Robin Alexander Elliott (b.1936), impasto oil on canvas, Spanish landscape, ‘The Road to Salamanca’, signed, inscribed verso, 24 x 29cm Born in London in 1936, Robin Alexander Elliott trained at Sidcup School of Art between 1951 and 1956, training under Frank Auerbach and Jack Smith, amongst others. After receiving his Diploma, Robin did National Service at Catterick Camp in Yorkshire. There he was inspired by the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales and produced many paintings of the area during his time in the army.Once he had completed his service Robin worked as a freelance illustrator before landing his first solo exhibition at the Hammond Lloyd Gallery, London. Nature and the British landscape continued to serve as key sources of inspiration for his work, which was also informed by travels in Europe and America, and five years spent living in the hills of Cerro e Alcaria, Portugal Canvas in good, clean condition without flakes.  Frame good; frame 34x39cm.

Boer War, WW1 veteran Lt Col D A Kinloch signed Invite card to the Kings visit to Grenadier Guards 1902 Set with Vintage postcard of the Kins and copy Buckingham Palace picture on A4 Page with corner mounts so can easily be removed if required. Kinloch was a distinguished leader in the Anglo-Boer War who saw action at many of the premier battlefields. At the outbreak of the First World War (1914-1918) Kinloch was appointed to the 70th Brigade of the 23rd Division of Kitchener's New Armies. He took his brigade to France, but relinquished command in September 1915, and was Mentioned in Despatches. In 1917, he was gazetted honorary brigadier-general. Good condition Est.

1965 French Croix De Guerre official 50th ann FDC with Medal stamp and Paris postmark. Set with picture of medal on descriptive A4 page with corner mounts, easily removed if needed. The Croix de Guerre a military decoration of France. It was first created in 1915 and consists of a square-cross medal on two crossed swords, hanging from a ribbon with various degree pins. The decoration was first awarded during World War I, again in World War II, and in other conflicts; the Croix de guerre des theatres d'opérations extérieures (cross of war for external theatres of operations) was established in 1921 for these. The Croix de Guerre was also commonly bestowed on foreign military forces allied to France. The Croix de Guerre may be awarded either as an individual award or as a unit award to those soldiers who distinguish themselves by acts of heroism involving combat with the enemy. The medal is awarded to those who have been mentioned in dispatches, meaning a heroic deed or deeds were performed meriting a citation from an individual's headquarters unit. The unit award of the Croix de Guerre with palm was issued to military units whose members performed heroic deeds in combat and were subsequently recognized by headquarters. Good condition Est.
