A Copeland Parian figure of Paul and Virigina mid 19th century, modelled by C. Cumberworth, both seated on a rocky stump with a nest containing four chicks, a small amount of restoration, 30cm high. This model, which was first published in 1846, derives from the novel Paul and Virginia by Jacques-Henri Bernadin de Saint-Pierre, which tells the tragic tale of two children who grow up on a paradise island, entirely governed by nature's laws, and are then corrupted by society with tragic consequences. Provenance: the Raymond Sims Collection.
A Worcester armorial plate c.1772, painted in the atelier of James Giles with the arms of Gavin impaling Hearsey, with scattered flower sprigs in a dark purple monochrome around, gilt line rim, 22.5cm. The arms relate to David Gavin of Langton House, Berwickshire who married first Miss Hearsey of Middleburg and secondly, on 9 April 1770, the Lady Elizabeth Maitland. However, the plate would appear to post-date his second marriage. Cf. Gerald Coke, In Search of James Giles, pl. 28(a) for a similar but smaller plate from the same service.
A creamware jug of American interest c.1795, printed to one side with the American eagle surrounded by fifteen interlocking rings bearing the names of the first 15 states to be admitted into the Union, the reverse with a hand-coloured print of a ship at sail, a little restoration, 18cm high. The inclusion of Kentucky in the list of states, and the omission of Tennessee, dates the print on this jug to between June 1792 and June 1796.
A Derby two-handled vase and cover c.1770, the ovoid form painted to each side with an oval panel of flowers, with smaller panels echoed to the neck, reserved on a sea green or French green ground, and a later Derby vase finely painted to one side with garden flowers including poppy, rose, dahlia and forget-me-not, reserved on a green ground, some restoration to the first, 29.5cm max. (3) Provenance: the Cordwent Collection.

Five Anne Tyrrell couture dog outfits and designs, mostly daywear, modern, including a Chanel-style denim and leather ensemble; a 'Sloane Ranger' pin-stripe example with pocket-square; a sporty jersey tracksuit with 'Walkies' to one side; and eight original sketches, lengths approx 38-41cm, 15-16in (13) Anne Tyrrell studied fashion at the Royal College of Art from 1957 to 1960. By 1963 she had become Director of Design at clothing supplier John Marks, where she first developed a collection under her own name, and went on to set up her own London based design consultancy. In 2000 she designed the London Underground uniform still in use today. During her career spanning more than 50 years, she also acted as senior tutor at the Royal College of Art from 1974-95, and in 2008 was awarded an MBE for her contribution to the British fashion industry. A Christian Dior London ivory gazar bridal gown, 1968, labelled and numbered 47011, with beaded collar and cuffs, the front panel formed from joined sections of gazar - their points converging into a central point at bodice, bust 82cm, 32in CONDITION REPORT: First impression is fresh and good. Faint perspiration stains at underarms, small light brown stain at centre front bodice and another to front right of skirt. Hem is slightly soiled with minor scuffing. Very faint oval watermark below rear zip closure. Beading is good and intact. Hem has been raised 3cm at the back. Bodice has been let out at each side approx. 1cm - minor alterations probably done at time of purchase.
Two quilted silk petticoats, the first of olive green, c.1800, the hem quilted with scrolling floral motif; the other dark-brown with pinafore-like straps and printed cotton lining c.1860; and a black quilted cotton petticoat, late 19th century edged in knitted lace (3) CONDITION REPORT: good condition.
An Ossie Clark/Celia Birtwell moss crepe dress, mid 1970s, labelled, with 'Candy Flower' printed organdy inserts to shoulders and side of bust, low cut key-hole neckline, bust 86cm, 34in CONDITION REPORT: First impression is fresh and good. Perspiration stains at underarms. Tear along seam at left underarm. 2 small brown stains to chiffon at left shoulder. Small 1cm hole to back hip area of skirt and another near neck. Scattering of pin holes to chiffon near seam edge at rear left bodice.
A coat made from a finely embroidered 1860s kashmir shawl, circa 1910-20, embroidered to imitate the tightest kashmiri weave, the ground and elaborate palmettes minutely worked in mainly satin stitch, with blue fringed borders, the coat with single button fastening and ivory silk lining, bust 97cm, 38in CONDITION REPORT: Embroidery is astounding - must have been worked under magnifiers. At first glance it looks woven, the stitches are so fine. Exterior of coat is generally good. 2 crude darned holes to rear right side of skirt, couple more below closure button. Lining is poor condition and very soiled. Gold ribbon to neck is later added.
