Switzerland Travelling and Mobile Post Offices Postal history of the travelling post offices written-up on pages in 6 filing boxes plus a stockbook, with an interesting range of 19th century on the Type I TPO cancels, incl. January 1859 sub-type 1 'Bahnpost Zurich-Aarau' cancel tying imperf Helvetia on cover - an early example, 1860 sub-type 2 St.Gallen-Zurich on stampless cover - another early example of its type, followed by 'Nordpostbahn' cds 1860 on stampless cover and 1866 on official cover, 'Ambulant Circulaire' cds examples incl. on cover of 1866 with 50cts+10cts sitting Helvetia combo and Lake Lucerne steamer cancel (with 1992 Renggli certificate), with twenty further exemplary covers/cards to the 1870s and through to sub-type 6. Subsequent folders in this first box-file are for the 'Ambulant' types II and III. Switzerland Pro Patria Collection of the Pro Patria issues in mint never hinged sets/blocks, used blocks, covers and FDCs, written-up in 16 albums, again the best material in a stockbook for safekeeping, highlights including 1938 first issue block of four FDC, complete sheets of all issues from 1938 to 1944, 1940 souvenir sheet mint, 20+5cts light red printing (Z.5c) on cover with solder stamp, 1941 20+10cts good shade used corner block of four (Z.14c, cat. SFr.450), 1942 set on FDC and the souvenir sheet MNH, used and two on cover (total cat. SFr.1,100), mint or first day cancelled sets on PTT presentation sheets/cards from 1942 onwards, 1948 FDC (3 incl. Italian pmk), 1949 FDC (2), 1950 (3, incl. French), 1951 FDC and set of FDCs with blocks of four, FDC blocks sets also for 1955, 1956 and so on, through to 2006. Again very high quality throughout. Germany Organised collection of about 3000+ stamps, majority used, in two stockbooks from first Empire issues through to Allied/Soviet Occupations, with excellent range of souvenir sheets. Highlights (used unless otherwise stated) including a few neatly postmarked better embossed eagles: SG.9 x2, SG.16 and SG.17a signed, lots of other eagles in mixed condition to 1872 18kr bistre cds (SG.28, small thins), Germania 5mk types mint, inflation 50 billion marks proofed Infla Berlin, IPOSTA m/s, Zeppelins (10) incl. 1933 Chicago set, two 1933 Nothilfe miniature sheets - one about 2mm short on one edge, both with postmarks that look somewhat too neat so expertization required. Then the 1935 Ostropa sheet clean unused (acidic gum removed as usual) and lots more m/ss of the Third Reich, interesting range of end-of-war Hitler head obliterator local handstamps philatelic/cto, Danzig, Memel, Saar, Zara, Bezirk handstamps, Allied m/ss and without 'pf', Thuringen Christmas anti-fascism m/s on special printed card tied by Erfurt 24/23/45 postmarks (the sheet showing correct characteristic dot in 'C' of 'Reichsmark' - Michel Type I), as well as red 'Berlin' on 2mk dove signed Schlegel, 1949 'currency' miniature sheet (postmarks look good), 1949 Goethe m/s, 1949 Hanover Export Fair m/s, etc, etc. Some scarce items here with enormous catalogue, a few that each would be worth our estimate alone if proving genuine.
British Commonwealth Well-presented collection in 15 loose-leaf albums, centred around quality highly complete KGVI parallel mint and used, some MNH, with some good earlier material, as well as the first QEII sets, with a few countries extending further, the Hong Kong for example filling one and a half volumes to 1997. Highlights include Aden 1937 dhow set mint to 5r and complete used, Australia 1932-35 'roos complete to £2 used and 5/- Harbour Bridge mint, Bahrain 1938-41 set used and 14 mint values incl. 4a and 25r, Basutoland 1933 first issue complete mint and used, Hong Kong KGVI defins to $10 both types (the green and violet toned as usual) along with 1948 Silver Wedding $10 mint and used, then India 1937-40 mint and used to 25r, Kuwait set to 25r mint and used, excellent Morocco Agencies with top value seahorse varieties, Newfoundland 1933 airmail set mint and used, etc, etc. Occasional slight sticking of the mint from sloppy hingeing, but this is minimal. Intact as received aside from the British Levant (see Lot 65). Stated to catalogue £56,500 in 2009 which equates to £80,000+ in 2023 SG.

Includes the forerunners with the set of three languages MNH incl. scarce 'un anno di sole' (cat. SFr.1,200) as well as the first booklet (10rp x15, purple cover), then highlights incl. 1913 #1 used block (cat. SFr.550), scarce 1915 5cts Apfenzeller Knabe booklet pane immaculate MNH, 1916 3cts on cover, 1918 set on cover, 1919 set in blocks of four on separate covers (cat. SFr840 for off-cover blocks), likewise blocks on cover sets for 1926 to1929 complete, 1930 set on FDCs (cat. SFr.800), 1939 set FDC, 1941 souvenir sheet used and on cover (cat. SFr.1,150), 1953 butterfly and beetle tête-bêche sheet MNH (cat. Generally high quality has been acquired and lots of varieties noted. Highlights in the mint album include first kangaroos to 1/-, 1915-27 'roos with 2/-, 1923-24 'roos set to 10/-, over 100 KGV heads with first series 4d shades, three different 1/4d turquoise issues, then a lovely 5/- Sydney Harbour Bridge MNH top margin example, 3d blue Kookaburra sheetlet of four, 'Robes' set with all the 3d blue types and the high value types latter MNH, various multiples incl. 1949 ½d orange full panes of 80 one showing sky retouch, another with 'line to ear', continuing in the same vein in early QEII period. Better items in the second volume and other loose pages, mainly used, include kangaroos to 5/-, Harbour Bridge 5/- superb, 1949/50 Arms high values specimen set, covers incl. New South Wales 1892 registered combination to England, First Flights, FDCs from 1930s and 1940s on Melbourne Music Conservatory stationery registered correspondence to India, useful range of booklets from 1950s onwards, etc, along with literature.
Hong Kong etc. A family's vintage accumulation in a wine box, the main interest Hong Kong (where an ancestor was a maritime official during WWII) with nice range of FDCs including the 1948 Silver Wedding $10 registered, inside of which is the $10 pristine MNH. Also the first QEII defin set to $10 FDC, etc. Lots of KGVI defins here used to $10 and many mint, plus old glassine envelopes incl. North Borneo 1947 ovpt set MNH x2, schoolboy albums, etc. Finds to be made, please investigate closely.

Absolute minimum cat. for the panes alone is £1,690.

Includes 1926 Hesse arms nothilfe issue top value (SG.416?/a?), 1927 Hindenburg top two values (SG.419/420), 1930 Nothilfe buildings/monuments (SG.465/468 - all values FDC except 15pf+5pf), 1930 IPOSTA m/s on registered cover from the exhibition with 2nd day pmks, margins slightly cut-down at top and bottom to fit cover, then 1931 Nothilfe buildings (SG.472/475), 1932 Nothilfe castles (SG.485/489), 1933 Wagner set (SG.513/521 - all values FDC except 12pf+3pf), etc. Many have light pen notations of catalogue numbers and values from several decades ago. Great Britain Specialised collection of imperf and perf 1d reds written-up in two albums, the first album with 41 imperf plates from 1b to 45 (Alphabet 1) all four-margins including 7 from the plates of the penny black. The second album is for the four-corner-letters plates (562 stamps) to plate 224 in generally decent quality including occasional mint/unused, multiples, quite a few cds examples some superb. Great Britain Pre-decimal mint collection from KGVI onwards in two Lighthouse hingeless albums, comprehensively assembled, with almost all the better issues in pristine MNH condition incl. 1938-40 wmks sideways and inverted, 1939-48 high values, excellent Wildings with no empty spaces and with 1958-65 inverted watermarks set x2 and a third example of the key 2d brown, similarly all the Castles high values with Waterlow, first De La Rue, second De La Rue two sets (one corner margins), again all MNH, continuing apparently complete for the specialised Lighthouse pages on Machins, regionals and postage dues 1937 onwards complete MNH.

Star Wars - a rare early c1978 'first issue' action figure playset 'TIE Fighter.' Rarer white version. Unboxed, but 100% complete with original cockpit chair, top flaps, and both wings. At some point it appears to have been attempted to be painted grey / black, but much of this has been removed over time. Wings hold very firmly.

A mixed lot containing an original 'Indictment' which was presented to the International Military Tribunal sitting in Berlin on 18th October 1945 by the Attorney-General to Parliment, which was held in Nuremberg, Germany prior to the Nuremberg Trials. This was published by London His Majesty's Stationery Office.This tribunal indicted 24 Nazi leaders on charges of war crimes, crimes against peace, crimes against humanity, and conspiracy to commit these crimes. The four chief prosecutors of the IMT, Robert H Jackson of the United States, Sir Hartley Shawcross of Great Britain, Francois de Menthon of France, and Roman A Rudenko of the Soviet Union, filed the indictment.The IMT was the first time that international tribunals were used to bring national leaders to justice after a war. The Tribunal could impose death or other punishments on a convicted defendant, and could also deprive them of stolen property. The cases of Hans Fritzsche and Julius Streicher were the first time an international court prosecuted propagandists for their role in murderous crimes. This lot also includes an original programme from the City Hall in Durban, South Africa on Sunday 7th September 1941, titled "Garrison Theatre Non-Stop Variety for the Visiting Troops". This also includes a Kings Royal Rifle Corps Statue card issued after the Great War (WW1). The card is remembering No. 5/4955 Rifleman Robert Gardiner.
A signed black and white photograph of Major Theodor Rumpel, shown under 'House Arrest' awaiting Court Martial as Commandant of Dulag Luft as a result of the first 'Great Escape' led by Buckley (Big X) and Roger Bushell (Little X) during WW2. Major Theodor Rumpel was saved from the Gestapo by his friend Hermann Wilhelm Göring (or Goering) and made Kommandant of a flying school, and was later promoted to Colonel and Rumpel ended up surviving the war.

A collection of three letters written by Sergeant George Franklin Booth (561012) of 107 Squadron, who flew the Blenheim IV N6240, to his Mother Mrs B. A. Booth from various locations including potentially one of the first letters home from a British airman during WW2 informing her that he is safe and sound in early September 1939 (exact date unknown).The second letter is written from the same location as the first in Wesermunde, Lehe (Bremerhaven), while the third letter is written from the transit camp Dulag Luft, which was for R.A.F. personnel situated in Oberursel (28th December 1940). A WW2 69th Infantry Division shoulder patch presented to Michael Booker by P.F.C. Alan H. Murphey, one of the four Americans who were the first to enter and liberate Colditz Castle (Oflag IVc) on 16th April 1945.Accompanying this patch is a photograph capturing the moment of liberation, featuring all four P.F.C.s on the terrace of Colditz Castle. The individuals in the photograph, from left to right, are P.F.C. Burrows, P.F.C. Murphey, P.F.C. Giegnas, and P.F.C. Miller, all of whom were awarded the Silver Star for their bravery in liberating Schloss Colditz Oflag IVc.Notably, P.F.C. Alan H. Murphey received the formal surrender from German Hauptmann Reinhold Eggers in the castle's courtyard, marking a significant moment in history. This lot also includes a picture of P.F.C. Alan H. She was captured on 6 April 1943 by spy-hunter Hugo Bleicher and spent the remainder of the war imprisoned in Ravensbrück Concentration Camp.She was the first woman to be awarded the George Cross by the UK and was awarded the Légion d'honneur by France.
