1955 Ford Zephyr Zodiac Mk1Make: FordModel: Zephyr 6Year: 1955Mileage: 889VIN: EOTTA141971Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: LWN829Transmission: manualIf this smart 1955 Ford Zephyr Zodiac MkI looks a little familiar, that's because it appeared in Netflix's very popular The Crown TV series, popping up in Series 2 episode 1 as the personal car of Commander Parker, the equerry to the Queen and Prince Philip. Finished in Dorchester Grey and Winchester Blue and fitted with a rear Continental spare wheel kit, the car was first registered in May 1955. Its owner from 1990 to 2008 was a professional panel beater and mechanic and he gave the car a full body-off restoration, a photographic record of which is included in the history folder. Where necessary, lead-loading was used rather than any filler, and the Ford was also rewired with a brand new loom, while the engine was rebuilt with new pistons, rings and valves. At this point, the odometer was zeroed.
1998 Peugeot 106 GTi 15,285 miles from new Make: Peugeot Model: 106 GTi Year: 1998Mileage: 15285VIN: VF31CNFXE52272306Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: S659LDGTransmission: manualThe GTI joined the Peugeot 106 line-up with the Phase II cars of 1996 to 2003 and was viewed by many as the spiritual successor to that king of 1980s' hot hatches, the 205 GTI. This example dates from 1998, having been registered in August of that year. Since then, it has covered a remarkably low 15,285 miles from new, which can be verified from the paperwork. The car has had just two owners from new. Its first owner, a titled lady, lived in central London and used it sparingly. It passed to its second owner in 2017, who continued with its servicing schedule regardless of mileage, and also ensured it remained in excellent condition, as it it had been kept in secure dry accommodation when in the capital. We're told that the car has recently been detailed by a professional detailer. All seems to be original, even down to the dealer stickers - so many of these cars were modified by the Max Power generation that pure survivors are few and far between. Mechanically, the car seems to be in fine fettle and starts, goes, steers and stops just as it should.
1966 Vanden Plas Princess 4 litre R AutoMake: Vanden PlasModel: Princess RYear: 1966Mileage: 80455VIN: VRS36795Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: HOK288DTransmission: automaticThe 'R' in the title of the Vanden Plas Princess 4 Litre R referenced its Rolls-Royce-derived 3909cc FB60 all-aluminium engine of 175bhp, and was in production from 1964 to 1968 as one of BMC's flagship models. This two-tone Peat over Stone (grey) example, with cream leather interior, is described by the vendor as a 'very nice car that runs and drives well' and has recently (June 2020) had brakes and brake lines overhauled, a power steering leak repaired and all its fluids renewed at a cost of £5000 with receipts. The car, with only two previous registered keepers, was previously owned by a member of the Vanden Plas Owner s' Club. The car was registered in the UK in December 1966, but seems to have been initially used abroad for part of its first year, according to the V5C. The odometer now reads 80,445 miles, although this isn't warranted. The paperwork folder includes the V5C, the bill for the £5000 brake work and service, a 2019 issue of the Vanden Plas Owners' Club magazine, an original BMC marketing brochure, and a genuine BMC workshop manual, as well as an owners' club build and dating certificate.
1998 Mercedes R129 SL 280 AutoMake: Mercedes Model: R129 SL 280Year: 1998Mileage: 145577VIN: WDB1290582F166753Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: R587YAUTransmission: automatic 2,800cc. Finished in Brilliant silver with black leather interior. The original hard-top and soft-top, both finished in black, are present and in full working order. Its factory fitted options included both driver and passenger heated, electric seats, cruise control and digital climate control. Genuine Mercedes-Benz replacement front wings were fitted in January 2022 at a cost of £1,099, the supporting invoice is retained in the file. It has been registered to the last owner since 2009 and is described by the vendor as a good example that drives fantastic. The original service books containing seventeen stamps, eight of which are main dealer from 1999 to 2005 at 78,239 miles, four further stamps in the first book from 2006 to 2010 at 118,480 and five stamps in the second book covering 2011 to 2015 at 133,678 miles, are included in the file. Many receipts dating from 2004 until the present, MoTs, 2009 bill of sale, handbooks, wallet and spare key complete the file. Seven registered owners. The mileage is recorded at 145,577. 1972 Jensen Interceptor MKIIIMake: Jensen Model: Interceptor Year: 1972Mileage: 76922VIN: 1284862Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: VOY283LTransmission: automatic First registered in October 1972, this Jensen Interceptor MkIII, with 7212cc Chrysler V8 engine, is a project for recommissioning or restoration. Its odometer shows 76,922 miles although this isn't warranted, as there is no paperwork beyond the V5C and SORN documentation accompanying the car.
1932 Standard Nine R9Make: Standard Model: Nine R9 Year: 1932Mileage: 77010VIN: 225298SPConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: HAS895Transmission: manualThis 1934 Standard Nine R9 was sold by ACA in 2021, having come direct from the film company. It had been used for the production of Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, a TV adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel due to be screened in 2022 starring Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent and Emma Thompson (among others). During filming, the car sustained some planned damage. Since purchase from ourselves, the car has been professionally repaired by a classic car body shop and is now offered for sale again, looking much smarter than it did last year. Because the accident was staged for a TV production, the Standard 9 is not recorded as a total loss and has clear title although the V5 incorrectly states the year of first registration as 1932. The history folder includes the current and some previous V5Cs, a selection of bills including one for five new tyres in July 2019, assorted MoTs, various club magazines and other sundry paperwork. 1983 Ford Escort RS 1600i Make: Ford Model: Escort RS 1600i Year: 1983Mileage: 47409VIN: WFOBXXGCABDY50166Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: A116MNMTransmission: manualThis example of one of the hotter and rarer MkIII Escorts - just 8659 RS1600is were built - was registered in September 1983. With its fuel-injected 1597cc engine (it was, incidentally, the first Escort variant to receive fuel injection), the RS1600i generated 113bhp. The Escort has (1)47,409 miles recorded on its odometer, with 17 former keepers noted by the V5C. Its last MoT expired in 23 September 2016. Included in the paperwork folder are several invoices dating back to 1998. These include refurbished alloy wheels in 2012 and engine work on the valves and cylinder head in 2014. There are also photos of the Escort's rebuild and renovation - although it's unclear quite when this was - plus a copy of a Fast Ford magazine article on the RS1600i model. MoT certificates are present from 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015, which confirm the current mileage of 147,409. The car presents well, but will obviously require some recommissioning to return to the road. There are some age-related marks to the body, and minor wear apparent on the cloth interior inside, including some bagginess in spots, as is very common on Fords of this era and mileage.
