip to the spout, chips to the underside of the cover. The second Liverpool example with numerous chips to the spout, heavy crazing, very tight small hairline crack terminating from the rim. The unmarked coffee pot with old repair to finial of the cover, also numerous chips to the underside. Old chips and staining to the spout, heavy crazing.

Greiner', and the second with blond hair in green fur trimmed coat, both with impressed KPM and sceptre marks to reverse, both 17.7 x 13.1cm, both now with separate gilt foliate frame (2).Additional InformationSome historic dirt, dust and possible scuffs and marks to the edges where they have rubbed against their mounts, some further surface wear, some light pitting, scuffs and marks, surface dirt and old historically applied sellotape and adhesives to the backs which has been used to keep them with later applied card and paper protection to the reverse of the frames. The frames themselves heavily worn as well.

Themes include the 50th anniversary of the RAF; the first Scheduled Hovermail on the Portsmouth to Isle of Wight Service in 1981; Suffragette interest with the 50th anniversary of the granting of votes to women; the Bicentennary of Captain James Cook's Voyage of Discovery in 1768; Concorde; and the 350th Mayflower Anniversary. One box includes a number of duplicates of Solent Model Railway Group Eurotrack 1990 event at Southampton Guildhall. There are also two unopened packets (each containing an estimated 25 of the same First Day Covers) of the Chichester Cathedral postcard to honour Sir Francis Chichester's solo voyage around the world in Gipsy Moth in 1967. See the photograph. Condition generally good, although a few of the envelopes have minor bends/faults.

A selection of Portsmouth area cards - nearly all of the city and harbour - in a box containing a number of desirable postcards, and two modern albums with modern cards with a maritime and nautical theme, as well as a number of standard Golden Age and older cards.The box contains approximately 89 real photographic and printed cards, including those in our first three photos which are among the more eye-catching ones in the box. Many are in plastic sleeves. Others are loose. They include two views of the interior of the town railway station; the Bat and Ball pub at Hambledon; two nice cards of Rowlands Castle; the bus terminus at Cosham; two PCs of HMS Vernon; a Commercial Road shopfront; HMS Nelson entering the Harbour; and HMS Royal Oak sailing past HMS Victory. The publishers include Stephen Cribb, Wright and Logan, Cozens, Marshall of Waterlooville. Other views include the Guildhall, John pounds House, North End, Buckingham House, Unicorn Gate, Kingston Church and Southsea Common, with LL, Tuck, Sweasey and Valentine amongst the other publishers. Some cards have faults but most are in good collectable condition.Of the modern albums, (1) contains approximately 100 cards and small photographs, of which around 70 are modern and 30 standard size. The modern cards are ferries, hovercraft and sailing ships. The vintage cards have views of the floating dock, paddle stammers, Portsmouth Harbour views and Harbour Station Pier. The cards are generally in good condition, and a mix of real photo and printed cards. Five are published by Levy and Sons (LL) of Paris, and there is a Stephen Cribb card of Clarence Pier.The second album (2) is damaged, mainly because it's so packed with cards and leaflets to promote Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. It contains approximately 120 cards, which are mainly modern but there are around 20 older cards including one by Stephen Cribb of the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert and HMS Victory. There's also a real photographic card of the wooden HMS St Vincent at sea; and a printed card of Scott's 'Discovery' in Portsmouth. But most of the cards are modern, and comprise the Mary Rose, HMS Warrior and HMS Victory, with a couple of the Foudroyant. The cards are generally in good condition - with most of the modern cards near mint.

Lot 263

Approximately 94 David and Charles maps - all reprints of the first edition of the one-inch Ordnance Survey maps of England and Wales. 76 are unopened and in their original packets, and their condition is presumed as good. The other 18 maps have been removed from their packaging and some have minor creasing to corners of the front and/or backs.
