Important Moorcroft Collector`s Item. A one-off special edition vase painted by Paul Martin, presenter of BBC Flog It!, with the proceeds of sale going to Children in Need. This lot is a special commission and will feature a `Pudsey` variant of the `Cows` pattern with the use of carefully selected alternative colour palettes. It will remain a truly unique piece of Moorcroft to enhance any collection. The lot will be sold with a series of accompanying photographs of Paul decorating the piece, autograph and signature photograph of Paul and the vase designer. The vase was decorated on Tuesday 27th October, 2009. The finished product will be kept under wraps until the view day of the auction. * Ralph Agas/J Maitland, publisher c.1738- "A View of London about the Year 1560"; Published in London, 1738. hand-coloured engraving, 32x48cm: together with three other 19/20th century prints and reproductions, (4) Note: Published as the frontpiece to Maitland`s History of London, engraved bird`s-eye view / plan of Elizabethan London as seen around 1560. The work represents a reduced version of one of the first plans of London, attributed to Ralph Agas, with the city`s major edifices and sites depicted, including The Tower, St. Paul`s, London Bridge and interestingly the Bull and Bear Baiting Rings, Covent Garden and others. The River Thames is filled with various sailing ships and barges. An 85 point legend identifies important points of interest. Enhanced by two armorials (the royal and city crests) and a ribbon style cartouche.
