A Japanese lithograph, of a young man with an elaborate floral body tattoo and black cape from the series "Mishima Go Book of Young Men", signed Mishima Gô (1921-81), circa 1972, 41cm x 27cm. Tsuyoshi Mishima, who worked under the name Mishima Go, was one of the first contemorary gay artists of Japan. He contributed illustrations to "Barazoku"(The Rose Tribe), the first commercial gay magazine in Japan, published by Daini Shobo in Tokyo in 1971. Dissatisfied with the bishônen art style of Barazoku, Mishima founded the magazine Sabu in 1974, which focused on imaged of masculine men, and was more explicitly pornographic. Mishimaalso created a seris of lithograph portraits of young men, most of them with tattoos, titled "Mishima Go Book of Young Men" in 1972. Published by Danini Shobo, the series was a portfolio of 24 portraits. Considered gay erotica, his images feature rugged young men with short cropped hair and, most of them with impressive full body tattoos. Works by Mishima Go are rare.

Rowling’s Harry Potter series. The franchise has now expanded to encompass eight Harry Potter films, two Fantastic Beasts films, a sell-out stage play, three theme parks and a studio tour. As of 2016, the Harry Potter industry was estimated to be worth $25 billion. It is therefore very poignant to encounter the point at which all this began: J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was published in London, by Bloomsbury, in 1997. Unsure of its success, the publishers issued only 500 copies of the first edition, first impression in hardback. The book is the jewel in a Harry Potter collector’s crown. This copy, being one of the 500 first impression hardbacks produced, has the numberline reading 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 on the publisher’s imprint page, the publisher is listed as Bloomsbury, the error of ‘1 wand’ is listed twice in Harry’s school equipment list and ‘Philosopher’ is misspelt ‘Philospher’ on the lower cover. It is an exceptionally rare book to find. Wendy Cooling's review on the upper cover states: "A terrific read and a stunning first novel", another key issue point of the first edition, first impression. The book is indeed a story that has captured the hearts of generations around the world, with this copy representing the birth of a true classic.

The edition number was restricted to 121 in tribute to the incredible 121 operational sorties carried out by the Lancaster bomber, Phantom of the Ruhr. Nicolas Trudgian B 17 Flying Fortress signed by 5 prominent USAAF veterans who flew B 17 Flying Fortresses and B 24 Liberators in combat over Europe during WW2. This print is originally from a small print series of six American classic WW2 aircraft signed by some of the great American pilots and aircrew. When originally issued this print was number 1 250A and was signed by the artist, Nicolas Trudgian, and Pilot Major Robert W Sternfels who was posted to the 98th Bomb Group flying B24 Liberators, and by April 1943 was in Libya where he took part in the first big Ploesti raid on 1 August 1943, flying the much photographed B24 Sandman. Flying 50 combat missions, he later commanded his squadron out of Libya and Italy, including a big Ragensberg raid. However, this particular print has benefited greatly by being additionally autographed by 4 other extremely well known USAAF pilots and aircrew: Captain Robert J Shoens. Served as First Pilot on B 17 Our Gal Sal with the 351st Bomb Squadron, Bobs first mission was on 5th January 1944 and he went on to complete a total of 28 missions. These included the first major daylight raids to Berlin on 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th March 1944, in fact his crew were the only 351st aircraft to return from the raid on 6th March, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Kleyla. Served as Bombardier on B 17 Jack the Ripper, 91st BG, and flew on some of the first 8th Air Force missions of the war, Brigadier General J. Kemp McLaughlin. Served as B 17 Pilot, 92nd BG, and Lead pilot on the second Schweinfurt raid and Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Nutter. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps the day after the attack on Pearl Harbour and left the service in 1945 as Lieutenant Colonel. He was a Navigator in 305th BG, serving as navigator for five generals including Curtis LeMay and Haywood Hansell. Gerald Coulson Moonlight Limited Edition signed by WW2 Special Duties Lysander Pilot Flt. Lt. Peter Arkell RAF. This print is from the Limited Edition number 35 350 published in 2006 and is supplied with the original Certificate of Authenticity. The print is signed by the artist, Gerald Coulson, and Special Duties Lysander pilot: Flight Lieutenant Peter Arkell. For his first tour Peter Arkell flew Mustangs and Spitfires with 26 Squadron on intruder and low level photographic sorties over France, before joining 161 Squadron as Tempsford in 1944, flying Lysanders into occupied Europe mainly supporting SOE operations. He then accompanied the Lysanders to Burma where he flew 35 successful but hazardous missions supplying Force 136 behind the Japanese lines. He was awarded the OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 1997 for his work as chairman of the Anglo American community relations committee at RAF Fairford. Peter Arkell passed away on 27th August 2010. The print measures approximately 18.75 inches x 16 inches and has been stored flat, out of the light and is in very good condition. Print historical detail: Flying secret agents in and out of occupied France, transporting arms and radio equipment to the Resistance, and collecting downed airmen from behind enemy lines were all among the most hazardous flying operations of World War II. RARE Kurt Tank (1898 1983) was a German aeronautical engineer and test pilot who led the design department at Focke Wulf from 1931 to 1945. He was responsible for the creation of several important Luftwaffe aircraft of World War 2, including the Fw 190 fighter aircraft, the Ta 152 fighter interceptor and the Fw 200 Condor airliner. After the war, Tank spent two decades designing aircraft abroad, working first in Argentina and then in India, before returning to Germany in the late 1960s to work as a consultant for Messerschmitt Bolkow Blohm (MBB). Kurt Tank survived the war and lived until 1983. It is possible to find his signature on various signed aviation stamp covers from the 1970s and early 1980s. However, it is rare to find his genuine wartime signature on a period photocard that shows him in Nazi Party uniform. This is a rare genuine wartime autograph, signed on a black, white photocard measuring approximately 5 inches x 3.5 inches. In good condition (please see photographs). Sir Edmund Hillary KG, ONZ, KBE (20 July 1919 11 January 2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer, philanthropist and he served in the Royal New Zealand Airforce during WW2. On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. Hillary became interested in mountaineering while in secondary school. He made his first major climb in 1939, reaching the summit of Mount Olivier. He served in the Royal New Zealand Airforce as a navigator during World War II in No. 6 (later 5) Squadron RNZAF on Catalina flying boats. In 1945, he was sent to Fiji and to the Solomon Islands, where he was badly burnt in an accident. This is a Trans Antarctic Expedition 1956 58 Official Souvenir Cover with a Scott Base Ross Dependency postmark for 11th January 1957 signed by Sir Edmund Hillary, Expedition Leader of the Trans Antarctic Expedition. RARE WW1 Canada Raymond Collishaw, CB, DSO & Bar, OBE, DSC, DFC (22 November 1893 28 September 1976) was a distinguished Canadian fighter pilot, squadron leader, and commanding officer who served in the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) and later the Royal Air Force. He was the highest scoring RNAS flying ace and the second highest scoring Canadian pilot of the First World War. He was noted as a great leader in the air, leading many of his own formations into battle. After the Great War, he became a permanent commissioned officer in the RAF, seeing action against the Bolsheviks in 1919 20, and subsequently commanding various Air Service detachments. During the Second World War, he commanded No. 204 Group (which later became the Desert Air Force in North Africa, achieving great success against the numerically and technologically superior Italian Air Force. RARE WW1 Canada Captain Arthur Roy Brown DSC & Bar (23 December 1893 9 March 1944) was a Canadian flying ace of the First World War, credited with ten aerial victories. The Royal Air Force officially credited Brown with shooting down Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, although it is now considered all but certain by historians, doctors, and ballistics experts that Richthofen was actually killed by a machine gunner firing from the ground. A rare Canada Air Mail cover celebrating the First Regular Official Flight from Moose Jaw to Medicine Hat postmarked March 3rd 1930 signed on the front by Captain Arthur Roy Brown. Mike Bannister Concorde Pilot He is most famous as the Chief Pilot of British Airways Concorde fleet, a post which he held from 1995 until its withdrawal from service in 2003. He joined the British Airways crew of Concorde in 1977 where he became its youngest pilot. In his Concorde career Bannister accumulated around 9,000 flight hours almost 7,000 of which were Supersonic. WW2 Imperial Airways Egypt 1944 This is an original notice to air passengers from Captain R F Caspareuthus, Commander of Short Empire Flying Boat G ADHM Caledonia given prior to arrival in Cairo and is dated 25th March 1944. It is a slightly unusual notice and not terribly flattering about Cairo or the Sphinx, but it is a very interesting historical document (Please see photographs for text). Aircraft G ADHM Caledonia was a Short Empire, a medium range four engined monoplane flying boat, designed and developed by Short Brothers during the 1930s to meet the requirements of the growing commercial airline sector, with a particular emphasis upon its usefulness upon the core routes that served the United Kingdom. Upon entering service, the Empire routinely flew between the British mainland and Australia and the various British colonies in Africa and Asia, typically carrying a combination of passenger and mail cargoes. The second Empire ever produced and the first of the long range models to enter service was G ADHM, named Caledonia, performing her first flight on 15 September 1936 and was delivered to Imperial Airways on 4 December 1936. This original notice is an unusual survivor from the Short Empire Flying Boat G ADHM flight into Cairo on 25th March 1944 and measures approximately 11 inches x 8.5 inches. RARE WW2 RAF Mosquito multi signed Special Cover No. 2 including RAF Ace Sir John William Maxwell Aitken (1910 1985) 2nd Baronet, DSO, DFC, briefly 2nd Baron Beaverbrook in 1964, was a Canadian British fighter pilot and flying ace of the Second World War, a Conservative politician, and press baron. He was the son of Max Aitken, 1st Baron Beaverbrook. Aitken served as a pilot with No. 1 Squadron RAF during the Battle of Britain with some success, he was C/O of No. 68 Squadron RAF, a night fighter unit, from February 1941 until January 1943, claiming four night victories, Aitken became Wing Leader of the Banff Strike Wing RAF Coastal Command in 1944 which included 143, 235, 248 and 333 Squadrons all flying Mosquitos. He reached the rank of Group Captain, achieving 16 1/2 aerial victories. Group Captain R Gordon Slate OBE. As O/C Testing Flight at Boscombe Down he was responsible for carrying out the RAF proving trials for the Mosquito until October 1941 and then he was given command of the First Mosquito Fighter Squadron 157 formed at Debden on December 13th 1941. Squadron Leader R C Muir DFC. A member of 605 Squadron, the navigator with Mosquito VI UP R flown by Wing Commander B R O'Brien Hoare DSO DFC who was the only one eyed pilot allowed on operational duties in the RAF. Hoare survived the war but died in a flying accident in Malaya in 1948 and Mr W J Goldsmith was the man who saved the prototype Mosquito from destruction and the owner of Salisbury Hall, home of the Mosquito Museum. All four signed on a Mosquito Aircraft Museum, Salisbury Hall, St Albans 35th Anniversary of the D.H. Field Marshal William Joseph Slim (1891 1970) 1st Viscount Slim, KG, GCB, GCMG, GCVO, GBE, DSO, MC, KStJ, usually known as Bill Slim, was a British military commander and the 13th Governor General of Australia. Slim saw active service in both the First and Second World Wars and was wounded in action three times. Jeffrey Quill (1913 1996) OBE, AFC, FRAeS was a British test pilot who served on secondment with the Royal Air Force and Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was also the second man to fly the Spitfire after Vickers Aviation's chief test pilot, Joseph Mutt Summers. During WW2 Quill was in charge of development and production flying at Vickers, a job that he took so seriously that he felt he must obtain first-hand combat experience. He successfully argued the need to gain front line operational experience and was temporarily released on 5 August 1940 to join No.65 Squadron at RAF Hornchurch. On 16 August he shot down a Messerschmitt Bf109 and two days later he shared a victory over a Heinkel Hw 111. His combat days were short lived because he was recalled after nineteen days to test the Spitfire Mk III. Signed on a RAF(F)1 Supermarine Spitfire 50th Anniversary of the First Flight cover 1986, flown in a Spitfire Mk19 of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Good condition.
