LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (1986) - Lyle Conway Collection: Full-size Audrey II "Mean Green Mother" Puppet Head Leaf and Growing Plant Coffee Can Label with Conway-autographed Funko Pop! - A full-size Audrey II "Mean Green Mother" puppet head leaf and growing plant coffee can label from Frank Oz's Little Shop of Horrors with an Audrey II Funko Pop! autographed by Audrey II puppet creator Lyle Conway. Audrey II, a manipulative talking plant, quickly grew out of the coffee can Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis) stored her in by feeding on blood - first Seymour's, and eventually others'. This lot originates from the personal collection of Conway, a long-time collaborator of Oz's across several previous Jim Henson productions and, as head of the film's creature effects shop, the creator of Audrey II's ornate design. For his work on the film, Conway received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Visual Effects alongside Bran Ferren and Martin Gutteridge. Conway's team constructed six sizes of puppet - each with a different production nickname referencing its scale - to reflect the flesh-eating plant's growth, with a combination of humans and animatronics used to make her move and speak. This lot consists of one large vacuum-formed plastic leaf created for and used on the second-largest of the puppets, nicknamed "Suppertime," as well as for the head of the largest puppet, aka "Mean Green Mother." The leaf features a metal "spine" on its underside for structure, all of which is hand-painted green with purple splotches and textured with leafy veins to appear organic. Also included is a back-up wraparound coffee can label hand-made by the Pinewood Studios sign department by air-brushing and hand-painting Maxwell House Coffee logos onto a silk-screened blue rubber skin. The label was designed to expand and distort as Audrey II outgrew the can, with pneumatic rams used to push the can's sides outward. For their groundbreaking work, Conway gave each member of the sign department a bottle of Dom Perignon.Further, the lot includes an unopened Audrey II Funko Pop! Numbered "654," signed on its window in green ink by Conway and placed inside a clear plastic case. The leaf exhibits some fractures and discolouration along its edges, while the label exhibits stickiness and minor warping from age. These prosthetic pointed ear tips were an essential part of Legolas' elven appearance. RED DWARF (T.V. SERIES, 1988-2020) - Production-made Starbug Model Miniature - A production-made model-miniature Starbug from the BBC sci-fi comedy TV series Red Dwarf. The notoriously unreliable Starbug shuttles first appeared in Series III, and were the crew's primary mode of transportation to different planets, although they were often crashed by the crew. This particular model was made for the Series VII episode "Tikka To Ride", specifically for the final scene after Lister (Craig Charles) loads up on thousands of vindaloos and poppadoms, and Rimmer (Chris Barrie) jettisons the cargo bay section of the ship, leaving Lister drifting in space with only his curries for company. Before the model was completed, the production decided that a CGI approach would be better, so it was never completed and given its distinctive space-worn paint effect. The model is made from moulded plastic in two sections and accessorised using the 'kit-bashing' method, even featuring a Transformer's head on the engine section. It has original decals and a clear cockpit screen, and has since been fitted with replica fins and legs to make it look as originally intended. The model has some paint wear and the decals have been scratched. The arm is made of silicone with a large wound carved out of the underside of the forearm. A rubber tube runs through the top of the forearm, which would have been used to flush blood through to the wound, creating the illusion of profuse bleeding. Christian had previously won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction and Set Decoration for his work as a set decorator on Star Wars: A New Hope.Full scripts from the production are a rarity compared the first two films as the production tried to stop any plot leaks, so they restricted the distribution of fully complete scripts. . STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980) - Yoda Skin Reproduction Display Derived from Original Puppet Moulds with Nick Maley Autographs - A reproduction of Yoda's skin faithfully reverse-engineered from surviving reference castings from the original moulds of the Yoda puppet created for Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Yoda, the beloved Jedi Master who trained Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on Dagobah, was brought to life with a combination of a puppet sculpted by artist Stuart Freeborn and voice acting by Frank Oz. This detailed green foam latex skin was created by Nick Maley, the makeup artist responsible for creating the original Yoda moulds under Freeborn. Maley created the foam latex skins, ears, hands, and feet for all versions of the Yoda puppet seen in the film. This painstakingly reproduced green foam latex head with flexible urethane supports in the forehead and crown comes mounted via a wooden dowel to a resin display stand painted black and filled with sand for structure. Also included are colour-printed photographs of Maley working on the Yoda puppet in 1979, both alone and with his fellow ESB makeup, hair, and creature crew members; Maley with a 2018 reconstruction of the Yoda puppet; Maley with a rebuilt animatronic Yoda in 2020; a print-out of Facebook posts made by Maley during the animatronic's rebuild; and instructions sheets for caring for the display. TRON (1982) - Sark's (David Warner) Screen-matched Helmet - Sark's (David Warner) screen-matched helmet from Steven Lisberger's sci-fi adventure Tron. The merciless program Sark wore his helmet in the neon-tinged digital world of the ENCOM mainframe, where he oversaw the battles fought on the Game Grid. This helmet matches the one seen on screen by the hood's stitching in its front neck section aligning with its black lines of tape and marker pen. The design of this helmet also matches with what is seen throughout the majority of the film; however, it interestingly features an extra chin bar, which is only seen in Sark's final scene.A groundbreaking movie, Tron was the first feature to include entirely computer-animated scenes. However, most of its iconic visual effects were created using matte photography techniques and backlit animation. The actors were shot in black-and-white on a black background, then printed on large, high-contrast film and hand-coloured using rotoscoping. This process proved so complicated and costly that it was never again used for a feature film. This spiked helmet comprises a cream-coloured leather hood with aluminium armour plating attached via strips of Velcro. The black tape and marker pen detailing on the armour and hood indicate where animators would add the glow effect. Some of the black tape exhibits peeling, while other parts are missing. Dimensions: 31 cm x 22 cm x 50 cm (12.25" x 8.75" x 19.75")Estimate: £30,000 - 60,000 M Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday, November 14th. WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (1971) - Set of Four Rusty Goffe Hand-annotated Oompa Loompa Rehearsal Music Sheets - A set of four Rusty Goffe hand-annotated Oompa Loompa rehearsal music sheets from the production of Mel Stuart's family musical Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. These sheets, obtained directly from Goffe, feature the classic music and lyrics composed by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, specifically the songs performed by the Oompa Loompas whenever a child made their absurd exit from Willy Wonka's (Gene Wilder) chocolate-factory tour. Sheet one presents Augustus Gloop's (Michael Bollner) song; sheet two Veruca Salt's (Julie Dawn Cole); sheet three Violet Beauregarde's (Denise Nickerson); and sheet four Mike Teevee's (Paris Themmen). The songs all follow the same iconic Oompa Loompa tune, with lyrics altered to reference the relevant character. Each sheet features the name of Oompa Loompa performer Rusty Goffe, with handwritten annotations in blue ink and Goffe's parts marked. Interestingly, some lyrics have been struck through and replaced in black ink. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory was Goffe's first feature film, and he has since gone on to make multiple appearances in both the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises. Dimensions (one sheet): 30.25 cm x 21.25 cm (12" x 8.5")Estimate: £5,000 - 10,000 M Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday, November 14th. JOHN LENNON - John Lennon's First Ever Vox Amp - Fawn JMI Vox AC15 Twin - A 1962 Fawn JMI Vox AC15 Twin amplifier used and owned by John Lennon during his time in The Beatles. Lennon purchased this amp in 1962 and it was the first-ever Vox amp he used as part of The Fab Four. It is arguably one of the most significant Beatles and Lennon artefacts to come to market. It was the catalyst in forming the early tone and sound of one of The Beatles, considered one of the most influential bands of all time. The amp was used in many early live performances as well as the recording of The Beatles first album Please, Please Me recorded at Abbey Road studios. The history of this item was recently covered in a comprehensive article by Guitar World. When Brian Epstein became The Beatles' manager, he decided to completely overhaul their public image, including upgrading the equipment they used to perform. Lennon and Epstein visited Hessy's Music in Liverpool and hire-purchased a Fawn Vox AC15 Twin amp in July 1962 for £123, making four payments over the next few months. A scan of the original hire-purchase agreement can be seen on page 572 of the book Vox Amplifiers: The JMI Years by Jim Elyea. On the agreement, the amp's serial number was incorrectly noted as "1583" when, at that time, the serial numbers would have been in the 4000 range, so it was actually "4583". George Harrison also acquired a Vox Fawn AC30 Twin amp around the same time. Lennon can be seen using the amplifier extensively during the early days of The Beatles' rise to fame, including the only known film footage of them performing at the world famous Cavern Club, Liverpool on August 22 1962, four days after their newly appointed drummer, Ringo Starr had joined the band. This was the birth of what we now know as the legendary Fab Four. As well as many early live performances, the amp can be seen at the Abbey Road studios during the recording of the album Please Please Me in which Lennon's distinct Vox guitar tone can be heard on such tracks as "Love Me Do", "Please, Please Me", "How Do You Do It?" and P.S. I Love You". Photographs taken by Bill Connell and Les Chadwick on 22 August 1962 document The Beatles rehearsing at the Cavern Club and show the Vox amp being used by Lennon. As Starr officially joined the group four days earlier on 18 August, these may be some of the first images to feature him as part of the band. The amp can also be seen in photos taken during the Please Please Me recording sessions at Abbey Road Studios in Studio 2 which took place in September 1962. In these images, Lennon's Vox AC15 is equipped with chrome stand, as opposed to George Harrison's Vox AC30, which has no stand. As the band's popularity grew and their touring schedule increased, in early 1963 Brian Epstein secured an endorsement deal with Vox for their exclusive use of the brand and in return Vox would supply the band with amplifiers. Recent research shows the original Beatles Fawn amplifiers can be seen being used as late as November 1963 and possibly beyond and were used in conjunction with the new Black amplifiers due to the band's extensive schedules. Notable later performances where these amps can be seen in 1963 include January 31st at Birkenhead, March 7th at Harrogate and November 1963 in Ireland. The amp comprises a pine cabinet with a fawn Rexine exterior. A previous owner of the amp, unaware of its link to Lennon and The Beatles, decided to paint its exterior matt black. This coat of paint has been meticulously removed to expose the amplifiers original Fawn covering, this along with period correct brown diamond-patterned grille-cloth and Goodman Alnico Speakers has restored the amplifier to its original 1962 Lennon, Beatles format. The top side features three leather handles and various controls, including six black pointer knobs and a voltage selector switch. A Vox Amplifier plaque on the back displays the model number "AC15" and the serial number "4358", as mentioned in Vox Amplifiers: The JMI Years. It is powered by an attached UK plug and cable and comes with a single-button Vox foot switch. The lot also includes a contemporary wheeled flight case and a metal tubular stand. The amp's exterior exhibits signs of age, including general scuffing. Some of the Rexine has peeled away, revealing the pine underneath, and there are small holes in the grille-cloth cover. However, the lot remains in remarkable overall condition, considering its age and history. This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to own a key piece of vintage equipment that established the sound of the Beatles. This lot is accompanied by a printed still.Dimensions (amp): 26.5 cm x 69.5 cm x 51 cm (10.5" x 27.25" x 20"); (displayed on stand): 35 cm x 91 cm x 94 cm (13.75" x 35.75" x 37")Special shipping required: see special shipping notice in the Buyer's Guide.Contains electronics; see electronics notice in the Buyer's Guide.Estimate: £100,000 - 200,000 M Bidding for this lot will end on Friday, November 15th. THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) - Heath Ledger Autographed Photo - An autographed photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker from Christopher Nolan's superhero sequel The Dark Knight. The announcement that Ledger would play one of popular culture's most notorious villains at first seemed surprising, given the Australian actor was previously best known for romantic and heroic roles. But Ledger proved to be powerfully compelling in the part, and his Joker remains regarded as the character's best cinematic incarnation to date. Ledger sadly died just a few months after filming, but won several posthumous awards, including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.Nolan and makeup artist John Caglione drew particular inspiration for the Joker's look from the paintings of Francis Bacon. The photograph depicts the villain with his ionic white makeup and elaborate red lipstick, which was applied by Ledger himself, as he wanted the character to feel more realistic. It is autographed by Ledger in white marker, and inscribed "To Jon Big Smile!"
