Scarce First World War Royal Marine Artillery Officers' sword with three bar hilt, etched blade retaining all original polish, decorated with panel 'C. W. Comyns. R.M.A.', Royal Arms and Royal Artillery, in original pigskin field service scabbard with frog and Sam Browne belt. Lieutenant Charles W. Comyns joined the Royal Marine Artillery on 3rd March 1916 and was attached to the Howitzer Brigade. He was promoted Lieutenant 3rd March 1917 and was killed in action Friday November 9th 1917 and is buried at the Belgian Cemetery of Steenkerke, Flanders. He was awarded The French Legion d'honneur and Croix de Guerre. A War Hero's sword CONDITION REPORT Scabbard in good order with some small nicks to leather. Blade retains much original polish, has some small black marks from fingerprints
