Following the take-over of Bentley Motors Ltd. by Rolls-Royce Ltd., the first design from the Derby works to wear the Bentley name was a chassis geared to the sporting market with a 3,669cc engine and first deliveries were made in the last quarter of 1933. In spring 1936, deliveries of the 4,257cc version commenced and in late 1938, came the first of 201 of the so called ’overdrive’ cars with the gear ratios changed to 2.38:1 for 1st gear, 1.49:1 for 2nd, direct in 3rd and 0.85:1 for 4th. The production register found within CC4, reveals that most buyers opted for a sports saloon body and that Park Ward’s design proved the most popular with 822 produced. This extremely rare Shooting Brake or “Woody” bodied model was supplied originally as a sporting saloon by Thrupp and Maberly to a Mr Edmonds of Birmingham and is believed to have been rebodied circa 1952 by Jones Brothers (Coachbuilders)Ltd of Willesden NW10 as evidenced by plaques on the door shuts. It appears that Jones made only a handful of these bodies for Rolls-Royce / Bentley chassis but quite a number for other luxury brands such as Armstrong Siddeley and Healey amongst others. It was not uncommon at the time as it changed the taxable status of the car to commercial, reducing road fund licence to £12-10-0p from £37-10-p, a not insubstantial saving !DOC 666 has had an interesting life having been owned at one time by J.J. Astor VI, the so called ‘Titanic Baby’ and heir to the Astor fortune. It has also spent time being a grocer’s delivery van presumably ensuring your fruit and vegetables arrived in style and unbruised in the South Downs region!Bought by a well-known Sussex based Bentley collector the car was sent to Blackmore Engineering in Shoreham, Sussex where it received a thorough but sympathetic restoration including complete engine rebuild, chassis work, brakes, radiator etc. Subsequently the car has been used regularly including numerous trips to France and a six-week tour of New Zealand where it covered over 3,300 trouble free miles on unmade and tarmac roads at an average of 17mpg.Finished in black with oxblood leather and a beautiful wooden dashboard, this car has a delightful patina and comes with a huge history file and invoices dating back to the 1960s.Supplied with current V5 and offered with no reserve, this extremely rare machine is ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian with a taste for the unusual and which is sure to create attention wherever it goes ! In 1988 Car magazine were amongst the first to report that Lotus had begun production on its all-new Elan, the car had been long in the mindset of Lotus who wanted to create a modern sports car that would set the world talking again about the British sportscar manufacturer and thus Peter Stevens Lotus chief stylist was commissioned with the project. As found in the detailed article in CAR Stevens expressed that the design came naturally, the initial concept was received very well and unlike some designs it was not a struggle to meet the brief. When the clay model at 7/8 scale was created it was wheeled out onto the grass outside the executive offices and everyone had a chance to look around, Mike Kimberley took a seat and declared the design ‘bloody marvellous’ after this Stevens whisked it away for a full-size presentation model we have on offer here.Fast forward nearly four decades and in a barn in Cornwall the original M100 prototype is hidden under a tarpaulin, previosly in the ownership of former Lotus employee (photographed with the car in CAR magazine) and with the original copy of CAR magazine with the prototype featured and photos of the Lotus management. Today it is very much as it would have been back in 1986 when it was revealed to Lotus board members, the trim, panels and dash are all in very good order with some patina but not showing much damage given its construction and years in storage. It rolls on its 14-inch alloy wheels and from a distance could be the finished article, but this is in reality a real piece of Lotus history with provenance. A prototype for a collection, our website has copies of the original CAR magazine write up which provide you with a real insight into the M100 prototype and it is a pleasure to be able to offer this piece of British sports car history. The Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW as well as the first new BMW model to be assembled in the United States. It was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie 'Golden Eye'. While the film was number one at the box office, sales of the car peaked and it was sold out by the time the car was launched. The Z3 was designed by Joji Nagashima of the BMW design team and developed from the E36 platform of the 3-Series. The resulting platform is often referred to as the E36/7(roadster) or E36/8(coupé). When launched, only the 1.9 litre straight four engine was offered, but its 138bhp was not up to expectations. A 2.2 litre engine producing 168bhp was made available for the more enthusiastic driver and in 1997 a powerful six cylinder 2.8-litre engine producing 190bhp was an option, or a 3.0-litre straight six with 228bhp.The car we have here presents well in Topaz Blue with a very retro two tone blue and black interior. The car was serviced by Robert Stern BMW up until 2007 at just shy of 48,000 miles, then visited Rybrook BMW in 2009 at 55,000 miles. Since then, the car has been serviced a handful of times by smaller independent garages, most recently at 81,803 miles. These cars are getting even better with age, a true BMW analogue sports car, which we’re very unlikely to see produced by them ever again. The car is supplied to auction with its leather wallets containing owner’s manual, service book, and brochure. Also included are various service bills, a V5C registration document and MoT test certificate valid until April 2025. Consigned by Fraser Smith
The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured by Jaguar between 1948 and 1954 and was Jaguar's first post-war sports car which succeeded the SS 100 that ceased production in 1940. The XK120 was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a test bed and show car for the new Jaguar XK six-cylinder engine. It caused a sensation, which persuaded William Lyons to put it into production and the "120" in its name referred to its 120 mph top speed, this made the XK120 the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was available in two convertible versions; first as the roadster, then also as a drophead coupé from 1953 and as a closed fixed-head coupé from 1951. The DHC was a more deluxe model, featuring a beautiful wood dashboard and wood features on the door interiors. The XK120 was aimed primarily at the US market and the fixed-head coupé was constructed in relatively small numbers with approximately 2680 units produced (combined left and right hand drive) compared with approximately 7,614 roadsters. In late 1954 the XK120 was succeeded by the XK140 which benefitted from enhanced engineering to benefit the new model not only as a road going tourer, but as a serious motorsport contender. This superb example of this British classic sports car was converted from left hand drive to right hand drive and is presented in the ubiquitous British Racing Green with pale green leather interior. The car was the subject of a circa 30-year body off restoration and result is absolutely stunning. Its walnut dash and door cappings are superb, the green carpet is in great condition and the present owner has fitted a new unleaded cylinder head, rebuilt the period correct carburettors and had the wire wheels resprayed and powder coated. This Jaguar has covered only a mere 100 miles from its restoration and comes with a Heritage Certificate, various invoices, stainless steel exhaust and a modern radio is cleverly located behind the ash tray. This car sounds fantastic, looks just as good as it sounds and is a real head turner. This must be viewed to truly appreciate the meticulous restoration and the finish on the car. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2005, Maserati introduced two different trim levels for the Quattroporte, the Executive GT and Sport GT.The Quattroporte Sport GT variant offered several performance upgrades: a re-configured transmission providing faster gearshifts and a firmer Skyhook suspension system; courtesy of new software calibrations, seven-spoke 20-inch wheels with low-profile tyres, cross-drilled brake rotors, and braided brake lines. Model-specific exterior trim included dark mesh front and side grilles and red accents to the Trident badges, as on vintage racing Maserati models. Inside, there were aluminium pedals, a sport steering wheel and carbon fibre in place of the standard wood inserts.A new 6-speed ZF-supplied automatic transmission was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2007, with the first cars delivered right after the launch, marketed as Maserati Quattroporte Automatica. This particular four owner car is finished in the desirable colour combination of Nero Carbonio with Nero interior and most importantly has the far more desirable option of the six speed ZF automatic gearbox. Supplied new by Graypaul Edinburgh, the car has a mix of main dealer and specialist service history and is complete with original handbooks, service book , two keys, V5c and Mot until April 2025.The epitome of Italian style, this luxury sports saloon is offered with no reserve and represents fabulous value for money. For most cars there is a curve one can follow to monitor their prices for an average example. Every so often however there is a spike and this represents something very special indeed, this car is one of those spikes. In 20 years of car valuations in the auction industry, Historics has never seen a 944 of this quality. Under the bonnet there is not a spot of oil or grease mark to be seen. In our humble opinion, if you want the best, this is it. Indeed, Porsche Club of Great Britain, in their traditionally understated way described it as “very well presented and fully restored”. Their valuation however tells a slightly more effusive story, £23,000.Presented in the official launch colour of metallic Velvet Red, it was originally sold through Porsche main agents, Coopers in Exeter. It was optioned with headlamp washers, white front fog lights, an alarm system, ABS braking and still has its very rare original Porsche sunroof bag. The service history is extensive with most recent invoices from Parr, Porsche specialists based in West Sussex. Just last year (52 miles ago) they carried out a major cambelt service to the tune of £2,791. Additional Parr invoices continue back to 2015 with further invoices right back to 2007. Also included, of course, is the correct owners pack with service book comprehensively stamped right up to last year or 53 miles ago. Most importantly however, is one of the most recent invoices. This details, over four pages, the cost of a full glass-out, bare-metal repaint by Parr, once again. Total cost, over £13,000. The current custodian has been meticulous in his maintenance and looks after his collection very well indeed and, interestingly, included is the original sales brochure featuring a similar car in this exact colour and specification along with a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB. These one year only, 2.7 litre models are becoming increasing rare and this car surly represents a wonderful example of Porsche’s 1980s transaxle history. Mercedes-Benz first introduced an SL model in 1954 following an original idea by American importer, Max Hoffman who foresaw a market for a car tailored to affluent Americans in the booming post-war United States. It has remained in production, in various guises and model years in the seven decades since then, making the SL the second longest single series ever produced by the German manufacturer.Originally registered new on 19th October 1984, this well-presented example is offered in Metallic Grey coachwork over a beige interior and looks very well indeed. Our vendor became only the second owner of this iconic German classic car when he purchased it in September 2006. During his tenure the car has been dry stored and used sparingly. This must be one of the lowest mileage and lowest ownership examples of the desirable V8 Mercedes available in the current marketplace. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, a valid MOT test certificate, a stamped original service book and a variety of bills and receipts. This is a superb opportunity to acquire such a car and is offered with a very sensible estimate. Consigned by Dominic Lake. ONLY TWO OWNERS FROM NEWLOW MILEAGE EXAMPLEINCLUDES FACTORY HARDTOP
The CB400F was produced by Honda from 1975 to 1977. It first appeared at the 1974 Cologne motorcycle show, Intermot, and was dropped from the Honda range in 1978. It had an air-cooled, transverse-mounted 408cc inline four-cylinder engine with two valves per cylinder operated by a single chain-driven overhead camshaft. Fuelling was provided by four 20 mm Keihin carburettors. The CB400F is commonly known as the Honda 400 Four.Imported from Belgium, this example is unregistered but is supplied with a Belgium logbook. It was recommissioned in 2021 which included a UK MoT certificate and a full gearbox rebuild. Described by the vendor as a faultless ride, this is a lovely example of the 400cc four cylinder 400 four. Together with the 300 SL, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes-Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The striking impression given by the 190 SL, sitting alongside the bigger 300 SL, was neat, sporty and with dashing lines - signatures of Mercedes-Benz designers Karl Wilfret and Walter Hacket. And between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced, a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two carburettors delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era, and still providing an exhilarating drive today. The body was a monocoque design, welded to the shortened chassis of the type 180 saloon. A racing version with aluminium doors and a small windscreen was never officially produced although, these parts could be ordered from the factory for weekend racing. This rust free, left hand drive ex-Californian 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was imported to the UK last year with the intention of removing the incorrect V6 engine that had been fitted in the early 1980’s and converting the car to electric drive, on reflection the current owner felt with all the other projects he has underway that this was not viable. So here is an opportunity to purchase an unmolested, other than the engine and gearbox, rust free Mercedes-Benz 190SL with factory hard top which could be used in its original state or locate an original engine and gearbox and restore the car, or resto mod it using modern Mercedes components or go for the vendors plan to fit electric. Finished in White with the original Blue cloth interior this 190 SL is UK taxes paid and is supplied with a V5 registration document. The Ford Escort RS Cosworth was released in 1992 just as the Sierra Sapphire 4X4 Cosworth production was ending. The radical styling that included flared arches and the unmissable whale tail rear spoiler, displayed only a small part of the potential however, that potential was fulfilled by the fitment of the Ford power unit that lay under the bonnet boosted by a turbo charger. Production commenced in February 1992 with the first 2,500 being homologation specials. The Cosworth was entered into the World Rally Championship the following year, enjoying outstanding success in the hands of works drivers François Delecour and Miki Biasion. Although the RS Cosworth resembled the Escort road car, it was in fact based on a shortened Sierra 4x4 floor pan and used the latter's running gear. This meant that, unlike the mainstream Mk. V Escort, the RS Cosworth mounted its engine fore-and-aft rather than transversely, it also used the Sierra 4x4's five-speed manual transmission which featured permanent four-wheel drive that split the power 34/66 front/rear. In road trim, the RS Cosworth produced 227bhp and with that horsepower in a nimble, compact car, performance was outstanding. The end came too early for many enthusiasts with production ceasing in January 1996. Only 7,145 cars were produced over a four-year period. This stunning Pacific Blue late big turbo RS Cosworth is presented in Pacific Blue with full black Lux leather trim. K726 PLE was sold to its first owner on 25th September 1992 and remained with him until last year when permanently relocating to the USA he sold it to his good friend. The car having spent a number of years in storage as the owner spent more and more time in the US was a little cosmetically untidy and needed a little TLC so the new owner had the intention of recommissioning it himself but not having the time or funds to do the car justice he negotiated with the owner of the business tasked with the work ‘our vendor’ to step in and purchase the project and thus the more detailed cosmetic restoration began in earnest. We are told the car started fine and ran well but naturally needed all fluids removing and replacing and the car serviced, bearing in mind the incredible low mileage the interior was in fantastic condition and thus required nothing more than a leather feed and clean. The plan was to recommission and ‘tidy’ the car leaving or retaining originality but as many projects do this began to expand. The decision was taken to remove the engine and fully rebuild it and then detail it but while the engine was out he decided to paint the entire engine bay, then because of a few age related marks the decision was taken to expand this to fully repainting the entire car.At this point the simple ‘commissioning’ had got fully out of hand and this our vendor changed tack and decided to spend the best part of the year ensuring the car was in a condition befitting of a low mileage low owner collector car…. So up next while the car was in the air awaiting its engine rebuild the decision was made to completely refurbish the underside with every nut and bolt removed, cleaned or replaced and zinc plated. The budget at this point had been thrown out the window and although not wanting to add up the man hours its estimated it would cost circa £60,000 to replicate the work luckily for our vendor this work was absolved within the restoration business that he owns indeed a restoration business with two world records under its belt and he and his team can feel proud of the result. What we now have is a genuine, very low mileage standard example with history up to the point of storage and details from the restoration over the last year, a fabulous example therefore of an iconic 90’s fast Ford. In essence a one owner car for almost all of its life and with under 18,000 miles from new viewing is highly recommended... as is buying! The Honda S2000 was manufactured from 1999 until 2009, first shown as a concept car called the SSM at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, the production version was launched on April 15, 1999 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of two litres, while "S" stood for "sports" carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800 roadsters of the 1960s. Several revisions were made throughout the car's production life, including changes to the engine, gearbox, suspension, interior and exterior with production ceased on August 19, 2009. The Honda S2000 was notable for its exceptional specific power output of about 124 hp per litre, or about two horsepower per cubic inch, the highest of any mass production, naturally aspirated engined car at the time. The S2000 has since become a legitimate modern classic car, having seen a significant appreciation in price for valued examples in good condition. In the JDM community and the car community as a whole, the most sought-after models are special edition productions such as the CR (Club Racer) in the USA market while the standard AP1 and AP2 models have achieved collectible status as well. This AP2 example was purchased by our vendor as a retirement gift on the 24th June 2009, the original order form tells us it was specified with full body cover and front and rear parking sensors and although with a list price of £27,050 and due to being one of the last S2000’s to be sold, it was discounted to a final price of £21,655. Presented in New Formula Red with Black leather and soft top, this example has been maintained by Trident Honda in Ottershaw, the supplying dealer, with four service stamps until 2014; since then our vendor driving less frequently, has had a local mechanic fulfil both a brake fluid service and changed the coolant. A ULEZ compliant modern classic this has predominantly remained covered when not driven however the body colour plastics have bleached in the sun and could do with a smart colour repair typical of this red but a small price to pay to have such a low mileage, low owner example. Offered with a full book pack, two keys and MoT test certificate until September. The squarer-styled Escort Mk. II version appeared in January 1975 with the first production models having rolled off the production lines on 2nd December 1974. Unlike the first Escort (which was developed by Ford of Britain), the second generation was developed jointly between the UK and Ford of Germany. Codenamed ‘Brenda’ during its development, it had the same mechanical configuration as the Mk. I Escort. The estate and van versions used the same panelwork as the Mk. I but with the Mk. II front end and interior. The car used a revised underbody which had in fact been introduced as a running change during the last six months of the life of the Mk. I. The car was a success with just four body-styles by competing in many different market niches where rival manufacturers had multiple models. The ‘L’ and ‘GL’ models were in the mainstream purchased by the private sector, the ‘Sport’, ‘RS Mexico’ and ‘RS2000’ in the performance market; the ‘Ghia’ for an untapped small car luxury sector and ‘base’ models for the fleet market. During the second half of the 1970s, the Escort continued to prove hugely popular with buyers in Britain. Production, after an incredibly popular model run, ended in Britain in August 1980 with other countries following soon after. This absolutely superb example of this highly sought-after British classic was first registered on 8th December 1977. Finished in Midnight Blue with black interior this RS2000 Custom has been fully restored, which appears to have been completed to a very high standard, this was completed in 2021. Starting in 1978, the new 3.0 litre 911 SC was the second generation basic 911 model. It was in effect a Carrera 3 (known as a 911S in the United States) detuned to provide 180 bhp. The ‘SC’ designation was reintroduced by Porsche for the first time since the 356 SC as distinguished from the race-engine 356 Carrera. No Carrera versions were produced and the 930 Turbo remained at the top of the range. Porsche's engineers felt that the weight of the extra luxury, safety and emissions equipment on these cars was blunting performance compared to the earlier, lighter cars with the same power output, so in non-US cars, power was increased to 185 hp for 1980, then finally to 201 hp. However, cars sold in the US market retained their lower-compression 180 hp engines throughout. This enabled them to be run on lower-octane fuel but made them less desirable, indeed SC’s sold in the UK could be also specified with a desirable Sport Group Package which added stiffer suspension, the rear spoiler, front rubber lip and black Fuchs wheels. This example of this iconic marque is presented in its original colour of black with cream leather interior and has had only seven previous owners. It comes with a full Porsche service history ( dealer and specialist), current V5 Log book, MoT test certificate valid until March 9th 2025 and its service manual, Owners handbook, drivers manual, maintenance book and its fully Porsche stamped up service book in its original wallet. It also comes with old MoT test certificates and tax discs. The car has been pampered in a dehumidified garage its entire life in storage which is reflected in the paperwork but has been used regularly recently by the present owner. During the late 60s and early 70s, many considered creating attractive new touring bodies as opposed to investing in the restoration of a standard steel sports saloon which made more financial and practical sense. Derry F. Mallalieu decided to build his first Bentley Special whilst living in Connecticut, USA and based on a Bentley Mk. VI, before moving operations back to the UK. Adopting the leisurely, unhurried methods of traditional coach building, work proceeded at his base in Wootton near Abingdon. The handcrafted body was a composition of carefully formed panels; a beautifully finished product which was then married to the chassis of a Bentley Mk. VI whose original coachwork had simply been scrapped. Frame and engine as well as gearbox, rear axle and suspension were carefully checked before applying the standard Mallalieu formula. This involved lowering the chassis with an underslung rear end and setting the generally unmodified engine back in the chassis. His 'tour de force' was undoubtedly the coachwork design that first consigned the original, more formal Mk. VI or R-Type coachwork to the scrapyard. The lowered radiator of Mallalieu's cars was compensated for by an enlarged header tank, thus not compromising the cooling on these fast road cars. Although Mallalieu cars were bespoke and detailed to the buyers' requirements, the open roadsters were, by far, the most popular. The availability of the almost full range of spare parts met certain customers' desire to alter cars from right hand drive to left hand drive using original Bentley parts. Regarding the interior, only the finest materials were accepted and thanks to the relatively light bodywork, the cars offered impressive acceleration. The vendor, in 1979, read an article in the Financial Times by Stuart Marshal about Mallalieu Motors and his appetite was whetted for further investigation. He then made a visit to the factory in Abingdon where the Bentley cars were totally refurbished and rebuilt and this resulted in an order being placed in June of that year. The donor car was purchased in July and the open tourer car was made over the ensuing year, becoming number 38 in Mallalieu's build programme. The rebuild started with a new chassis being made, incorporating part of the old Bentley structure. When this was completed, it was sand-blasted, galvanised and painted with red iron oxide. It was then finished with a final coat of black bituminous paint; the whole structure being usable for a period that would stretch at least into the next century or as Stuart wrote in the FT, 'good for another generation's service'.The body was built through making a steel structure and then covering this in hand-crafted aluminium panels. Paint choice could be any colour used by the major manufacturers during the preceding ten years and Saab Cream was chosen to enhance the 1930s body style with a chocolate and cream Connolly leather interior and Wilton carpets.Beneath the body, the car's stopping capability has been significantly improved by the change to vacuum brake servos, feeding Range Rover discs at the front with Ford Capri final drive assembly and drum brakes. As part of the build programme, the engine was also completely stripped and rebuilt. The car's appearance has been enhanced by the choice of full running boards, two additional (detachable) trunks on the folding luggage shelf at the rear, P100 headlamps combined with fog lights and spotlights and large horns in front of the radiator; a good choice, it would seem, as Pauline Mallalieu said when she presented the original vendor with the keys of the car on taking delivery in 1980, 'I like to see our cars well dressed'.A short period of time after the car had been delivered, the Mallalieu Company went into liquidation. The company’s senior managers searched for backers to keep the company going, even approaching previous car purchasers, although this did not uncover any enthusiastic backers. The original owner of this particular car, however, delighted by the style and interest in his new acquisition, decided to secure the future of the workforce by acquiring the majority of the company, making a cash loan and in true Mallalieu style, grew the company back into prosperity. He covered only 10,500 in 36 years ownership before the current purchaser in the Summer of 2015. Upon acquiring the car from Historics in 2015 our vendor spent £12,000 with Nigel Sandel Bentley and Rolls-Royce Specialist to restore the car back to its original 1980 splendour. During this current ownership of nine years over a total of £18,000 in invoices for various mechanical and bodywork improvements can be found. Included with the car are tonneau and roof covers, along with side windows and a battery conditioner. Complete with comprehensive service history and Historic status thus does not require MoT test certificate or road tax and is of course ULEZ exempt. A reluctant sale due to the necessity of downsizing a private collection, this example will be sorely missed but certainly a thrill for the new owner. The Chevrolet Task Force (or in some cases, Task-Force) is a light-duty (3100-short bed & 3200-long bed) and medium-duty (3600) truck series by Chevrolet introduced in 1955, its first major redesign since 1947. Known as the Blue Chip in the parallel GMC it had more modern design than the preceding Advance Design without sacrificing ruggedness or durability. First available on March 25, 1955, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years from 1955 (2nd series) until 1957. Model years 1955 & 1956 had the “egg crate grill”. 1955 had the emblems below the lateral line of the front fender, whereas in 1956, the emblem was located above the lateral line and the hood emblem was a bit higher on the hood. In 1957, the grill changed to a more open design and the hood was given “spears” resembling the Bel Air. In 1958 the series was renamed “Apache”, found on fender emblems, given a second set of headlights, and received other minor changes. The model continued with minor changes through 1959.This superb example of this iconic American classic truck is presented in gleaming light blue with a grey interior, with a wood lined flatbed and side mounted spare wheel. The vehicle has just undergone a restoration which included a £12,000 respray in its present glorious light paintwork, also a new deluxe steering wheel costing a mere £500 has been installed, a deluxe five dash clock and in the history file there are receipts for all the new parts fitted. The truck has new front disc brakes, 12 bolt rear differential and rear axle with park brake. Its small block 305 V8 Chevrolet engine (5.7 litre) is mated to an automatic gearbox. This is a true head turner and would grace any American car show or just enjoy taking it for a run down the road. In this 50th year celebration of the 911 Turbo, we’re thrilled to include this incredible example in our summer sale. As Porsche themselves state this represents “the closest link between motor sport and everyday driving”. There is little doubt that the 930 Turbo represents the pinnacle of motoring excellence. Many drivers have reached the limit of their ability long before this car has reached its own. It's nomenclature of the ‘widow maker’ is well earned. This example was first registered to Porsche GB Reading to represent the highest specification available at the time. This was part of the ‘Special Wishes’ scheme and customers could order upgrades that simply weren't available to other cars. The most obvious of which in this example are the fitting of ‘Recaro Ideal C’ seats (authenticated by Porsche in the paperwork), fully electrically adjustable and heated all through an 80s-style chunky-buttoned panel as well as, unusually, inflatable lumbar supports. The original Blaupunkt Koln SQR 22 radio/cassette player along with tape storage can be found on the transmission tunnel where the rebuilt 3.3 litre engine and gearbox transfers power through a limited slip differential to the rear. The Turbo Fuchs are in excellent condition and fitted with a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. It's the 300bhp that this powerhouse produces that necessitates the characteristic rear spoiler reducing lift force by an alleged 100%.Subject to an £80,000 restoration by SL Restoration & Parr Porsche some two years ago, highly respected Porsche recommended marque specialists, the car’s original specification exactly reflects the colour scheme of Metallic Platinum with brown leather used by the Stuttgart company in their marketing material from 1983. The previous owner enjoyed this car for some 26 years with the current vendor since 2017. Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB along with two extensive files of invoices and service information (Autofarm being early custodians) as well as other interesting items such as the original floor mats, immaculate toolkit & air compressor, space-saver wheel and two period brochures. Make no mistake, this is one of the finest on the marketplace today and with its flawless paintwork presents perhaps better than when new in 1983 and the meticulous restoration should ensure a further 40 years of ultimate driving pleasure.Consigned by Edward Bridger Stille FULLY RESTORED BY SL RESTORATION/PARR PORSCHEIMMACULATE EXAMPLE AND DRIVES IMPECCABLYREBUILT ENGINE, GEARBOX & TURBO
The Bentley Continental GT was the first car released by Volkswagen AG after their acquisition of the company in 1998 and was unveiled at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, followed by Le Mans, Goodwood Festival of Speed and the annual Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone. The car differed significantly from the previous Continental R and T models in terms of its concept; although much of the car is hand-assembled, this Bentley was made in significantly larger numbers than previously. As a result, the price at launch was substantially less than the Continental R, thus exposing the car to a much wider and new customer base as a more affordable car. A Continental GTC is equipped with a 6.0 litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine and produces 603bhp with an impressive top speed of 202mph. Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive is standard. This example is beautifully presented in grey with a two-tone black and cream interior, though the colour split is a slightly different take on the norm, instead opting for black as the main hide on the seats and dash top and cream as the secondary hide. This combination gives the benefit of a lighter more spacious feeling cabin with the cream touches but the added practicality of the black main hide, which is of course far easier to maintain. The car has an impressive service record, with all Bentley main dealer servicing in its early life, then various visits to well renowned specialists thereafter. During the present vendor’s ownership, the hood has been replaced, a common and costly problem which has been taken care of for the next owner. Supplied to auction with a folder containing invoices and service stamps of all works completed over the years, a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate. In 2001, three years after the launch of the Rover 75, and less than a year after the demerger of MG Rover from BMW, the MG ZT and MG ZT-T were launched. During the cars' development, the models were codenamed X10 and X11, for the saloon and estate versions, respectively. The basic shape and styling of the MG ZT remained the same as for the Rover 75 but with changes to the front bumper, now with an integrated grille, and detail alterations including colour coding of the chromed waistline, a new boot lid plinth, and different alloy wheels and tyres sizes. During the first few months of 2004, MG Rover facelifted the design of the ZT and ZT-T to a less retro look, at the same time as the Rover 75 received a facelift. This didn't feature much in the way of mechanical differences to the ZT, most changes were merely aesthetic. The main changes to the car included the replacement of the twin headlamps, with a new, clear single headlamp unit. Between 2003 and 2006 the top of the ZT range, and the rarest, was rear wheel drive and powered by the Ford 4601cc V8 engine giving 300bhp, 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.Originally registered on 16th January 2006 this Rover ZT-T presents well in black with a black interior. These are great cars to drive with endless power available, a relatively unassuming vehicle from the outside, with the only visible feature being the large bore exhausts. However, start the engine and suddenly you become aware of the Ford Mustang 4.6 litre V8 under the bonnet. This is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox making this a true drivers car and one to really enjoy on the open road. Performance is put at 260bhp and 407NM of torque. Manufactured in relatively small numbers, it is thought less than 200 were produced, meaning this could well prove to be a shrewd purchase. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 7th November 2024. A stylish estate car, best described as ‘a wolf in sheeps’ clothing’. The Arnage T laid claim to the title of world's fastest saloon in 2002, propelling the driver, in total luxury to a top speed of 170mph. Powered by a 6.75 litre twin turbo version of the Rolls-Royce, V8 engine, the nearly three-ton car could accelerate from 0-60mph in just 5.5 seconds. The engine was treated to what Bentley described as 'the most thorough re-engineering of its life’ producing 451bhp and 645lb/ft of torque. Other changes included the adoption of a 'drive-by-wire' throttle to go hand-in-glove with Bosch's Electronic Stability Program which replaced the Red Label's traction control, but what really gives this nearly three-ton car its immense poise is a revised suspension that features 57% more roll stiffness than the Red Label. The car's basic structure is also 10% stiffer which means there are no creaks and squeaks of the sort that distinguished previous generations of Bentleys.Finished in Silver Tempest with contrasting Beluga Black Hide, this Mulliner specification Arnage T was first registered on 14th August 2002. Boasting the supreme comfort to be expected from such a luxurious marque and performance, which is quite breathtaking, especially given the size of the car. The interior is rich with leather, chrome dials, turned aluminium and gadgets. The exterior is subtly understated with only its 18inch split rim wheels providing a clue to its performance. Under the bonnet, the 6,750cc twin turbocharged engine offers performance that has to be experienced, 451bhp and 654ft-lbs of torque propel the car to 60mph in 5.5 seconds and on to 179 mph. Reported by the vendor to run and drive very well. This example comes supplied with a V5C registration document and a comprehensive service history completed by main dealer and Bentley specialists, most recently by the well respected Paul Bradshaw. This lovely example certainly offers exceptional value for money. Consigned by Will Penrose.BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTEDCOMPREHENSIVE SERVICE HISTORY

JBA Motors was a company based in Norwich that makes the JBA Falcon. The company was originally named JBA Engineering and the name came from the first letter of the surnames of the three partners who founded the firm, Kenneth Glyn Jones, John Barlow and David George Ashley. They were all engineers at British Leyland. John Barlow later left the company and it was run by Ken Jones and Dave Ashley until 2004. Sadly, the company went into administration in 2007.Originally registered in April 2003 this JBA is fitted with a 2.0 litre Ford Pinto engine. The twin choke Weber carburettor and attractive power to weight ratio ensures this is an open top car that offers brisk performance. A five-speed gearbox makes driving on longer journeys more comfortable and the wet weather gear helps as we all know the British weather can be a little unpredictable at times. The Ford Mustang was the brainchild of Lee Iacocca and was branded as the first 'Pony Car', it was born out of a need to compete with the flood of European sports cars coming into the USA in the Sixties. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9th 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on April 17th 1964. The Mustang was only available as a hardtop coupé and convertible until September 1964, it was the fastback that drew the interest of Carroll Shelby which extended the iconic reach of the Ford Mustang and firmly put it into the category of motoring legends. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and became a popular car to customise, from engine upgrades to racing stripes, no two Mustangs are often found the same. Ford kept the Mustang relatively cheap with a list price of $2,368, making the car extremely popular. This Mustang is beautifully presented in the style of the iconic movie star car, of the 1968 Steve McQueen film, Bullitt. Our vendor has completely restored the car during his tenure, with virtually no stone left unturned. The bodywork was completely restored in 2014, with many brand-new panels being used and it still presents in excellent condition today, it was clearly carried out to a very high standard. The interior presents very well overall, with new carpet, three-point front seat belts and rear lap belts fitted. Power comes from a fully rebuilt and upgraded 302 cubic inch roller rocker V8 with Magnum 224/224 cams, Holley 600 carburettor, MSD Streetfire CDI ignition, Hedder shorty headers, electronic fuel pump, Powermaster alternator, aluminium radiator and Namco stainless steel exhaust. The engine was fully set up on a rolling road in August 2022 and produced 310bhp. Mated to the engine is a rebuilt C4 automatic gearbox with Lok floor shifter and quick shift kit fitted. The car has been fully rewired and also a halogen headlight conversion, a vast improvement over the original. To keep all of that added grunt under control, the car has been fitted with a rack and pinion power steering setup, new front shock absorbers and springs and adjustable strut rods. Stopping power comes from power assisted front disc brakes and refurbished rear drums. This is an excellent example of the ever popular ‘Bullitt’ Mustang, which has been nothing short of a labour of love for our vendor and is being offered to auction with a sizeable history file, including dyno print out, Marti report, original factory build sheets and many invoices from the build. When launched in 1989 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW 8 Series felt like a glimpse into the future with its angular styling. An upmarket range with superior performance and price tag to match, the 8 Series was designed to be a stand alone premium model although seen to be the successor to the 6 Series. The 8 Series was offered in 830i, 840Ci and 850i/Ci form and from mid-1995, production phased in the newer 4.4 litre M62B44 engine, which had better fuel economy and more torque, though power output remained unchanged.Finished in the attractive colour combination of Titanium Silver over a Black Leather interior, this V8-powered 840Ci boasts the lesser-seen ‘Sport’ pack comprising stiffer ‘Nürburgring’ suspension system, M Aerodynamics bodykit (complete with smaller door mirrors etc) and split-rim cross spoke alloy wheels. Supplied new by Bridgegate BMW and first registered as ‘T246 NAU’ on 27th June 1999. The "Heritage" edition first released in 1998 intended to hark back to the early days of Land Rover in the 1940s. Available in 90 or 110 variants, the Heritage was only available in the two original colours offered by the company: the dark bronze green and the light pastel Atlantic green. A metal mesh-effect front grille, body-coloured alloy wheels and wing mirrors and silver-painted door and windscreen hinges were all employed to make the Heritage look similar to the original Series I of 1948. Inside, special instruments were used, with black-on-beige displays. The powertrain was the standard Td5 diesel engine and five-speed manual transmission. In 1998, the Defender was fitted with an all-new 2.5-litre, five-cylinder in-line turbodiesel engine, badged the Td5. The Tdi could not meet upcoming Euro III emissions regulations so the Td5 replaced the Tdi the engine used electronic control systems and produced 122 hp, 11 hp more than the Tdi, with improved refinement. For the 2002 model year, further refinements were made to the Td5 engine to help it achieve ever-more stringent emission regulations, the later uprated 2002 TD5 engine a rarity in the later Heritage editions. We believe just 270 Heritage Editions were built for the Defender’s 50th anniversary. This one of a kind Heritage Anniversary Edition (HUE 166) is presented in Grasmere green paintwork with body colour wheel arches, Alaska White roof and HUE 166 graphics. Inside, there are more updated references to the original Land Rovers including OEM Almond cloth seats with HUE tags, a Grasmere Green facia with the iconic 4x4 advice plaque, and special chrome gear sticks. We are led to believe by the vendor’s research that this was the only TD5 Heritage Edition model in 90 body style and the later TD5 post 2002 engine. Specified with Heritage logo mudflaps and floor mats, bright aluminium finish clock and air vent bezels, interior door handles and door locks, leather gear knob and handbrake lever. Modifications to the car include an Alive stage two ECU upgrade plus EGR delete with stronger gear box and torque converter with Ashford transmission (Engine710 developed). The turbo unit and gasket have new injectors and the new 18" colour coded wheels sit on replaced suspension all round and are complimented by a Slickshift replaced clutch and flywheel. The locks have all been changed and now operate off one key and an alarm and a new Pioneer 7200 DAB Double DIN radio was fitted. The car was treated to Dynamat upgraded sound deadening. Removable Motolita Steering wheel and a plethora of interior upgrades in chrome to make the cabin not only traditional but with a modern twist. The car has a comprehensive service history and MoT certificate valid until March 2025. The MGB was first introduced in May 1962 as a direct replacement for the MGA. Ken Costello saw the possibility of fitting the larger aluminium 3528cc Rover P5B engine into the MG B GT having been sure that the handling and braking could be made to match the much improved performance; not that it needed significant changes as the V8 weighed in at around 40 pounds lighter than the four-cylinder iron blocked engine it replaced. Space was not a problem as the car had originally been designed for fitment of a V4 that was never produced. It was not until two years after the first Costello car that MG decided to follow suit. It was 1973 and the fuel crisis loomed; with British Leyland not wanting competition for the V8 engined Triumph Stag, prices of the MGB GT V8 were set high. Production ceased in 1976 with 2,591 units having been manufactured.First registered on 2nd February 1973, this pre-production MG B GT V8 was originally registered as a Police car. British Leyland sent these MG’s to selected Police forces for operational evaluation. MG B V8’s remained in production until 1976, the model was never offered for sale in the US. This example underwent a major restoration in 2009-2013 which included a bare metal respray and major mechanical items, invoices totalling some £23,000 are in the file. Presenting in the colour combination of white (unsurprisingly) and navy interior, still present is the Police sign and light on the roof (this must be covered for road use). At start of the 1990s, after the introduction of their two-seat, grand-tourer R129 SL and the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz set out to create a new compact roadster, slotted below the SL. By late 1991, under Bruno Sacco, the first design sketches were drawn up and scale models were built in the first half of 1992. Massively successful in its first year, worldwide sales hit 55,000, over double the entire nine-year production of 190 SLs and between 1996 and 2004, over 311,000 SLKs were sold. The roof design consists of a folding steel hardtop with both halves linked by a mechanism which is locked securely when the roof is closed. At the touch of a button on the centre console, a hydraulic system controls the fully automatic folding process in which the boot lid is also integrated. This superb example of this compact sports convertible has only covered just over 16,000 miles from new and has only had one owner from new. Introduced in 1962, the Elan featured a simple but effective steel backbone frame and all-independent wishbone suspension which used a modified Chapman Strut, as developed in Lotus Grand Prix cars, at the rear. Rack and pinion steering was sourced from the Triumph Vitesse and there were Girling disc brakes all round. The Elan's engine was a highly modified 1498cc (later 1558cc) Ford Cortina unit incorporating Lotus's own twin camshaft cylinder head and both the gearbox and differential came, likewise, from Ford. Introduced in November 1964, the S3 featured numerous detail styling changes and improved brakes. As one would expect given its background and specification, the Elan proved to be a highly capable circuit racer and, capitalising on the numerous successes achieved by privately entered cars, Lotus introduced their own version, the '26R', in 1964.This stunning example of the S3 presented in metallic Mitsubishi Mariana Blue with VW Zermatt silver bumpers and wheels has been fully rebuilt for fast road use over a 20-year period with tremendous care and attention to detail, using high-quality parts and has covered a mere 2,500 miles since completion. Designed to be either a fast road car or a track day car but comfortably capable of both, the car was built was using Lotus/BRM concepts and as a homage to the BRM Elans of the 60’s. The original Lotus engine has been rebuilt with QED Fuel Injection and QED 450 cams and an OMEX ECU along with all other items including the desirable block completely refurbished. The dual carburettors were removed and a fuel injection system with the ECU were installed which provides an easier start and warm-up, as well as a very smooth power band through spirited acceleration. On a rolling road set it was tuned for maximum driveability for the road (as opposed to max power) and reported at 157 bhp.The suspension is all new Tony Thompson Racing suspension, fast road specification and fully adjustable with a new Tony Thompson Racing differential and a new custom Soolec radiator fitted in the nose. A new stainless exhaust and a beautiful Paul Matty manifold has also been fitted. The brakes are new front AP disc brakes with brake bias adjustment which has been added in the cabin and the gearbox has a desirable close ratio (2.5 first gear) with a lightweight alloy bell housing with solid driveshafts also from Paul Matty.During the build new wiring looms were installed to remove any niggly wiring issues and as with any fast or track-day Lotus, the pop-up headlights have been replaced with perspex covers which are more streamlined and less problematic but also a nod to the BRM. The interior is finished to a very high standard including a new tonneau cover and new roof, an original signed Colin Chapman steering wheel and harness seat belts. The Volkswagen Beetle has been most commonly used as the basis for the beach buggy, though conversions were made from other rear-engined cars. The Beetle platform chassis was used because the rear engine layout improves traction, the air-cooled engine avoids the complexities and failure points associated with a water-cooled engine, the Beetle's front torsion bar suspension was not only considered cheap and robust, but it was also extremely easy to alter and adjust its ride-height. While early dune buggy conversions were left with no body, or featured custom bodies, fibreglass bodies, developed in the 1960s, have become the standard image of the modern buggy, and come in many shapes and sizes. This particular JAS example is believed to be one of two JAS Press show cars built by themselves as opposed to being supplied for home conversion. It appeared on the cover of a Mail On Sunday give away CD Album entitled "Feelin’Good !” which is exactly what the Beach Buggy is all about! “DOU” presents very well indeed and comes with a host of invoices and a fresh MoT test certificate. Following the owners purchase the Datsun was driven back to Sussex where it has resided ever since. Dry stored in the vendors small private collection, the Datsun was enjoyed as intended until circa 1990 where it was used less regularly and in 2022 the decision was made to recommission the 260Z ready for further road use. The works of which were undertaken by Datsun specialists, Fourways Engineering, Kent. The comprehensive recommissioning included renewal of the brakes, a major service, rebuild carburettors, remove and machine the cylinder head, replace inlet valves and valve guides, replace various bushes and bearings, and prepare for an MoT, the final cost totalling £10,381.35. Since then, the Datsun has been treated to further maintenance by Fourways including a service in 2022 at a cost of £368, and further work in January 2024 costing £532.Offered in its original colour combination of silver paintwork over a black interior, the Datsun remains extremely original having covered a mere 37,231 miles from new. The Lotus Elan was introduced in 1962 and would go on to become one of the most successful sports cars of all time. It was the first Lotus road car to use the steel backbone chassis with fibreglass bodywork embodying Colin Chapman’s minimum weight design philosophy, weighing in at just 1,600Ibs. Powered by a 1558cc, twin-cam four-cylinder engine, the Elan adopted several other firsts for a Lotus road car including four wheel disc braking, rack and pinion steering and four wheel independent suspension. Lotus debuted the Elan Sprint in 1970 at the Earls Court Motor Show with the official launch following in February 1971. The Elan Sprint went on to become the most desirable of the Elans. The power was subsequently increased to 126bhp, this in turn offered a top speed of over 120mph and a 0-60mph time of an impressive eight seconds. These performance figures were achieved through an increased compression ratio, big valve head and high lift cams.Originally registered on 9th October 1972 this Lotus presents beautifully in Colorado Orange with Cirrus White paintwork. The current vendor has covered less than 2,000 miles throughout his nine years of ownership, with the car being stored in a humidity controlled garage when not in use. We are advised the actual mileage the car has covered is 85,463 the documentation shows a speedometer change at 12,500 miles in 1976, it is thought both the engine and chassis are original. For increased reliability the distributor has been replaced with an Aldon electronic unit, the original will be supplied and can be easily be refitted if desired. We are advised the Tachometer is currently inoperative. This Elan Sprint DHC is supplied with a V5 registration document, a Lotus Certificate of Provenance, an original Lotus handbook, a Lotus service book stamped up until 1980 and a collection of servicing invoices from 1980. This example of the powerful yet graceful Continental GTC is presented in a rare colour combination of Chestnut Brown Metallic with biscuit leather trim believed to be one of just two specified in this combination worldwide. First registered on 6th November 2007 to its only owner this example has been well maintained and in May of this year had a full roof service and repair with specialists, the last service was at 66,167 miles found within the history file which includes MoT’s invoices and original sales livery. The Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW as well as the first new BMW model to be assembled in the United States. It was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie 'GoldenEye'. When launched, only the 1.9 litre straight-four engine was offered, but its 138bhp was not up to expectations. A 2.2 litre engine producing 168bhp was made available for the more enthusiastic driver and in 1997 a powerful six cylinder 2.8-litre engine producing 190bhp was an option, or a 3.0-litre straight-six with 228bhp.This 1.9 litre automatic example of the Z3 Roadster presented in Atlanta Blue Metallic with Cream leather was originally sold to Japan where it was used by a promotional company for the James Bond movie ‘GoldenEye’. Still wearing some badging and even a FIRE MISSILE button with 007 mats this is a well-kept and high specification car. The RD350 is a two-stroke motorcycle produced by Yamaha from 1973 to 1975. It evolved directly from the piston port (pre-reed valve intake tract), front drum-braked, five-speed Yamaha 350 cc "R5". The engine is an air-cooled, parallel twin, six-speed (in some markets, such as the UK, the first model was sold in five-speed form), reed valve-equipped intake tract two-stroke engine. The bike is usually referred to as a sport bike. The stock bike made 39 bhp at 7500 rpm very fast for the time. A contemporary of the RD is the Kawasaki H2 750cc Triple that produced 74 bhp. This 1974 example imported from the USA in 2019, is presented in Ruby Red with a touch of pin stripe. The Bentley Mulsanne is named after the Mulsanne Straight of the Le Mans racing circuit, Bentley cars having won six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the past. Bentley brought back the Mulsanne nameplate that was last used in 1992; this model replaces the hugely successful Arnage and was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2009. In keeping with the Arnage, the Mulsanne retained the 6750cc, V8 power unit, the engine was lighter and featured cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing to improve fuel efficiency. It was the first flagship car to be independently designed by Bentley Motors in nearly 80 years; the last being W.O. Bentley's 8 litre model in 1930. Originally registered on 1st October 2011 this 2012 model year Bentley is finished in the colour combination of Onyx with Beluga leather interior. Already a very well-appointed car, this example comes with TV screens to the rear headrests offering an even more relaxed way to be driven. The sports version of Edward Turner's trend-setting Speed Twin, the Tiger 100 was launched in 1938, reappearing in 1946 with telescopic forks in place of the original girders, and separate dynamo and magneto instead of the pre-war version's mag-dyno. An alloy cylinder head and barrel were adopted for 1951, these and other engine improvements boosting power to 32bhp, while a swinging-arm frame and 8"-diameter front brake (first seen on the 650cc Tiger 110) were fitted from 1954 onwards. A splayed-port cylinder head with twin carburettors became available from the start of the 1957 model year, and this would represent the ultimate development of the Tiger 100, which in mid-1959 was replaced by the new, unitary construction Tiger 100A.The supplied Triumph Motorcyle Club correspondence shows this wonderful Tiger 100 to have been manufactured on 30th May 1956 and dispatched to Blacknell Motors Ltd in Derby on 5th June 1956. The Bentley S3 was a supremely stylish motorcar dating back to the 1950s with the enhanced Continental model taking this to an even higher level. The coupé body, by coachbuilders Park Ward, is beautifully refined while remaining purposeful and with a strong road presence. This particular S3 Continental left the Park Ward Willesden factory and delivered to Jack Barclay Ltd before changing hands and leaving for foreign climbs. With time spent in the USA followed by the Middle East, it was then repatriated back to its country of manufacture, the UK, in 2022.As it stands today, the condition is generally good throughout, featuring classic two-door coupé Continental styling. The panel-gaps and shut lines look good while subtle tailfins add an additional yet subtle feeling of speed even whilst stationary. To the fore, the imposing chromed Bentley radiator with winged ‘B’ emblem ensure this car’s pedigree with the white paintwork is thought to be original. The chrome trim is well polished and all the lamp lenses seem clear with the distinctive offset Halogen headlamps an interesting feature complemented by an additional pair of Lucas foglamps mounted to the front bumper. The car runs on steel wheels with large, chromed hubcaps whist under the bonnet lies the extremely capable 6.2 litre, V8 engine delivering power through an automatic gearbox with power steering and servo-assisted brakes. The interior has recently been detailed further enhancing the sumptuous leather seating and highly-figured burr walnut veneer dashboard and door trims. The lacquer appears to be free from scratches, chips and lifting and a full complement of instruments can be found surrounding the traditional steering wheel although it should be noted that there is some minor condensation within one or two of the gauges. The original tinted smoked glass sun visors can still be found in situ to shade the occupants when required. It was originally specified with Sundym glass to the rear windows and rear quarter lights. To complete the luxurious package, a full length sunroof was specified by the first owner as well as an electric arial, electric windows and rear coat hooks as can be seen by the enclosed copy of the original Bentley build sheets. The Alfa Romeo Spider is a two-seater, front-engined, rear-drive roadster manufactured and marketed by Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1994 in four distinct generations, or "series", each with modifications ranging from modest to extensive. As successor to the Giulia Spider, the Spider remained in production for almost three decades. The first three series were assembled by Pininfarina the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider of that series was manufactured in April 1993—the last rear-wheel drive Alfa Romeo before the Alfa Romeo 8C of 2007.The Series 4 launched in 1990, with Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection, full-width body-coloured plastic bumper fascias, an electric cooling fan, full-width rear taillights, on-board diagnostics and eliminated the much criticized front under-bumper and rear trunk-lid spoiler of previous series.Finished in the classic Italian colour combination of Rosso red with Tan interior this low mileage Series 4 example has been with its current owner for over 20 years during which time it has covered only 11000kms evidenced by its annual MoT history, most of which were regular trips to the Le Mans 24 hour race. The car was treated to a respray approximately ten years ago to rectify stone chips and general wear and tear as such still looks extremely fresh today. With the classic Alfa Romeo twin cam engine and five-speed gearbox these Spiders not only look fabulous but have huge driver appeal. The Alfa Romeo Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993 and is widely regarded as a design classic. It remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The final Alfa Romeo Spider and the last rear wheel drive vehicle produced before the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione debuted in May 2012 was produced in April 1993. The first presentation of the car, as a prototype, was at the Turin Motor Show in 1961; however, the continuing success of existing models and the economic challenges facing Italy at the time meant that the first pre-launch Spiders only began to emerge from the Pininfarina production line at the end of 1965. The 1300 and 2000 cars were modified in 1974 and 1975 respectively to include two small seats behind the front seats, becoming a 2+2.This right hand drive Alfa Romeo Spider was originally in South Africa and has been imported into the UK and is now registered accordingly, however it should be noted that although this is obviously a later model the DVLA recorded the car as being manufactured in 1975. It is fitted with a 2.0 litre engine which also has a turbo fitted to it. The bodywork is in good condition as is the biscuit-coloured interior. At the Pack Horse Inn, Affetside, Alan Hunter showed his two friends Ian Foster and Tony Rogers a brochure of a Volkswagen, rear engined fibreglass replica of a Bugatti Type 35 he had picked up on a business trip to America. Ian Foster, once a chassis designer for Daimler, demonstrated on the back of a cigarette packet, how a strong chassis could be produced using the American body moulds to end up with a front engined version. In short the Worsley Bugatti was born. However, Ian remembered from his days at Daimler, Worsley was the nickname for a Friday car – a duff one - so a search was made for a new name. In the end Trafford Engineering Automotive Limited (TEAL) was decided upon. In 1986, Bob Jones purchased TEAL Cars from Ian Foster. Bob developed (with chassis builder Peter Farrell) the early T35 to accept a more authentic aluminium coachwork. On the 5th October 1986 the first all aluminium Teal was born. Public reaction was highly positive with the company selling 16 cars in the first six months. The TEAL was further developed with the Types 43, 44, 52 and 59 versions also being manufactured. TEAL Cars finally ceased production in 1998.Built for the original owner in 1988 (circa) this lovely Teal is built on a steel VW chassis with a marine quality plywood floor, aluminium body work with brass and stainless steel additions. Following the launch of the 911/996, Porsche launched the GT3, the first 996 variant intended for the racetrack. Its 3.6 litre engine was derived from the GT1 and delivered 360bhp at 7,200rpm, offering 60 additional horsepower over the base 3.4 litre motor in the standard Carrera. It was also fitted with adjustable suspension and a unique body kit, including a dual-plane rear wing. The interior featured sports seats, whilst some of the interior trim was removed to keep weight down. Porsche also built a track only version of the GT3, dubbed the GT3 Club Sport. Only a handful of differences can be noted in comparison to the GT3, including the fitment of a full roll cage and a Nomex covered driver’s seat with side airbags omitted. Whilst not generally intended for daily driving, this edition was track-ready in every aspect and able to compete in a number of racing series worldwide.First registered on 30th June 2003, the fantastic Gen.II 996 GT3 on offer here is a UK market C16 car that was specified with the desirable Club Sport package. Including more track focused elements such as fixed back bucket seats, roll cage, fire extinguisher and the removal of the side airbags. By the late 1980s, ABS (Auto Build-Up Services Ltd.) completed and manufactured a high quality example od the Scorpion kit car, albeit, at a price. Two versions were offered; the Scorpion, fully enclosed as per the original and the Monaco, an open top adaptation. To achieve the strength required for the convertible, partners that had worked for the Chevron and Shadow racing teams designed the space frame chassis. Not only would this chassis handle superbly but would also increase cabin space for improved driver and passenger comfort over the original. The ABS Scorpion kit car was produced from 1986 until 1991 with American V8 power. The car was made to be able to accept a range of V6 and V8 engines which gave the car a fantastic performance due to their light weight. This outstanding labour of love is a testament to those who both modified and customised the car when built. Presented in Ice White, the ABS Scorpion (Anniversary Model) is not a cheap car to create in the first place and to get right and then customise to this level would have cost in excess of £150,000. Climbing into the car via the automatic scissor doors, you sit upon Anniversary-style seats looking ahead at two fully digital dashboards, one an iPad and one much like the modern digital dash display in line with cars today. If the looks of were not futuristic enough, sitting in the driver seat makes you feel like you are in a spaceship all before you fire up the 3.9 litre V8 engine burbling through custom exhausts. One of Ford's longest-running model designations, the Escort remained in production for over 30 years, evolving through Mk’s I to VI between 1968 and 2001. Following Ford's established policy of offering high-performance versions of its more humdrum models, the XR3 'hot hatch' first appeared in 1981 on the Mk. III Escort, becoming the XR3i with the addition of fuel injection to its 1.6-litre overhead-cam CVH engine in 1983. The car offered here is an example of the 'Mk. IV' Escort, effectively a refreshed Mk III, which was a new introduction in March 1986 and front-wheel drive like its immediate predecessor. "When engineers at Ford added fuel injection to the XR3's 1.6-litre engine in 1983, they created a performance legend. While the Peugeot 205 GTi was faster and sharper to drive, it was the Escort's mix of sporty looks, bargain price and eager performance that made it a hot hatch hit with British motorists during the Eighties." - Auto Express. This 1987 Ford Escort XR3i, fitted with the factory sunroof was purchased by the vendors husband in 2006 when the car had covered 48,000 miles from new, while in his ownership he added a further 22,000 miles bringing the total to just over 70,000 miles which is confirmed by the huge history file containing old MoT test certificates and invoices for over £9000 spent on maintaining it. Produced between 1961 and 1967, the Triumph TR4 combined a new, modern, and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti, with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation, and an optional hardtop. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Following on from the TR4, the new TR4A was phased in smoothly at the beginning of 1965 and introduced an all new independent rear suspension system (IRS), which provided exceptional rear wheel camber control with excellent wheel travel while softer springs improved the ride quality. The press was happy to see an all independent car, and Triumph was pleased to be the first British car manufacturer to have all independent suspensions under every car in their line-up. At the Sebring 12 Hours in 1966, ample proof of the validity of the IRS was provided when three IRS equipped TR4As achieved a remarkable 1-2-3 class victory. This home market TR4A is truly beautiful. The condition of the car is remarkable and the specification second to none. First dispatched in January 1966 it was specified in Signal Red with black interior, wire wheels, a heater and overdrive gearbox. With a Surrey top, this is as desirable as they come. The car had a full body-off restoration around 2008, at which time the chassis received a complete overhaul as well as replacing the floors and outer sills on the body before being resprayed. The engine was rebuilt at the same time by John Knights Engineers in Norwich and the car also received new electrics, upgraded suspension bushes, springs and universal joints. A new stainless exhaust system was also fitted. In April 2019 a new clutch was fitted and the gearbox rebuilt. The car looks fantastic and the brightwork is excellent as are the wire wheels and interior. The door gaps and general panel fit are very good and this wonderful little car has just benefitted from extensive tuning making this car run beautifully before bringing it to sale. The vendor reports the car to run and drive extremely well with the overdrive gearbox shifting perfectly.Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, BMI Heritage Certificate, owner’s handbook and file of receipts and history of the car’s life as well as two sets of keys. It is rare to find a TR4A in such stunning condition and with such a desirable specification. This pretty little British sports classic is ready to be admired wherever it goes. Mercedes-Benz first introduced an SL model in 1954 following an original idea by American importer Max Hoffman who foresaw a market for a car tailored to affluent Americans in the booming post war United States. It has remained in production, in various guises and model years in the seven decades since then making the SL the second longest single series ever produced by the German manufacturer. This stylish looking Mercedes started life as a 380SL in 1983 when it was purchased from Mayfair Mercedes on Park Lane. The car was used as a daily driver by its first owner for the next fifteen years. Around 2011, it was decided to treat this convertible to a bare metal restoration. During this process, a 5.0 litre engine was fitted. Only 60,000 miles have been covered with this engine. The car benefits from the rear seat option, a factory hardtop and featured in a 2012 edition of Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine. Our vendor purchased the car very recently, with plans to use it whilst his other classic was being restored, but has decided to sell the car and put the money towards the ongoing restoration instead. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until April 2025. In the spring of 1960, a Giardiniera (gardener) estate had been added to the 500 range. Built on a four-inch longer wheelbase than the other model produced, the Giardiniera featured a single side-hinged rear door and carried its engine horizontally beneath the rear load platform, thus increasing available luggage space. Testing a Giardiniera in 1961, Autocar magazine was mightily impressed by FIAT’s new baby: ‘The Italians match their affinity with micro-motoring to a happy flair for making little cars really well, and within the limitations of its body dimensions and engine power the Giardiniera is a real masterpiece.’ The miniature estate was found capable of carrying four adults and 2.5cwt of luggage (alternatively, one adult and 4cwt) while returning an impressive 46.8mpg over 1,000 miles. From the spring of 1968 Giardiniera production was transferred to Autobianchi and finally ceased in 1977.This lovely, restored example was first registered in January 1970 in Italy and is finished in its original colour of white with black vinyl trim. Boasting a full length vinyl sunroof and those fantastic suicide doors, 499cc engine and four-speed manual gearbox this is a very practical and fun classic car. Forming part of a large private collection this has recently had a light recommissioning including new battery, starter motor and fuel tanks cleaned out. The first-generation Boxster (the 986) was introduced in late 1996, in 2000, the new Boxster S variant was developed with a larger 3.2 litre engine and in 2003, styling and engine output was upgraded on both variants. With prices rising, the later 3.2 litre S models with manual gearboxes are becoming increasingly sought after.Owned for over 10 years, this extremely well cared-for example comes from the stable of a dyed-in-the-wool Porsche enthusiast sitting amongst, as it does, a number of other similar marque models. It has been sensibly upgraded with Porsche M030 sports suspension, a Cargraphic stainless steel exhaust system and a Parr Powerkit 4 adding approximately 35bhp to the already spirited output. It should be noted that it has had the IMS bearing attended to therefore giving the new owner peace of mind. This combined with four new Michelin Pilot Sports fitted recently and a major service completed approximately 1,000 miles ago with Parr all to the tune of £4,899 are all to the car’s credit. Also enclosed is a new Alpine CD/stereo (as well as the original Porsche unit), the correct Porsche owner’s pack complete with fully stamped up service booklet and the original Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB and Tracker wallet. The Lancia Fulvia was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 with production running all the way through to 1976. Fulvia’s are notable for their role in motor racing history, including winning the International Rally Championship in 1972. On testing it in 1967, Road and Track summed up the Fulvia as ‘a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force’. The Fulvia Berlina was designed by Antonio Fessia to replace the Lancia Appia with which it shared almost no components. The Appia was a rear wheel drive car, however, the Fulvia moved to front wheel drive like the Flavia. The general engineering design of the Fulvia was identical to that of the Flavia with the major exception of the engine, the Flavia having a four cylinder horizontally opposed engine and the Fulvia a 'narrow angle' vee configuration as featured on most production Lancia’s. The Fulvia used a longitudinal engine mounted in front of its transaxle. An independent suspension in front, used wishbones and a single leaf spring, while a solid axle with a panhard rod and leaf springs were used in the rear. Four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes were fitted to first series Fulvia’s. With the introduction of the second series in 1970, the brakes were uprated with larger Girling calipers all round and a brake servo.First registered on 1st March 1976, this wonderfully original Fulvia has enjoyed a pampered life in recent years. The vendor purchased the car from Historics in 2021, previously being owned by multiple classic car collectors. Presented in its original colour of Lancia Blue, the car benefitted from a respray around 18 years ago. The paint has aged well and presents in good order. The cream interior is also clean and shows little signs of wear. Ziebart rust proofed from new the Fulvia benefits from an electric fuel pump and stainless steel exhaust. During the vendors ownership the Lancia has been looked after and maintained by Lancia Specialists, Omicron Engineering with a total of circa £4,600 spent including recent brake caliper overhaul and MoT until June 2025. Supplied with a V5C registration document, large history file and a workshop manual. The E23 BMW 7 Series range is firmly established as a modern classic. The E23 offers the opportunity to drive a classically styled car that has at least a sprinkling of the sort of modern safety and convenience features we’ve all come to know, love, and rely on. In this case that means an anti-lock braking system (the first BMW to be so equipped), an on-board computer and check control panel, a heating system, and double-link front suspension for sure-footed, high-speed travel. All of which is fitted to a beautiful three-box body with that beguiling ‘shark nose’ front end. Powered by a series of world-renowned straight-six engines, its credentials are so solid that the only wonder is why it took the E23 so long to establish itself as one of the most desirable youngtimers out there.Registered new on 24th May 1978 this UK supplied example is presented in very good condition throughout and has more recently been part of the vendors private collection in Dublin, Ireland, and registered accordingly. Offered in white coachwork over a blue interior the BMW has been well maintained throughout its life. The paintwork presents well as does the interior and engine bay. Showing a mere 42,498 miles on the odometer the BMW is accompanied by a sizeable history file containing various sundry bills, the original BMW book pack, service records, old Mot test certificates, and the current Irish registration document. The BMW M3 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. The vehicle first entered production in 1986 and quickly became known for its high performance and excellent driving dynamics. The E46 generation of M3s was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was the third generation of the M3. The E46 generation was powered by the legendary S54 3.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine, which produced 343bhp and could boast a redline of 8000rpm. This power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, or the optional SMG semi automatic. The E46 M3 was also equipped with several performance features, including a limited-slip differential, larger brakes and improved suspension. The E46 M3 was praised for its handling and power, and it is still considered to be one of the best M3s ever made. This example is presented in Carbon Black with an Imola Red interior and was originally supplied by Jacksons BMW Jersey in 2005, who serviced the car up until 2010, by which point it had covered less than 13,000 miles. Being a Jersey car, this example has covered very low mileage, compared to most other M3’s on the market, having covered less than 49,000 miles in its 19-year lifetime. The UK Taxes have been paid for the car, so all that’s left to do, is to apply for a V5C registration document for the new owner. The most recent service undertaken was in July 2023, the engine and diff oil were changed, a new rear spring was fitted, rear lower control arm bushes were replaced, and a new steering angle sensor was fitted. The history file contains all original manuals and the service book showing the important running in service was carried out by Jacksons in September 2005 and a further four services by them. The car has then regularly been serviced by independent garages and specialists and presents in excellent condition today. The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1957 and was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dashboard. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to be so fitted. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 and subsequent TR3A's became known for their superior braking ability making it an autocross favourite. In 1957, the TR3 was replaced by an updated version, the TR3A, which included new wide front grille, exterior door handles, lockable boot handle and came with a full toolkit as standard, although the TR3A's still retained the 1991cc engine.Completed on 3rd September 1958, this TR3A was built in left-hand specification and destined for Canada. Ordered in Signal red with black interior along with the optional extras of a heater and 590 tyres better suited for the colder climate. Believed to have been imported around 1990, the owner had intended to restore the car himself but sadly died in the late 1990’s. Having been in storage for almost 20 years, the car was bought by Mr. Malcolm Harrison on 16th June 2017 who set about restoring the car to its original colour from the ground up to the lovely vehicle we see here. The accompanying photos show the body removed from the chassis with the various repairs carried out. The body was given a bare metal respray as well and the car having a full “Polybush” kit fitted along with Aeroquip brake hoses, rebuilt brakes, rebuilt differential and a full rewire. Under the vendor’s ownership Minilite type wheels have been fitted and the engine fettled and fine tuned further. He reports the car to run and drive very well with the overdrive gearbox engaging and disengaging seamlessly.Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, BMI Heritage Certificate and a file of receipts. The Ford Zephyr was manufactured by Ford of Britain from 1952 to 1972. Initially it was sold as a more powerful six-cylinder model to complement the four-cylinder Ford Consul and, from 1962, the Zephyr itself was offered in both four and six-cylinder versions, the Consul having been discontinued. The first of the Zephyr range was a lengthened version of the four-cylinder 1508cc Consul engine with a 2262cc six-cylinder engine producing 68bhp. The Zephyr came with a three-speed gearbox, controlled by a column-mounted gear lever. The front suspension design employed what would later come to be known as Macpherson struts while a more conventional configuration for the rear suspension used a live axle with half-elliptic springs. The car could reach just over 80mph and returned 23mpg. The Ford Zephyr Six was available with four-door saloon, estate and two-door convertible bodies. The convertible version was made by Carbodies and had a power-operated hood. This fabulous Zephyr 6 was restored to a very good standard some 10 years ago, photographic evidence of the rebuild is available with the history file. The knowledgeable vendor describes the car as a sound example and driving with no known faults. The 2262cc straight-six engine starts immediately when requested and runs very well, the triple S.U. carburettors ensuring this Zephyr 6 offers a relatively brisk performance. The column change gearbox operates smoothly and the brakes operate correctly. Finished in light blue with a contrasting dark blue interior, this really is an eye-catching car. The hood operates electrically and is in fully working order. This award winning Zephyr 6 Mk. I Convertible is beautiful and needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. Classic Fords have seen a dramatic increase in demand of late, examples such as this one are sure to continue this trend. Consigned by Stewart Banks.
