First three with a few surface marks, otherwise mint state, toned with underlying lustre, 1892 almost uncirculated with attractive underlying lustre, 1893 extremely fine, both scarce issues, the last attractive mint state with highly reflective fields. (6)
WORLD COINS, USA, Silver Morgan Dollars (4), 1878-S, 1884-CC, 1884-O, 1904-O (KM 110). First uncirculated with small surface marks by forehead, toned, the third about uncirculated with uneven rainbow toning and a few light scratches across cheek, the others brilliant mint state with full lustre, the Carlson City issue scarce. (4)
INDIAN COINS, EAST INDIA COMPANY, Bombay Presidency, Pice (2), 1728-1749 (Pr 104; KM 165). Both good fine, first with most of the first three lines on the flan, the second with only the letters GIS/NATU/NGLI visible. (2) ex David Fore Collection, Baldwin’s Auction 84, September 2013, lot 1917
INDIAN COINS, MISCELLANEOUS, Victoria, Copper Rupee Weights (4), with the following inscriptions: MINIMUM WEIGHT OF GOV’T RUPEE 176.4 Grs., uniface; MINIMUM WEIGHT OF RUPEE 15/16 TOLA; MINIMUM WEIGHT OF RUPEE 13/16 TOLA; MINIMUM WEIGHT OF RUPEE 3/4 TOLA. First extremely fine with some verdigris on the reverse, the others about uncirculated, with some lustre. (4) These were used at banks to take in old, worn and underweight Rupees. One would assume the standards changed over time, but it is also likely that the weights were used in different parts of India.
BRITISH COINS, Charles I, Silver Half-Groat, Briot’s first milled issue (1631-1632), crowned bust left, .B. below, value behind between stops, all within linear circle, initial mark lozenge, rev quartered shield of arms upon long cross fourchée, 1.04g (Brooker 721; N 2302; S 2856). Very fine, toned.
BRITISH COINS, Charles I, Silver Penny, Briot’s first milled issue (1631-1632), crowned bust left to lower part of coin, .B. to lower right, value behind between stops, linear circle around, no initial mark, legend commences lower right, rev quartered shield of arms upon long cross fourchée, 0.52g (Brooker 723; N 2303; S 2857). About very fine, toned.
ISLAMIC COINS, ABBASID CALIPHATE, al-Muktafi (289-295h), Silver Dirham, Wasit 293h, 3.24g (A 244.1); al-Muttaqi (329-333h), Silver Dirham, Madinat al-Salam 330h, with the name of the heir Abu Mansur, 4.02g (BMC I:477; A 257). First about very fine, second with some weakness in margins, otherwise very fine, scarce. (2)
BRITISH COINS, Charles II (1660-1685), Gold Two-Guineas, 1664, Elephant & Castle, first laureate bust right, elephant below truncation, rev crowned cruciform emblematic shields, sceptres in angles, four interlinked C’s at centre, date either side of top English crown, 16.74g (MCE 32; S 3334). Small metal flaw by nose of portrait and small rim nick at top, otherwise bold fine / nearly very fine, retaining some brilliance.
ISLAMIC COINS, SAFAVID, Isma’il I (907-930h), Broad Silver Shahi, Balkh, no date, 9.43g (A 2576). Fine and rare. First silver standard, (SNAT XIVc:904). This coin must have been struck sometime between 917h (when Balkh came under Safavid control) and 924h (when the new weight standard was introduced).
G BRITISH COINS, George IV, Gold Sovereign, 1823, first laureate head left, B.P. below, rev St George slaying dragon right with sword, date in exergue, weak upper serif on the 1, date figure 3 slightly raised, edge milled, 7.96g (Bentley 14; Marsh 7 R3; MCE 473; S 3800). Once cleaned with associated hairlines and marks to surfaces, scratch from neck of portrait to rim, otherwise bold fine and a very rare date.
G BRITISH COINS, George IV, Gold Half-Sovereign, 1823, first laureate head left, B.P. below, rev crowned quartered shield of arms with an escutcheon of the Arms of Hanover, date surrounding, edge milled, 3.97g (Marsh 404, R2; MCE 483; S 3803). Roughly cleaned with heavy hairlines and small scratches near truncation, fine.
G BRITISH COINS, Victoria, Gold Sovereign, 1838, first young head left, hair bound with double fillet, ponytail terminates in single curved strand of hair, w.w. raised on truncation, date below, rev crowned shield of arms within laurel wreath, emblems below, edge milled, 7.97g (Bentley 967; Marsh 22 R; MCE 499; S 3852). Light obverse marks and hairlines, once cleaned, now toned, otherwise good very fine.
BRITISH COINS, Elizabeth II (1952- ), Brass Trial Threepence, 1955, struck on a light weight dodecagonal flan, young laureate head right, MG incuse on truncation, TRIAL PIECE incuse in field, +ELIZABETH. II. DEI. GRATIA. REGINA. F: D:, raised border rim both sides, rev struck en médaille, crowned portcullis, W G initials below, THREE PENCE legend, 3.40g (Peck -; cf S 4153). Practically as struck, light tone, of the highest rarity. This trial piece would appear to be about half the thickness of a regular currency 1955 Threepence, highly unusual and the first we have seen.

First fine, weakly struck up as usual but probably sometime cleaned, the second very fine with the remnants of an old paper tag adhering to the obverse, the last about very fine. (3)

Usual die flaw on obverse at right, about extremely fine, round dent in flan on the obverse, very rare.
