The story of the legendary outlaw is portrayed with the characters as humanoid animals. Design features illustrations of the films characters walking on a woodland path. Original vintage ballet magazine centerfold from La Vie Parisienne, 16 June 1917 for Nitchevo-revue of Les ballets russes en 1917. Ballet Russe in 1917: Pablo Picasso designs the sets, costumes, and curtain for Parade, his first ballet for Diaghilev. Picasso creates designs for five Ballets Russes productions between 1917 and 1924 as well as drawings for programs. The Ballets Russes premieres two works at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris: Contes Russes and Parade. Diaghilev commissions Giacomo Balla to create a light show that is projected on a geometrically designed set to preexisting music by Igor Stravinsky. The work, called Feu d'Artifice (Fireworks), premieres in Rome. Massine's ballet Les Femmes de Bonne Humeur is premiered on the same program. The Ballets Russes tours South America and is joined by Vaslav Nijinsky, who returns to the company for the last time. Nijinsky insists that he be paid in cash prior to each performance. At the end of September, he performs his last public performance, which takes place in Montevideo, Uruguay. Great illustration show a detailed rendition of a ballet performance. Original vintage travel advertising poster for Union Line Steam Ship company of New Zealand, advertising routes fom Vancouver, Honolulu and Fiji and the all red route via San Francisco, Tahiti and Raratonga. Illustrations of a route map and a man on a boat appear. Union Line was once the biggest shipping line in the southern hemisphere and New Zealand's largest private-sector employer. It was incorporated by James Mills in Dunedin in 1875 with the backing of a Scottish shipbuilder, Peter Denny. Bought by shipping giant P & O around the time of the First World War it was sold in 1972 to an Australasian consortium and closed at the end of the twentieth century. Fourteen pages printed on one side with comb bound textured and embossed light blue card cover.
