A pair of Sevres-style pot-pourri vases and covers late 19th century, the baluster bodies painted with titled battle scenes, Bataille De Ravennes - 1512 and Bataille De Denain, within tooled gilt frames flanked by gilt scrollwork against a cobalt-blue ground, to each reverse an untitled landscape view, above a band of moulded vertical leaves picked out in gilding flanked by scroll handles beneath pierced necks, raised on canted corner square bases, the pierced domed covers with acanthus finials pseudo blue-painted Sevres marks 49.5cm., 19Iin. small repair to one handle (4) The first vase depicts the death of Gaston de Foix at the Battle of Ravenna on 11th April 1512, he was the French pretender to the Navarra throne. The Battle of Denain was fought on July 24th 1712 and resulted in a French victory under General Villars against Austrian and Dutch forces under Prince Eugene. ½

An oblong tray with two ebonised handles, an open gallery with a beaded rim and pierced and engraved with ribbon bows, oval reserves and floral swags and pendants, the base engraved with a mermaid crest and motto over a monogram 'CM' within a foliate scroll and strapwork surround, 69cm overall (27 in) The monogram, crest and motto for Glass of Sauchie in Scotland. The crest was registered in the first big Scottish armorial stock-take in 1677
