The first painted to the exterior with a band of interlocking foliate scrolls, the interior wtih a flowerhead medallion, below hatched rim, 14.7cm diam., another with honeycomb pattern to the exterior, flowerheads and beaded swags to the interior, 14.2cm diam., the third painted to the exterior with plants, reeds and flowers, the interior similarly decorated, 17.5cm diam. (3) The bowl with scrolls to exterior - with rim chip beneath glaze issuing hairline crack from rim 5cm long, glaze and firing cracks to foot, minor footrim chipping. Example with honeycomb pattern - three restored rim chips, some typical and extensive stained glaze crazing overall, minor losses to glaze and cracking to footrim.The third with extensive scratching and wear to glaze, some chipping to rim and slight losses to glaze.

The first painted in the famille verte palette with ladies before terracing and flowering prunus, another with an immortal and attendant, a third with ladies before prunus, each with poet inscription in black characters, on wooden base, 27.5cm high exc. fittings (3) All are presumably drilled through the base and are fixed to wooden base so not fully inspected.The example with the immortal and attendant is cracked and restored, with restoration yellowing somewhat. Some wear to gilding. Some slight wear to enamels overall.

The first depicting a pheasant amongst flowering prunus, titled in black characters, on a cream silk ground, 60cm x 40cm, another mounted with assorted cut-out embroideries in coloured silk, gold and silver thread, depicting a dragon, a flaming pearl, a pheasant, bats and clouds, 25cm x 34 cm (2) Overall in good order. The second example with the cut out embroideries which is mounted on what appears to be a card backing has some discolouration to the edge of the backing. Otherwise there is some very minor wear overall.

The first moulded with a seated Buddha before the wheel of Dharma flanked by apsaras, raised on plinth base, 10cm high exc. base, two South East Asian amulets, the first in bronze possibly Thai or Tibetan, cast with a standing Buddhistic figure, 7.5cm and another in gilt terracotta, moulded with a seated Buddhist figure (3) The first with small chip to front corner of terracotta base, slight surface wear, drilled at three points to base for mounting on metal plinth. Overall in good decorative order.The amulets with minor wear and surface scratching.

A CHINESE PORCELAIN KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) BLUE AND WHITE OVIFORM JAR, A BALUSTER PRUNUS CRACKED ICE GROUND VASE, A 19TH CENTURY FLUTED BLUE AND WHITE VASE, A CELADON GROUND FAMILLE ROSE BOTTLE VASE. The first painted with vases of flowers, scrolls and flowering shrubs, within panels, the 19cm high, the prunus vase with double concentric ring to base, 22.5cm high, the fluted vase painted with vases of flowers within lappet-shaped cartouches, on fret pattern ground 31cm high, the famille rose celadon vase moulded with pairs of figures before vases of flowers and terracing, 23cm high, a small meiping vase in brown monochrome glaze, 13.5cm high and a carved wooden stand (6) af The Kangxi blue and white jar - extensively cracked and repaired, chipped and with loss at shoulder. Prunus vase - lacking cover, drilled to base and with associated hairline crack. Blue and white fluted vase - large rim chip to upper rim and with further chipping to rim, large flat chip to footrim and lower part of vase, adapted as a lamp, with fittings plastered to inner vase (but not drilled at base). The famille rose and celadon ground vase with large chip to the underside of the rim, the vase extensively cracked and repaired. Small meiping vase with rim chip and small footrim chip. Stand with some wear.

TWO EARLY 20TH CENTURY INDONESIAN KAUER (SUMATRA, LAMPUNG) EMBROIDERED COTTON JACKETS. From striped burnt orange and indigo cotton, one woven with striped silver thread and embroidered with two vertical panels and applied with mirrored sequins, the other embroidered with gold thread with a cross within a lozenge and applied with sequins, the indigo back panel embroidered with geometric motifs in gilt thread, each stitched with white shells to the collar, the first with red and yellow floral printed cotton lining and the other with cream cotton lining, approx. 30cm long (2)Jackets of this type were made by Kauer women prior to marriage. Overall both jackets are extremely decorative and finely worked. The majority of the applied shells are present. The example with embroidered gilt thread to front - with two holes to the cotton fabric at the back of neckline, there are several areas where the gold thread embroidery is loose/lacking to the front and with losses to sequins, the stitching under the arm is slightly loose. The second with some wear to collar, some tearing to lining, minor staining, some threads pulled, including to the underarm area. Some typical and relatively minor wear overall.

(2) Provenance: Acquired in Hong Kong circa 1960s. Framed by Man Fong, Hong Kong. Both in good decorative order.

The first depicting a figure in a boat on a lake in mountainous landscape, one with a peony and butterfly and another with red flowers and a butterfly, each signed with black character and with red seal mark, the first 30.5cm x 19cm, the floral paintings approx. 18cm x 21cm (3) Overall in good decorative order, some minor creasing to the silk, which is pale brown in tone, very minor discolouration to landscape painting and minor wear overall.

A COLLECTION OF SEVEN CHINESE PORCELAIN BLUE AND WHITE BOWLS. The first probably Ming Dynasty, with honeycomb pattern and stylised flowerheads to the broad rim, the deep well and exterior with stylised foliate ornament, 15.7cm diam., a bowl with stylised scrolls, leaves and fruits within spiralling borders, of Tek-Sing cargo type, 16.5cm diam. and five bowls in sizes painted with lotus and flowerheads and scrolling foliage, each with seal marks to base16.8cm diam. (7) The deep bowl with honeycomb pattern with some overall glaze crazing and pitting. One of the bowls with flowerheads and foliage with very short hairline crack to rim, another with very small rim chip, some wear overall.

The first woven with bands of figures, cattle, horses, trees and honeycomb pattern in dark brown, red, blue and cream, 298cm x 134cm, the second in a similar palette, woven with bands of stylised standing figures, 241cm x 129cm (2) Some slight separating of the stitching between panels, minor loose/pulled threads and typical wear.

Comprising: a tall cylindrical example painted wtih a flower, rockwork and foliage, with a matched cover, 16cm high, a globular example painted with peony, with matched cover, 12cm high, another with matched cover painted with figures and a deer in pine and rockwork landscapes, 11cm high, a baluster teapot decorated with characters and flowers in river landscape, with lug handles, 11.3cm high, an oviform example with leaves and scrolls, with lug handles, 13.8cm high (5) The first of cylindrical form - chip to rim and two hairline crack to rim, starcrack to base, chip to tip of spout. Globular example with peony and match cover - restoration and chipping to spout, small chip to footrim. The example with figures and matched cover - some slight chipping at edge of glaze at footrim where glaze has been ground, some sanding to glaze. The baluster teapot lacking cover decorated with characters - some minor chipping to the spout, slight scratching to the glaze, minor footrim chipping, slight scratching and pitting to glaze. Oviform example with leaves with no cover - very minor glaze chipping to spout and rims.Some typical wear overall.

The bowl with two small rim chips and with a hairline crack and glaze crazing.

(2) The bird dish with a hairline crack to rim. Both with some very light wear to glaze and minor footrim chipping.

The first skirt in black silk embroidered with pheasants perched on rockwork above waves and flowers, with pink cotton waistband, a red skirt embroidered in silver thread with birds and flowers, with silvered tassels at hem, the black silk jacket embroidered in silver thread with birds perched on flowering branches, edged in scrollwork, with red silk toggles and pink lining (3) The black jacket with some tearing to pink lining and small area of tearing to red seam at back of hem, some small area of pulled threads, with a more noticeable patch of losses and pulling to one shoulder. The red skirt with wear, holes and tearing to white waistband and further holes, probably moth damage to red silk, including several tears, some separating at the seam.The black skirt with pink waistband with some minor loose threads, minor wear.

An important collection of documents and a notebook concerning Francis George Heath, Chief Detective Inspector for Salford County Borough Police, who was the first member of the Salford Police Force to have gone abroad for the purpose of bringing back a fugitive offender in 1904 from Cape Town. The offender was Thomas Walker, who was charged with stealing £38 and a further charge of intent to defraud a sum of £100. The notebook contains a description of events in Francis George Heath's own hand, warrants, news cuttings and letters from Whitehall. Also with the notebook is a souvenir book of Cape Town, four tribal souvenirs, two truncheons and a walking cane. Francis Heath (1860 - 1912) served for three and a half years and was known as the father of Salford Police.
