A pair of Colefax and Fowler "Honeysuckle" glazed cotton interlined curtains, together with two matching Roman blinds and two pairs of Colefax and Fowler "Caroline" glazed cotton interlined curtains with matching pelmets and assorted bed drapes CONDITION REPORTS The honeysuckle blind measures approximately 140 cms in width and 146 cms in length. Has various areas of staining and discolouration, brown marks etc throughout. the other blind has had the support sticks removed or never placed in the first place. Has striped discolouration to it. Measures 127 cms in depth x 160 cms in width. The honeysuckle curtains measure approximately 156 cms x 77 cms in width. Lining is faded and discoloured, has some other discolouration. One pair of Caroline curtains measure approximately 87 cms in width and 107 cms in length - have striped discolouration and discolouration to the top and are made in three sections but one has the border at the bottom and the other has the border at the top. The second pair measure approximately 193 cms in length x 119 cms in width. Have some discolouration to the linings and the outside as well and a couple of small areas of stainng. The long drapes are approximately 42 cms in width and measures approximately 230 cms in length and have a permanent gathering to the centre - see image for more details. Has some discolouration, staining in striped pattern.

A George III mahogany longcase clock by John Smith of Chester, with two-train striking movement and moon phase, the case with swans neck pediment, long trunk door and fluted quarter column corners. Height 240 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have the pendulum & weights. The clock appears to be ticking away and does strike when the hands are advanced to the hour. The clock case is in first class condition with no significant issues. The trunk door is only very slightly warped at the bottom left hand corner but in our opinion this is not significant. The remainder of the case is in very good condition and the bracket feet appear original. The backboards are original. The dial and moon phase are in good order and the clock could be used or resold in its current state without the need for any repair or restoration.
A pair of late 19th century Chinese glazed standing dogs. Height 18 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One dog has a very small 1 mm glaze chip to the rear front facing foot. Other than this the item is in first class condition. The second dog has been damaged. Two of the legs have been broken and re-glued into place. The repairs are not particularly good.
One volume "High Society", illustrated by Fish, 1920 First Edition. CONDITION REPORT: There are no library stamps or inscriptions. There is no colouring in. The hardback cover is nibbled around all edges. There are foxing marks to the front and back and smudges particularly to the white surface. One of the four corner guards is missing. The preface page is discoloured and slightly foxed. The invitation to reader page is similarly discoloured. The reminder of the book is generally very clean with only minor marks and small stains. The interior orange and cream boards are a little discoloured but in generally good order.
A 1920's bezel set gentleman's wristwatch, "The World's First Automatic" invented by John Harwood in 1923. CONDITION REPORT: The case is gold plated. It is in generally good condition with only very minor surface scratches and no problems with the plating. The bezel does rotate and sets the hands anti clockwise. The rotor mechanism appears to be operating as it should. The watch however only runs for between 5 & 10 seconds at a time. The case diameter is 28 mm. We are not sure what the circular hole above the numeral six on the face is.
Mary Beale (1633-1699), oil on canvas, portrait of a clergyman thought to be the young John Tillotson later Archbishop of Canterbury (1691-1694). 75 cm x 61 cm. Mary Beale became one of the most important portrait painters in the 17th century and has been described as the first professional English painter (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The painting appears to be in very good condition and in our opinion could be hung or re-sold in its present state without the need for any repair or restoration. We have had a UV light on the painting which does not reveal any significant restoration. It looks as if the painting has been cleaned at some point within the last 20 years. It does not appear to have been relined. The canvas is in good order and there are no holes. The frame is not original but in generally good presentable condition.
A George III full tester bed, with pleated canopy and complete with 5' divan interior. Width 60 ins, length 81 ins, height 82 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This bed has come to us from a local estate. There are 400 lots in this sale from the one property and the bed is in extremely good condition. The bed posts are quite clearly George III and probably pre 1800. The canopy is made from pine and is relatively modern. It has been manufactured to fit the bed and posts. It matches the lining of the drapes and pelmet. The rear posts are also Georgian. The backboard between the posts is modern. The headboard is modern. The side and front and back rails are period. The bed base sits on the side stretchers and there are no planks running from left to right. The piece is structurally very sound. The only sections of the bed that can really be seen are the bed posts. The upholstery is generally in very good condition as are all of the drapes. The top cream bed cover is beginning to perish on the silk side. We cannot see any woodworm. The carving on the bed posts is of good quality. The brass covers over the bolt holes are later. The mattress has a topper. When this is removed the mattress itself is in first class condition with no staining at all. The mattress is by Elf Beds “Natural Choice 1500” (equivalent to 1500 pocketed springs) the divan base beneath the bed is older but serviceable. Knowing where the bed is from I would have no hesitation in using the mattress. The height from the floor to the top of the mattress is 32.5 ins (83 cm)
Alfred Wainwright, three volumes, A Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells Book 2 "The Far Eastern Fells". CONDITION REPORT: Two of the three are First Editions, one is later but still an early edition.Both volumes have Book 3 In Preparation on the published book list. They have no impression numbers. The dust jackets are priced 12/6. Published by Henry Marshall 1957. They have grey Rexine covers with rounded corners and red lettering.
Audrey Johnson, oil on board, still life of flowers in landscape. 28 cm x 33 cm, framed, signed and dated 1984 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This painting is in first class condition with no issues. The frame is a simple white painted frame which has some minor blemishes but no serious condition issues.
An album of First World War photographs etc., Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Bayliffe, including telegrams regarding being wounded in action, Bayliffe was Commanding Officer of The Rangers 12th London Regiment, and The Royal Flying Corps in The War by Wing Adjutant (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There are only 5 photographs that are of military relevance. The majority of the items are actually postcards torn from a postcard book and relate to Ypres 1914-15.
A George V Border Regiment dress sword, to Captain H. Campbell 5th Batallion, with leather mounted scabbard, a C&R Brinsley First World War cased compass and First World War Verners Pattern compass in leather case stamped "C&R Brinsley 1916" inked "JG Monaghan 5th Border Regiment and a pair of Lemaire Paris cased field glasses marked "WH Whisson 1918" (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The scabbard is in generally good order with minor surface scuffs and blemishes particularly at the tip. The stitching appears to be generally good. The leather hanger is a little worn around the button hole and there are cracks across the top finish surface but no breaks. The hand guard is a little tarnished both front and back. The Shagreen grip is a little worn but all intact as are the wires. The blade is in generally good condition. It is not bent or warped and there is minimal rusting and discolouration. The compass is in good original condition. It appears to operate. The case is rubbed in places and there are stress marks and cracks to the circular back circumference. The case is a little scuffed but serviceable with no losses. It is linked to Monajhan. The binoculars case is again in generally good order with the usual scuff marks and wear to the belts and straps. The binoculars focus and seem to operate as they should. They are in generally good condition with only minor surface blemishes to the leather.
A set of seventeen 18 cm Baccarat wine glasses, each with etched mark to foot (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: 15 of the 17 glasses in this lot are in first class condition with no chips at all. Two of the glasses have small chips. One has an inside top lip nibble, the second has three inside edge top nibbles.
A 19th century satinwood rosewood and burr walnut rectangular casket. Width 21 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Extremely good colour and condition. The veneers are principally intact. There are two small losses to the top left rear corner and a further small loss to the top right rear corner. Other than this the condition is first class.
A silver brandy label, London 1992, 56 grams, a 1999 Elizabeth II £5 coin and a small silver box marked "Ross Ballater" and with Chester hallmark 1904, diameter 4 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The brandy label is in first class condition. It is heavy weighing 55 grams. It only requires a polish. The silver box and cover are both in extremely good condition with no issues. The stone is not loose. The lid fits the base snugly. There are no significant dents or scratches.
One volume "Nouvelles Heures et Prieres", 1898. CONDITION REPORT: The book is in generally extremely good condition and would seem to have had very little use. We can see no internal damage of any note. There are one or two very minor foxing marks but nothing significant. The first facing blank page is inked and dated 1898. Also the page entitled souvenirs d famille is also inked on the first two lines. There are no further inscriptions. The outer grey book cover is in generally good condition but it is a little stained and the silk interior is foxed and discoloured. The outer packaging also has minor scuffs and marks and slightly lifting material.
A pair of Jennens & Bettridge papier mache face screens, one marked "Chadder Cliffs" the other "Jennens & Bettridge". Height 39 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The Chadder Cliffs screen is in generally good condition with only minor issues. There is a small scratch just above the handle before the first figure on the bridge. There is minor old crazing to the paintwork generally. There are small nibbles to the paintwork on the left hand side and possible minor areas of overpainting on the extremities. These are minimal. The back of the piece is crazed in places. The joins between the handles and the screens are solid. The handles on both have age but whether they are original or not we cannot tell. The second screen is in similar condition to the first. There is a small crack and scratch to the right hand side of the handle which should be visible on our images. There are other light scratches also. There is some crazing to both front and back but no significant issues. The handle of this has a very small amount of movement but not in any significant manor.
A pair of Victorian silver mounted horn beakers, London 1874. Height 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: These are both in exceptionally good condition. The colour is superb. There are no hairline cracks, chips or scuffs to the horn. The silver rims are in first class condition also. There is no makers name visible.
Beatrix Potter "The Story of Miss Moppett", 1906 First Edition, wallet form. Inside cover - all lettered in white within single broad white rule border which is broken at the bottom for the words "London & New York" (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: None of the interior pages have been written on. As you will see from our image the tab that inserts into the slot is actually missing. The book is not musty. The very last page is missing the right hand green margin and is a little ragged. There are losses and small tears to the spine on both the inside and outside. The image to the cover is 60% missing.
