Rare 1906 South Africa v MCC presentation match cricket ball - from the 1st Test match played in Johannesburg awarded to W.S Lees (MCC) for taking 5 wickets for 34 in the first innings on his test debut for England - mounted with silver plated engraved shield “5 wkts for 34 – W Lees – MCC v South Africa Johannesburg – 2, 3 & 4 Jan 1906”. Note: The match was noted for several reasons – notably it was South Africa FIRST Test victory in their twelfth match against MCC – Noarse who shared the decisive last wicket stand made the highest score for South Africa (93) on his debut against England and at that time it was highest partnership for a 10th wicket stand. Besides Lees taking 5 wickets in the opening innings he followed it up with another 3 wickets in the 2nd innings and a further 16 wickets in the remaining 4 test match series

It also saw the test debut of Don Bradman who scored 123 in the final test but notably it was the series that saw Walter Hammond, playing his maiden Ashes series, who with a run of scores of 251 at Sydney, 200 at Melbourne, and 119 not out and 177 at Adelaide, scored a then-record series aggregate of 905 runs at an average of 113.12; the record has only been surpassed once, by Donald Bradman in the 1930 Ashes

1937 West Coast-Buller v South Africa Rugby Programme: Played at Rugby Park Greymouth 25th August 1937 signed to front by Ron R King. King was still a student at Hokitika District High School when first selected to represent West Coast in 1928, as a wing three quarter. His career did not however take off until he switched to the forwards in 1932, becoming a regular member of the Coast side which he represented until his retirement in 1945
Extremely rare 1888 First unofficial British Lions Rugby Tour by English, Welsh and Scottish players to New Zealand and Australia. 1888 Canterbury v England (British Lions) Rugby Programme: Played at Lancaster Park Christchurch on 5th & 9th May 1888 single folded card - some minor marks to the back page otherwise (G) Though a private venture, this first “football” tour down under is seen as the first “Lions” team in History, and the opening of a long and rich history of international tours between the two hemispheres. Note: 1888 is the earliest ever rugby tour by British players when a 21-man squad visited Australia and New Zealand. The squad drew players from England, Scotland and Wales, though English players predominated. The team was captained by England international Robert Seddon while the other capped players in the team were England and Salford Tom Kent, England and Blackheath Andrew E.Stoddart, Cambridge and Wales W.H. “Willie” Thomas.
1965-66 Football league Division 4 Championship Medal: For Fred Potter Doncaster Rovers Fred Potter (born 29 November 1940) is a retired English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was born in Cradley Heath and played for his local side before signing for Aston Villa in July 1959. Originally an inside forward, he made his debut on Boxing Day 1959 and made three appearances in total in the First Division. Looking for first team football he signed for Doncaster Rovers in July 1962 making 124 league appearances.In 1966 he moved down into non-league football with Burton Albion, winning the Player of the Year award for the 1969-70 Hereford United, signed Potter in September 1970. Potter made 33 league appearances in 1970-71, with a further 27 in various cup competitions. Potter was the goalkeeper in Hereford’s FA Cup run of 1971-72, notably defeating Newcastle United in the Third Round. Potter’s 38 clean sheets that season saw him named Player of the Year. Glasgow FA Cup Winners 9ct Gold Medal: William Black Born: 16 May 1878 Birthplace: Flemington, Scotland Signed: 21 April 1904, Left: 29 May 1905 (to Everton) Position: Half-Back Debut: Port Glasgow Athletic 1-4 Celtic, League, 27 Aug 1904. Defender Willie Black stayed just one season with Celtic after signing for the Boys from Queens Park in 1904. Wilie was brought in as cover for Jim Young & Jimmy Hay. He often deputised for one of the three in the famous half-back line of Young, Loney & Hay. The Flemington-born player made his debut on August 27 in a 4-1 league victory over Port Glasgow Athletic at Parkhead but was very much a back up player making only 11 appearances during the rest of the season. However we won the league to set up the first of a 6-in-a-row, and he played his part. Black was carried off crippled in a match v Partick Thistle in a wild match just before Xmas 1904. Sunny Jim Young went looking for culprit James Sommen (guilty Partick player), but was sent off to the pavilion shortly after. Black moved south to Everton in 1905, but another leg injury there seriously threatened his career at Everton.
