* JIM NICHOLSON (BRITISH 1924 -1996), A CLEAT ON ST. KILDA oil on canvas laid on board, signed (top left) 34.5cm x 49.5cm Framed Note : Nicholson came to Edinburgh and worked for an advertising company for nine years, before joining the National Trust for Scotland in 1964, as its first artist designer. He retired in 1983 with the title of Art Director and had contributed immensely to the Trust's growth and effectiveness. He visited St Kilda; many of his paintings were of that world-renowned archipelago, and Trust work there always had his special interest. While being a full time artist by then, he was also a keen hill walker which enabled him to gain access to other remote parts of Scotland, particularly the North-West and Hebridean Islands. Since the 1970's Jim held over 40 one-man exhibitions throughout Scotland and in London, his work being in great demand. Many of his paintings are in public and private collections in America, Australia, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Japan, South Africa and New Zealand, and throughout Britain, including that of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

* RONALD RAE, THY WILL BE DONE charcoal on paper, signed, titled and dated '86 87cm x 154cm Framed and under glass. Note: Ronald Rae was born in Ayr, Scotland in 1946. Whilst still in short trousers he struck his first granite rock. At the age of twelve he was drawing a weekly cartoon strip for a local newspaper. Drawing would be an important part of his life but sculpture his main love and obsession. In the beginning Rae explored his faith through his art. This resulted in a large series of emotive drawings and carvings based on the life of Christ. Being brought up in the countryside it followed that he expressed his appreciation of animals in his art. Aware of his Celtic heritage he thrilled at seeing Scotland's ancient carved stones and Celtic crosses that often included wild boar, horses and bears. In response he has carved all these animals. Rae is one of Scotland's best known sculptors, having carved the Lion of Scotland, located in St Andrews Square, Edinburgh. The Lion was carved from a twenty tonne boulder of pink Corrennie granite from Aberdeenshire. It took over a year to complete using hand tools only. At present the sculpture is on loan to Essential Edinburgh and on exhibition in St Andrew Square Gardens in Edinburgh City Centre.

BOXING COOPER-CLAY Pair of boxing gloves worn by Henry Cooper when he fought Cassius Clay 1963 and put the great man onto his backside. The gloves are encased in a wooden box with glass front and inscriptions and comes with authenticity. The authenticity is a letter from the Sunday Express who awarded the gloves to the vendor as a competition prize and they were presented to the vendor by Henry himself who confirmed that he had worn the gloves in the fight. The inscriptions read "The Gloves That Did Not Split" and "Used by Henry Cooper in his fight with Cassius Clay. Henry is the first man to put Clay down. Wembley Stadium 17-6-63" The inscription is slightly wrong as the date was actually 18-6-63. Cooper hit Clay so hard that trainer Angelo Dundee cut one of Clays gloves so that it had to be replaced and this gave Clay extra time to recover from the punch that put him down. The gloves are in a case and it measures 36cm x 42cm x 14cm. As described
