This is a very rare letter from St Georges FC telling A.Bostock that he is selected to play. Letter is from 1892 which was the last year before the club was disbanded. They were among the founding members of the Combination in 1888, finishing 10th out of 12, and provided the Combination with its president, Mr. H. Mitchell. The Combination disbanded after a season. They applied to become members of the Football League at the end of its first season but failed to gain membership; they received the most votes of the non-elected clubs, two behind Notts County (Sunderland were the winners who were elected membership). In 1889 they were founder members of the Football Alliance, also reaching the quarter finals of the FA Cup. The Alliance combined with the Football League in 1892 with Birmingham St. George's becoming the only member not to be accepted. Condition : Split accross folds & some marks

PRETTY THINGS - SF SORROW LP (UK ORIGINAL STEREO SCX 6306). Mega clean copy of the groundbreaking 1968 LP, this the 1st UK pressing on Columbia (black/blue label SCX 6306). Side 1 is in superb Ex+ condition showing one or two extremely faint markings under an intense light source. Side 2 is in very clean Ex condition with just a couple of very small light and minor surface markings. Matrix/stampers: YAX 3738-1 1 A & YAX 3739-1 1 A. It is noted that this is the very first pressing with the 'A' stampers (even most original copies have 'G' stampers). The fully laminated gatefold sleeve is in superlative Ex+ condition showing some very minor ringwear on the reverse, but that's it! "From number three there came a cry, S.F. Sorrow Is Born."
SEX PISTOLS - NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS - ORIGINAL UK 'SPOTS 001' LP - SEALED. The crème de la crème for any Pistols collector, a still sealed original UK green stickered 'SPOTS 001' pressing of the seminal 1977 album. This is the very first UK pressing which contains the LP, poster, bonus 7" of Submission and has the green sticker noting 'UK PRESSING includes one sided single & Pistols poster SPOTS 001' on the outer shrink. The shrink wrap is in absolutely stunning order with virtually no splits, there is an extremely small 'peel' to roughly 1cm of the shrink on the reverse. There is (presumably the original) price sticker from 'Amerc Records & Tapes' placed on top of the shrink on the top right corner (front). Stunning.
JOY DIVISION - AN IDEAL FOR LIVING (PSS 139 UK ORIGINAL). An outragously clean original UK copy (Enigma PSS 139) of Joy Division's elusive debut release, An Ideal For Living. This is the first pressing with serated rim and matrix/runout PSS 139 EP A1 EG & PSS 139 EP B1 EG. The record is in sublime Ex+ condition with one or two extremely light, faint and extremely wispy markings noted under an intense light source on side 2. Very clean labels with a couple of rather light spindle markings - it is obvious that this copy has been played sparingly. The original four panel sleeve is in stunning Ex+ condition. There is very little wear throughout with none of the usual creasing on the 'joining' edges. There is some slight disclouration on the top edge. A final upgrade copy of the EP that 'wasn't a concept but an enigma'.
VARIOUS - THE FIRST LAME BUNNY ALBUM (SPACEWARD STUDIOS LP EDEN LP 53). The wonderful 1973 compilation LP from the famous Cambridge studio. The record is in brilliant Ex+ condition with only a couple of extremely fine, minute and very wispy markings noted under an extreme light source. The fragile thin gatefold sleeve is in clean Ex condition with a litle 'shelfwear' where the 'spine' would usually be (the sleeve is of a home made looking design and effectively resembles a proof sleeve, so there isn't really a spine as such).
RUDI/VICTIM - BIG TIME/STRANGE THING BY NIGHT. Delightful bundle of the first 2 releases on the iconic Good Vibrations records. Titles are Rudi - Big Time (GOT 1 '3rd' purple lettering sleeve - Ex+ top condition record with few markings, four pronged centre/VG+ clean fold out sleeve with a couple of light creases on the front) and Victim - Strange Thing By Night (GOT 2 original white sleeve design, four pronged centre - Ex+ great condition record again with few markings/VG+ neat fold out sleeve with some light creasing to the edges).

George III’s Recovery from Ill Health: a good and rare pearlware vase the baluster shaped body of acanthus leaf form on a waisted foot and rectangular base with re-entrant corners moulded with a half -length profile of the King and on the reverse a profile of King Lear depicted as Uranus with foliage in his hair, decorated in underglaze blue, brown, green and black, circa 1789, 219mm high Illustrated (commemorative commemorate) *On 15th March 1789 a service of thanksgiving was held at St Paul’s Cathedral for King’s recovery for which a number of commemoratives were produced. Most unusually this piece alludes to the King’s madness with the depiction of Shakespeare’s King Lear (who similarly went mad when disposing of his kingdom to two of his three daughters). Most likely and in the absence of any true likeness, Lear is depicted as the mythological Greek God Uranus (the planet having been discovered in 1781 by the astronomer William Hershell (for which he was appointed Court Astronomer by George III). David Garrick had played Lear (depicted with foliage on his head) in his 1756 production. Following the King’s first bout of madness there were no further meaningful productions of the play. Indeed between 1810 and 1820, when the King again lapsed into periods of insanity, the authorities banned any production of the play.

Russian Revolution: a Russian porcelain plate after the originals stylistically painted in the propaganda style with a portrait of Lenin, the Russian Eagle obscured by the Red Star and ration coupons, the reverse marked and inscribed Adomovich, 238mm and another similar decorated with a revolutionary (2) Illustrated (commemorative commemorate) *See an article in the Apollo magazine of April 2017 for an illustration of the first of the two plates in this lot.
