Stephen Kenny You Complete Me, 2020 Letterpress on paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) My paintings most often focus on the human figure paired with elements found in nature. These surreal, symbolic juxtapositions are intended to work on at least two levels. The first alludes to the fact that we are an integral part of the natural world and subject to its laws. This seems like an obvious statement until we step back and objectively assess our symbiotic relationship with each other and the Earth. Depending on your perspective, these relationships fall somewhere on the scale between harmonious and dysfunctional. The second turns the lens around to look inward upon the stewardship of our own emotional, intellectual and psychological landscapes. The same pictorial subject matter allows me to make references to our individual journeys of self-exploration and discovery. Again, depending on who is holding the compass, we are either lost or on the right path. At the very least, I desire to create images of beauty and mystery that allow the viewer to find their own personal significance in them.
Kev Munday Duck Tangle, 2020 Paint pen on paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) Kev Munday creates colourful utopian worlds and invites the viewer to spend some time living in them. Inspired by people-watching and the everyday, Kev exaggerates and celebrates the ordinary and aims for his art to appeal to all ages.Using bold lines and block colours, the vibrancy of Munday's style creates an enthralling visual experience. his iconic crowd paintings depict a sea of unique individuals which pays tribute to the beauty found in diversity. each individual portrait is equally valued, taken altogether, the effect is a striking vision of community which is more than the sum of its individual parts.Starting his artistic career at the age of 16, Kev's first creative endeavours came in the form of street art; painting walls and leaving stickers, paste-ups and other markings on street furniture. It wasn't until a few years later that a friend and fellow artist suggested he transfer his artwork onto canvas and he found an instant attraction to the surface. Building upon the style he had been developing in his street work, Kev continued to work with spray paint and markers, using the vivid colours and bold lines that are still present in his work to date. Now aged 33, Kev has created artwork for brands including Walt Disney, IKEA, Artfinder and Uni-Ball and his art is collected and exhibited worldwide. Having recently been named by the Telegraph as a 'British artist to invest in right now' and the best-selling British artist of the year on Artfinder, Munday's work can be found transcending the gallery walls onto a plethora of surfaces, including everything from police cars to pianos, billboards to grandfather clocks. Still relishing the opportunity to work in the public domain, Kev likes to see everything as a canvas and can be regularly found producing his artwork live at a variety of events.
