Lith. no. 3670.Mild wear along part of folding line, reinf. on verso. *Movie poster for a very early coloured silent movie by the brothers Pathé. It was called Living Flowers and shown in the first cinemas across Europe in 1906. The brothers Pathé had been pioneers in film and cinematography since 1896. In 1902 they opened branches in Europe and expanded to the U.S.A., quickly becoming the largest film equipment and production company in the world. It is still the largest cinema chain in France, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Issues 1-3 appeared in an edition of 1000, later ones expanded to 2000. Texts mainly in English and French. Moderate toning on the covers of the first three issues, issue 6 shows minor scuff, pages loose (as usual with this binding), generally in fine condition. No.6 contains 33 original lithographs by Pierre Alechinsky, Lourdes Castro, Asger Jorn, Roberto Matta, Wilfredo Lam, Antonio Saura, Topor, Samuel Buri, Reinhoud d'Haese, Jan Voss et al. Scarce set of the avant-garde periodical created and edited by Jacqueline de Jong which included essays, artwork/collages, found images and quotations concerned with such issues as topology, politics, and spectacle culture. Added is The Situationist Times 7, International Amsterdam edition, released as a pirate edition for the artist's zine 'De Nieuwe', 2017. (total 7)

[Situationists] SPUR buch Munich, Spur, 1962. Orig. cloth cover with silkscreen in colour, 28.5 x 29 cm. The volume includes all 6 issues of the group’s journal, a not-previously-released seventh issue, and the four most important manifestos. Contains 4 colour lithographs by H.P. Zimmer, H. Prem, H. Sturm and Asger Jorn and over 28 b/w lithographs by various members of Spur. Good copy in bright colours, moderate staining on the front cloth cover and slight abrasions on the spine.SPUR functioned as the German section of the Situationniste Internationale. They split by a disagreement on the role art should play in a revolutionary avant-garde organization like the SI. Meanwhile Gruppe Spur had been under the scrutiny of the German government and got in legal trouble. In the first trial of artists in Germany since the Third Reich, issue 6 of the group’s journal was seized by the police and its authors prosecuted for 'blasphemy' and 'pornography'.

The publication was advocated by Punk godfather Malcolm McLaren and Jamie Reid, who did the graphic design. Label affixed to rear wrapper quotes John Berger describing the S.I. as 'one of the most lucid and pure political formations of the 60s'. [Situationists] Guy Debord, Le Jeu de la Guerre (Board game), 1977 Paris, Les Jeux stratégiques et historiques, 1977. White cardboard box with black printed title, 37 x 29 x 3.5 cm. First commercial edition (in unknown, yet small number) produced by Debord and the French movie producer Gérard Lebovici, after a metal version was made in an edition of 3 or 4 copies.The box contains a game board consisting of a sheet of thin white felt printed with a map of black and white squares, letters and numbers, folding out to 49.5 x 55.5 cm; 34 round-shaped wooden game pieces printed with letters and a booklet with game rules, 21.5 x 26 cm, 23 pp. Aim of the game is to completely destroy the enemy and his arsenal, based on strategic war theories of Clausewitz. The box has moderate age toning, two corners are torn, else in good condition. Very rare. In 1987, Alice Becker-Ho and Guy Debord released the book Le Jeu de la Guerre that illustrates Debord's game, published by Editions Gerard Lebovici. Several versions including computer games have appeared since.

First edition, printed in 500 copies on the occasion of Ivekovic's one-woman show in the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. Staples show moderate rust, dog-ears lower right, else a fine copy. Momentous and scarce artists' book. Sanja Ivelovic (1949, Zagreb) was one of the first feminist artists to emerge from the former Yugoslavia’s experimental art scene of the 1970s. In 'Tragedy of a Venus' she presents a selection of tabloid photos of Marilyn Monroe juxtaposed with similarly composed snapshots of the artist herself, offering a reflection on the prescribed ideals of femininity by Hollywood/consumer images.

Handmade blue cloth box, 11 x 30.5 x 5 cm, featuring a gold-stamped title, tied with a ribbon. Contains 156 printed index cards of various colours, each text card accompanied by an image card. The work documents the turbulent relationship between the artist, her soon-to-be-ex Anthony McCall and her new lover Bruce McPherson.Intended as a multimedia performance piece, Schneemann read the cards aloud to an audience while images were projected on a screen behind her. The performance was staged at Franklin Furnace in New York, in November 1976, followed by a series of performances at De Appel in Amsterdam in 1977. As usual with this multiple it has some mixed up cards, as the publisher was rather careless about filling the boxes. This copy has 1 double text card (36), and 2 missing text cards (102 and 120). Officially made in an edition of 151, though less copies were actually assembled. Box and ribbon show slight fading, indexcards are mint. Extremely rare.

Signed, dated 19 Oct. 79 on the first page with an inscription 'Dear Bob, Dear Marilyn, in our kyak and with Charlie, love loves Carolee'. Dust-jacket features soiling and a few closed tears, losses and areas of skinning. The interior is very good with mild age toning.

The vhs cassette and the original box are in fine condition.

The book features her last work, a series of photographs documenting the realities of her physical and mental transformation, made in collaboration with her husband Donald Goddard. Good copy. Her work explores issues of feminism, sexuality and femininity, often using her own body, always with enormous gusto.
