CARDIFF RUGBY LEAGUE 1951 Cardiff home programme v Widnes, 22/8/51, at Penarth Road Stadium, first home game for Cardiff Rugby League Club in their only season in the Rugby League. A crowd of 2,500 saw Cardiff lose the game 27-10 and in this season Cardiff finished 30th of the 31 Clubs with a record of 5 wins and 31 defeats. As a result they were wound up at the end of the season. Previously Cardiff had been members of the Welsh Rugby League which was formed in 1949.Other founder members of the Welsh Rugby League were Amman Valley, Llanelli, Aberavon, Bridgend, Ystradgynlais, Neath and Pontarddulais. Cardiff were champions in 49/50, and Llanelli in 50/51 after which Cardiff were elected to the Rugby Football League. The Welsh Rugby League also folded at the end of the 51-2 season as Union was too strong for League to take a foothold and it was 1981 before Cardiff Blue Dragons were formed to play at Ninian Park. This programme v Widnes is a four page issue with neat score, scorers, attendance, very slight fold. Good

All have original covers, some early editions have spine repairs, marks etc, but overall the condition is good and the later editions are very good. AUTOGRAPH ALBUM Late 50s , early 60s autograph album, cricket autographs plus a variety of other celebrities. Includes Norfolk CCC pencil signatures laid down including Edrich, Blofeld and Terry Allcock who also played for Norwich City. The Suffolk CCC signatures include C.Perkins who recently celebrated his 100th birthday and is believed to be the oldest living English first class cricketer having played for Northants. Other signatures include Peter May, Giles (Cartoonist), Dai Rees, Michael Holliday, Ben Warriss, Wilfred Pickles, Godfrey Evans, J.B.Hobbs. Doug Insole, Don Wilson and Colin Cowdrey. TOTTENHAM A framed, glazed Tottenham black and white real photograph team group together with the Division 1 trophy which Spurs won in 1950-51 for the first time. The players have all autographed the photograph although the signatures with the exception of Len Duquemin have faded. However the majority are still legible including Ron Burgess and Alf Ramsey. Seventeen players, manager and Chairman (probable) shown on the photograph together with the trophy. The complete framed, glazed item measures approx 34cm x 28cm (approx 13"x10") Black frame. Good

1964 INTER CITIES FAIRS CUP FINAL Real Zaragoza v Valencia played on 25 June 1964 as a single match for the first time on neutral ground at the Nou Camp in Barcelona. Issue of Spanish football paper "Marca" dated 25 June 1964, released on the day of the match, includes full team line-ups, pictures and match reports. There was no programme at the match and Barcelona did not produce any match details in their club revistas. Good

MAN UTD Selection of more interesting United programmes, home v Benfica 62/3 (with token), 12 x 74/5 homes (Division 2 season), includes first v Millwall and last v Blackpool ( no tokens cut-out and no team changes or scores), Away programmes at Derby, 26/12/72 and 3/9/77 both are newspaper issues ( no writing) and finally a copy of the 1970 Cup Final replay played at Old Trafford, Chelsea v Leeds ( team changes etc and small hole to back cover). YOUTH CUP FINAL Manchester United home programme v Wolves, 4/5/53, the first Leg of the first Youth Cup Final, four page issue, neat pencil score, scorers. United won 7-1. In reaching the Final scored 41 goals, conceding 2 and included a 23-0 victory against Nantwich in the second round. Wolves reached the Final without conceding a goal, scoring 29, so the 7-1 defeat came as rather a shock. The second leg was a 2-2 draw and United won the first five Finals in the competition. Minor fold, slight ageing. Fair
