The Lone Ranger wore his mask throughout the series to keep his identity secret as he brought justice to outlaws. Accredited as being ABC's first hit television program, The Lone Ranger was one of the highest-rated shows in 1950. Actor Clayton Moore played the masked hero in 169 episodes from 1949-1951 and 1954-1957, and in two feature films in 1957 and 1959. This mask originated from the collection of Moore's daughter Dawn, one of three masks previously displayed in her father's personal library in his home. Of the other two, one resides in a private collection and the other is on permanent display in the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. This black reinforced felt domino mask features an adjustable elastic strap. STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980)/STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) - Anthony Daniels Collection: Pair of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) Hands - A pair of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) hands from Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Richard Marquand's Return of the Jedi. Daniels wore metallic gold-color hands as part of his distinctive C-3PO costume.Based on concept artwork by Ralph McQuarrie and designed and created by sculptor Liz Moore, the C-3PO costume heavily evolved throughout the films. This process included the hands, which began, in Star Wars: A New Hope, as separate finger covers worn over black gloves, and were later upgraded to simpler, one-piece cast gloves for the sequels. These rubber gloves were finished in a gold-color vacuum-metalized plating, and feature gold-color, -plated plastic and metal greeblies affixed to the knuckles and the finger joints. The palms are painted black with red, yellow, and white hand-painted wires running down the fingers to the wrists, where there is an intentional production-made split and a metal snap fastener closure. This allowed the hands to be easily applied and secured to Daniels' own. This pair of hands exhibits silvering and wearing away of the plating and paint around the fingers from production use and age. This is most notable on the left hand, which features cracking all over and a slightly sticky sheen. The lot comes presented on a custom black wooden display stand. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2014) - Peter "Star-Lord" Quill's (Chris Pratt) Photo-Matched Hero Quad Blaster - Peter "Star-Lord" Quill's (Chris Pratt) photo-matched hero quad blaster from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord wielded his signature dual quad blasters throughout the film, including during his prison break from the Kyln alongside Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Groot (Vin Diesel). During the first weeks of production in 2013, Star-Lord's hero blasters were displayed at the Marvel booth at San Diego ComicCon along with other props and key costume pieces from the film, including Star-Lord's helmet. After the event, the blasters were returned to set, where they were further scratched and modified during production use. Patterns on the grip, paint on the front muzzle, and scratching on the lower barrel of this blaster photo-match it to the blaster on the left side of the 2013 display, while distressing along its upper barrel also matches to the blaster on the right side of the display, indicating that production assembled this blaster from parts of both hero blasters exhibited at ComicCon.This ornately detailed Star-Lord Quad blaster is the first metal hero example ever offered to the public. It is constructed from multiple custom materials, including metals like machined aluminum and brass, as well as resin. Every component that appears metallic, including the upper and lower barrel sections, is cold to the touch, suggesting that they are either made of or plated with metal. The blaster features a resin grip with a black and gray "hydro-dipped" carbon fiber design, a curved fin designed for holding with the right hand, and a distinctive hole drilled near the trigger to allow it to holster securely to Star-Lord's costume. Two custom metal screws are inset into the grip through the lower barrel. The lower barrel's tip also features an extended inner section consisting of sophisticated machined aluminum and brass components, while both barrels feature rounded machined aluminum endpieces inset with custom metal screws.Additionally, the upper muzzle features custom machined aluminum parts as well as LED lighting components, though their current functionality remains untested. The muzzle also features detailed fins on both sides held together by an intricate brass and metal armature. The blaster exhibits scuffing with scratching visible on the grip. Dimensions: 14" x 1.75" x 7.5" (35.75 cm x 4.5 cm x 19 cm)Contains electronics; see electronics notice in the Buyer's Guide.Estimate: $15,000 - 30,000Bidding for this lot will end on Tuesday, March 12th.
