Doctor Who - Jon Pertwee (1919-1996 - Third Doctor) - two 6x4" black and white promotional postcards, each with a partially handwritten / partially printed autograph. The first photograph has been inscribed 'To Fiona, Love Doctor Who 3' and the other showing Worzel Gummidge 'To Fiona, love Worzel '. The signatures themselves are printed, but the dedications in Pertwee's hand.

The Ocean Telegraph to India: a Narrative and a Diary, first edition, chromolithographed frontispiece and 8 charts, plates and plans (1 folding), name erased from front pastedown causing surface tearing, original pictorial cloth, light rubbing and the odd mark but an attractive copy generally, 1870; and 3 others, undersea cable-laying, 8vo (4)⁂ The first a rare and detailed account of the laying of the Red Sea Line between Suez and Bombay.
Iran.- Bombay Printing.- The Dastur Hoshang Memorial Volume: Being Papers on Iranian Subjects by various scholars, first edition, half-title, photographic frontispiece, title with ink library stamps, initial 5ff. with small amounts of worming affecting text and photograph but with no major loss, light foxing throughout, endpapers renewed, modern rexine, spine ends lightly bumped, 4to, Bombay, Fort Printing Press, 1918.⁂ Dr Hoshang Jamasp Dastur (1833-1908) was an eminent scholar of Oriental languages and Zoroastrian scriptures, originally from Gujarat State (India). From a family of reknowned Parsi priests, he became an employee of the Colonial Service, assisting the British government during the 1857 Indian Mutiny, or the First War of Independence. His scholarship received recognition from the British government and his works were published with patronage from the Government of Bombay. This volume contains over sixty papers from multiple scholars on numerous topics relating to Persia, its history, culture, literature, the Zoroastrian religion and Persians abroad.
Iraq.- Bombay printing.- Jones (Commander James Felix) Memoir on the Province of Baghdad in Selections from the Records of the Bombay Government No.XLIII-New Series, comprising also Notes on the Topography of Nineveh, first edition, 26 folding maps and plates only (of 30; 2 with tears; lacking 3 maps originally loose in pocket, and 1 bound in), most with contemporary hand-colouring, title defective at inner and lower margin with some worming and laid down on paper, first 3 ff. trimmed at inner margin with paper repair, worm and other small holes with tape repairs, final 3 ff. with similar tape and paper repairs, section title (after p.213) with tear in centre but no text loss, folding appendix with several small holes and chips and laid down on paper, uniform browning throughout, some foxing (including to plates), some light damp-staining to lower margin, some very small worm holes, affecting text in places but with no major loss, endpapers renewed (ink ownership inscription to front), modern rexine, 8vo, Bombay, Bombay Education Society Press, 1857.

Gosse and J. Neaulme, 1729.⁂ With the rare second appendix to vol. 2, containing the account of an English vessel's voyage to Japan in 1673, translated here into French (final15pp. before index).
Japan.- Taiwan.- Mitchell (Charles Archibald) Camphor in Japan and in Formosa, first edition, printed on crepe paper, some light creasing, folding map of Taiwan at rear, floral endpapers, original roan-backed boards, spine chipped at head, extremities rubbed, 8vo, Printed at the Chiswick Press for Private Circulation, 1900.⁂ A rare work discussing the cultivation of camphor that goes into great detail about life in Taiwan, especially among the Japanese ex-pat communities.

Middle East.- Bell (Gertrude) Amurath to Amurath, first edition, half-title, numerous photographic plates and illustrations, folding colour map at end, light browning to endpapers, armorial bookplate of Norman Lamont to front pastedown, original pictorial cloth, uncut, slight bumping and light rubbing to spine tips and corners, but a sharp and excellent copy overall, 8vo, 1911.⁂ Bell's account of her first visit to modern-day Iraq, the second edition was not printed until 1924.

Disguised as a Muslim pilgrim, Burton was one of the first westerners to visit Mecca and other holy Islamic sites.
