Ernest Charles Luscott was born in Clun 9/2/00, enlisted in Shropshire L.I. 31/12/14 stating his age was 19, landed in France 23/6/15, returned to UK 19/8/15 and discharged 23/8/15 having made a mis-statement as to age on enlistment. He then enlisted in Navy as a boy 3/3/16, still serving in 1929. With copied RN record, Army MIC and page from service papers.

Ernest William Welch’s ISM was announced in the London Gazette dated 29th March 1957 as Skilled Labourer, Command Ordnance Depot, War Office, Portsmouth. With copied LG and MIC, numbers confirmed.
Rare South Irish Horse 1914 presentation prize cup made by West & Son with Dublin 1913 hallmarks, engraved in 5 lines: South Irish Horse, 1914, Recruits Best Shot, Private J. Rankin, Presented by Col Lord Decies D.S.O. Cup is 15cm tall, weighs 236g with additional 5.5cm tall wooden base, generally very fine. With page of typed research, Joseph Henry Rankin was the first casualty in the South Irish Horse in WW1, it appears that he fell out of the back of a truck in his sleep between Paris and Boulogne and was immediately killed on 16th October 1914 and is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
