Of First World War Naval and Medical History Interest - A collection of unpublished memoirs by Dr A H Harkness FRCS - 1889-1970 - in five volumes together with photographs, brass plaques, ribbon, small dress medals, qualification certificates, medical books - Dr Harkness was the first temporary Naval Surgeon to join the Royal Naval (Gazetted August 3rd 1914) for World War I - he served as Surgeon Lieutenant during the Gallipole campaign and was on the Isle of Mudos - Went to sea in submarines and was asked but not granted on the trial of the ill fated K13 - Served on HMS Europa, HMS Redbreast, HMS Vivid and HMS Emperor of India - was at the surrender of the fleet on November 21st 1918 with the Commander in Chief David Beatty had a Medical Practice in Wimpole Street, London and continued to practice up until six months of his death
