INDIA VISITORS BOOK : Kept by Lady Adrana Allesandra, wife of Chief Commissioner of Delhi Sir William Hailey the Chief Commissioner of Delhi, later Governor of the Punjab, and Govenor of the United Provinces, between 1913 and 1934. The book was kept at their various homes Metcalf House and Racquet House in Delhi; Peterhof and Barnes Court in Simla; and Government House in Lahore. Containing hundreds of signatures of the 'great and the good.' Noted : Prince Arthur and Princess Alexandra, Princess Helene, Indian royal and princely families, British aristocracy, Viceroys of India, Prime Ministers, Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Barker who both were responsible for the design of New Delhi, Sir Marc Aurel, Prince Ranjitsinghji and other cricketers, Duke of Hamilton (the first man to fly a plane over Everest, Hugh Ruttledge, other climbers, Edith Downing (suffragette), Clement Attlee. etc, etc. Size : 260 x 210 mm, padded leather spine detached.
