A fine George III satinwood and rosewood crossbanded serpentine commode, in Sheraton style and in the manner of Ince and Mayhew, last quarter 18th century,: the top with concentric fan paterae radiating from the back edge; the four graduated drawers all with twin ormolu ring handles with vases in low relief to the backplates, with further crossbanded and cockbeaded edges; the top drawer fitted with brushing slide over compartments; the drawers flanked by projecting and canted angles to block bracket feet; 88cm high, 118cm wide, 64cm deep*Notes William Ince and John Mayhew were in partnership from 1759 to 1803, in London.
