A majolica glazed jardinière and stand on a blue ground with water lily and foliate decoration (af), length 6cm. CONDITION REPORT: The stand has been broken fully and reglued under first knop and the bowl has a large V shape crack and reglued chip with refitting to areas and crackling to glaze throughout.
Echezeaux 1988 Domaine de la Romanee Conti 9 bts in Original branded Romanee Conti Case. Purchased from Christies in the mid 1990~s These have been stored in non-cellar conditions in a private home. The case was sealed with a metal band when first consigned. Upon opening three bottles in the case had dropped corks and these have been removed. these were bottle numbers 07140 07141 and 07145. The remaining nine bottles appear to be in perfect condtion with no signs of leakage or damage excellent colour and good levels which may be seen in the photographs available on our website. Bottle numbers are 07136 07137 07138 07139 07142 07143 07144 07146 04147.

A fine antique Nepalese Kora Fighting Sword, presented by 'His Highness Maharaja Sur Bhim Shum Shere Jung, Prime Minister of Nepal to Field Marshall Supradipta Manyabar, His Excellency Sir William Birdwood. Bart. G.C.B. G.C.S.I. G.C.M.G. C.I.E. D.S.O. L.D., Commander-in-Chief, Indian and Honorary General Nepalese Army, Nepal 1930'. Presented by Field Marshall Sir William Birdwood, Colonel, Sixth Gurkha Rifles to His Brother Officers 1930. Presented in a mahogany box frame, green baize lined, 37cm x 81cm x 36cm A fine antique Kora Fighting Sword, presented in 1930 to 'the soul of Anzac', Field Marshall Lord Birdwood, by the sixth Rana ruler of Nepal, Bhim Shumsher Jang Bahadur upon Birdwood's appointment as an honorary General of the Nepalese Army. The kora's sheaf with two engraved silver plaques: the first commemorating the original presentation as recorded in Lord Birdwood's autobiography, “Khaki and Gown”; the second commemorating Birdwood's subsequent presentation of the kora to the officers of the 6th Gurkha Rifles in the same year. (Field Marshall Birdwood was then Colonel of the 6th and Bhim Shumsher Jang the newly appointed Colonel of the 4th.) The first plaque reads: “From His Highness Maharaja Sir Bhim Shum Shere Jung, Prime Minister of Nepal to Field Marshal Supradipta Manyabar [General], His Excellency Sir William Birdwood. Bart. G.C.B., G.C.S.I., G.C.M.G., C.I.E., D.S.O., L.L.D., Commander-in-Chief in India and Honorary General Nepalese Army, Nepal, 1930.” And the second: “Presented by Field Marshall Sir William Birdwood, Colonel 6th Gurkha Rifles to his Brother Officers, 1930.”
An antique Cuneiform Tablet fragment, possibly Mesopotamia circa late first millennium BC, proto-cuneiform is the name given to the earliest form of writing/pictograms that were drawn on clay tablets. Cuneiform writing was used from the Mediterranean coast of Syria to Western Iran and from Hittite Anatolia to Southern Mesopotamia. The last dated Cuneiform text has a date corresponding to AD 75, although the script probably continued in use over the next two centuries. 14.5cm x 14cm x 8cm CONDITION REPORT: This has been in a genuine private collection for many years, the house now being dispersed for downsizing after a death in the family, military people and travelled extensively around the world and most of the collection was formed in the early part of the 20th Century. The vendor advises that this lot was collected in the early/mid 20th Century and therefore has been exported from the Near East prior to 1990.

BIRDWOOD, Herbert M., the full-leather 1858 handwritten diary of the final year Cambridge undergraduate, Herbert Mills Birdwood, inscribed with the diarist's name and 'Pet. Coll. Cambridge'. The diary, which begins in the new year and ends on December 16th, records his final year at home before embarking for India where he was to lead a long and illustrious Civil Service career. Many interesting entries, including Wednesday, April 21st (page 92) which has a drawing of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's soon-to-be-completed Royal Albert Bridge. The entry for the day, which precedes the illustration reads: "Went to Plymouth by the 9.40 train. First to the Naval Bank and drew £10 . Then by omnibus to North Corus, thence by steamer to Saltash to see Mr Brunel's railway bridge. This consists of two tubes which are the arks of a circle and support the roadway thus:" The text continues belowthe drawing: "Only one tube was up. The roadway will be 100 feet above highwater - the span is 240 feet. Saw hulks and funboats in the anchorage, also the 'King William' and the American ship, 'Niagara', which with the 'Agamemnon', is going to lay down the Atlantic cable... walked to Plymouth along the canal to see the new viaducts which are building for the Tavistock Line."; "HEYWOOD'S AUTHENTIC SERIES OF PRESS BIOGRAPHIES - Mr. H. M. Birdwood, Barrister-at-Law", together with his brother, George's publication: "The Industrial Arts of India" (George C.M. A late 18th century mahogany Writing Bureau, the angular cleated fall opening to reveal fitted interior of pigeonholes and drawers etc., further over four full-width graduated drawers, raised on high bracket feet, 92cm wide CONDITION REPORT: Re-polished, the fall opens to reveal fitted interior which has been later baize lined, the baize is marked, hinges appear original and untouched, the handles also look original, top lock is missing from the first drawer, general scuffs, knocks etc., all commensurate with age, the top of the piece is ink marked and the front left hand bottom of the fall appears to have had an historic repair at some stage.

A selection of mostly late 18th century Creamware to include lidded quadrant Hors d'oeuvre Dishes, lattice work Chestnut Basket and other similar items (some damage) CONDITION REPORT: Condition generally commensurate with age, a fair amount of marks and scratches, paint away, one Hors d'oeuvre Dish completely broken and repaired to base, another Hors d'oeuvre Dish hairline to base and also cracked to top, various marks of age etc., the oval stand with integral oval pot marked and with a small chip to the inner rim and one further fingernail size chip to the underside of the oval lid, the Jug fairly heavily restored (prevalent discolouration) to the top spout area, the two boat shaped Wedgwood Dishes in reasonable order but some decoration away, the lattice ware Basket with lots of marks and discolouration commensurate with age etc., The two large circular Plates with the yellow border:- the first Plate has some scratching apparent to the top side and black flecks within the glaze, the underside looks quite darkly marked with age in area, mostly prevalent where the Plate sits upon the table, minor original glaze blemishes are also apparent to the underside, second Plate similar to first Plate on the surface with minor scratching and flecks in glazed top, the yellow borders on both Plates look reasonable for age and the underside of the second Plate similarly discoloured in some areas with stilt marks present etc., and old label, no real signs of chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration to either Plate, one image taken of second Plate with label to underside
1897/1898 Notts County v Preston, a programme from the the Football League game, dated 07/10/1897, very slight damage to a small piece of the edge of the front page of the programme, overall good condition, 8 pages include the four page Richards' Football card insert (please note this was not the first season of the Football League as previouslly stated)
1935 Bolton Wanderers, an autographed menu from the Jubilee Dinner, held at the Pack Horse Hotel, on 13/05/1935, to celebrate the return of the club to the First Division. The back page has 14 signatures including, Rowley, Milsom, Walton, and the traner, Eccles. The item was the property of Bob Young who has also signed the menu

Fine and rare Omega Speedmaster 'Ed White' Pre-Moon chronograph stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch, ref. S 105 003-64, movement serial no. 2282xxxx, circa 1965, tachymeter bezel, matt black dial with chronograph centre seconds, baton markers and triple subsidiary dials, cal. 321 17 jewel movement with inner cap, original 7912 bracelet dated '1.65' with '6' end links, bezel 40mm; with Omega pouch and service related papers. *In 1965 Edward Higgins 'Ed' White (1930-1967) was the first American to 'walk in space'. The Omega 105.003 has been coined the 'Ed White' as it was on the wrist of White during this historic milestone in space exploration. The production period of the 105.003 was very short, lasting around three years from 1963. In 1966 it was superseded by the 'Professional' ref.105.012 famously worn on the moon in 1969. Condition Report: Movement - currently working with chronograph resetting correctly. Dial - staining to the baton markings. Glass - appears good. Hands - staining to the lume on each as expected for the period. Bezel - visible signs of general wear with some enamel loss. Case - light marks as expected of the period, some scratching to the case back from attempted opening. Crown - working correctly. Strap/Bracelet - original bracelet with typical wear and tear marks, wrist size 7" approx. Condition reports are provided for guidance only. Rare and fine Rolex Cosmograph Daytona chronograph stainless steel gentleman's bracelet watch, ref. 6239, circa 1966, serial no. 147xxxx, with 300 unit bezel, silvered dial with applied baton markers, chronograph centre seconds with black subsidiary dials for hour, thirty minute recording and constant seconds, cal. 722 17 jewel movement, with screw down crown and twin pushers, expanding 7205 riveted Oyster bracelet with folding clasp and 57 end links, dated '4.67', 37mm. *ex Dr. Hansell Collection; with period Rolex presentation box and Rolex service repair invoice dated 18.12.1978. Introduced in 1961 the Rolex Cosmograph, originally designed for use by driving enthusiasts, was the first Rolex to be fitted with a tachometer bezel that could calculate, among other things, average speeds and lap times. By the mid 1960s the model had gained the name Daytona after the famous American race-car track, with the first examples printed with Daytona in small straight text under Cosmograph and fitted with a bezel calculated to 300 units. The bezel with 300 units were only available on the 6239 with Daytona printed in black underneath the Cosmograph, these were the first version of dial to feature the name Daytona. Condition Report: Movement - appears working with chronograph setting correctly. Dial - good. Glass - light surface marks. Hands - good, typical light marks. Case - typical light marks and light scratching, inside case back with various service inscriptions. Crown - working correctly. Bracelet - good with typical light marks. Mahogany thirty hour longcase clock, the 12" rural painted arched dial signed S. Shortman, Newnham to the centre under a calendar aperture, the case inlaid with boxwood lines and with short door flanked by canted sides, the hood surmounted by a moulded swan neck pediment and brass ball and spire finial, 86" high (pendulum and weight) *The front plate of the movement is stamped S.S. no. 16 1835 and the pendulum is also stamped. This will have been one of the first clocks that Samuel Shortman made at the age of around twenty
