He [Lowry] visited us here […] and we made return visits on many occasions to his house at Mottram in Longdendale. He always enjoyed coming and being with the children, whom he watched growing up. He was a most kind person…" before describing the exchanges of their first meeting and subsequent friendship, as well as the two gifts received "the pencil sketch of 7 figures […] and the larger sketch of 8 figures", lots 509 and 510. Dame Vivienne Westwood DBE, RDI (1941-2022) "VW Flag Mini" Hand-woven tapestry for The Rug Company, 90cm by 153cmThis famous Union Jack motif was first provocatively modelled as a bridal stole in the Vivienne Westwood Autumn/Winter (20)02/(20)03 'Anglophilia' collection. 2002 AC Cobra By Gravetti Engineering Transmission: manualMileage:12049When a Cobra 427, wearing 'Daytona' bodywork, was tested at 180mph on the M1, the Minister of Transport retaliated by slapping a 70mph speed limit on all Britain's roads. This (apocryphal) story is typical of the folklore that surrounds one of the last production cars to be designed, built and bought purely for the joy of driving. The GE 427 is a realistic replica of the 1960's classic; devastating acceleration, grossly illegal top speed, leech-like road holding and aggressive, head-turning body styling. But with the advantages of modern engineering techniques and safety features. GE Ltd. offered four engine and three gearbox options which were fully rebuilt and guaranteed for 12 months. The ladder style chassis was fully protected with two-part acrylic paint and waxoyl. The front and rear suspension and brakes were taken and modified from a donor Jaguar which also supplied the identity and year of the car. Rack and pinion steering and wheels are Halibrand replicas. As the GE sales brochure states: 'Don't buy a GE 427 to impress your mother-in-law. Don't buy one as a family runabout. Don't buy one to take your bank manager to lunch. Buy one for the sheer enjoyment.'This particular example is understood to have been built in the mid/late 1990's and first registered in October 2002. A full photographic record is included detailing the build. Power comes in the form of the trust Rover 3.5-litre V8 with a Holley four-barrel carburettor, giving ample power and that all important V8 rumble. The suspension is adjustable, so can be tailored to suit the preference of the driver depending on their requirements. The black mohair soft top is removeable, allowing for a very authentic looking car when the roof is removed completely, as the originals were. The car is in excellent order throughout, having covered less than 12,000 miles and the Royal Blue bodywork has an excellent shine. This Gravetti Engineering Cobra is valued at somewhere between 2%-3% of the price of an original 427, and certainly provides much more than 3% of the driving experience! Offered to auction with an MoT test certificate valid until May 2024, a V5C registration document and a comprehensive service record detailing works carried out over the years and a recent bill of nearly £1900 in August 2023 for work on the steering/suspension and a thorough service.
2000 Chevrolet 2000 Chevrolet Suburban GMT400 Transmission: automaticMileage:73000The Chevrolet Suburban is a full-size SUV from Chevrolet and the name started in 1934 for the 1935 U.S. model year, making it the longest continuously used automobile nameplate in production. It has traditionally been one of General Motors' most profitable vehicles. The 1935 first generation Carryall Suburban was one of the first production all-metal bodied station wagons. It now comes with three engine options: a 5.3 litre V8, 6.2 litre V8 or a 3.0 litre Inline-6 turbo diesel. The GMT400-based Suburbans were introduced in December 1991 for the 1992 model year. The similar pickup truck models had switched to the newer platforms in the 1988 model year. Both 2WD and 4WD models, designated 'C' and 'K', were offered, as well as half ton and three-quarter ton ('1500' and '2500') models. Trim options included a base-level version, the LS, and the LT. Interior seating arrangements allowed for either bucket or bench seating in the first row and optional third row bench. The vehicle could be configured from two to nine passenger seating. Transmissions included the 4L60 four-speed automatic in the 1500 series, and the heavier duty 4L80 four-speed automatic in the 2500.Originally registered on 1st September 2002 this Chevrolet has only had the one keeper in the UK and has been used sparingly having covered less than 4,000 miles per year. These well built, robust American SUV's often have a hard life, however, this example is an exception, it is in very good order throughout. These are great vehicles to drive, with ample room in the cockpit area and in the rear for the passengers. The 5.3 litre petrol engine operates smoothly and quietly and offers brisk performance, particularly considering the size of a Suburban. The black coachwork is in very good order and the beige leather interior shows no significant signs of wear. We are advised this Chevrolet drives with no known faults and is supplied with a V5C registration document and will be presented for an MoT test prior to the auction. An extremely practical family SUV with substantial interior space for people and luggage. Consigned by Stewart Banks
2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 230 Kompressor Elegance Transmission: automaticMileage:75000Historically, the E-Class is Mercedes-Benz' best-selling model, with more than 13 million sold by 2015. The first E-Class series was originally available as a four-door saloon, five-door estate, two-door coupé and two-door convertible. From 1997 to 2009, the equivalent coupé and convertible were sold under the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class nameplate which was actually based on the mechanical underpinnings of the smaller C-Class while borrowing the styling and some powertrains from the E-Class. A trend continued with the C207 E-Class coupé/convertible which was sold parallel to the W212 E-Class saloon and estate models. With the latest incarnation of the E-Class released for the 2017 model year, all body styles share the same W213 platform. The coupé (C207) was first shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, while the convertible (A207) was unveiled at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.Presented well in metallic blue with grey leather interior, this CLK 230 was purchased in Switzerland as a right hand drive example, costing SFr 82,446, the car boasts extras such as leather, electric heated memory seats, parking sensors, windbreak, air conditioning and rain sensing wipers. Used in Switzerland, as the previous owners summer car, until 2019 when it relocated to the UK, this car was also exclusively serviced by the supplying main agents Procar in Davos. Since its arrival in the UK, the car has covered a mere 4,000 miles and it was always garaged in the previous owners garage in Switzerland and the UK. Accompanied by the original supplying invoice, an MoT test certificate until August 2024, the original brochure and every servicing invoice from new, this is a fabulous, sporty and classy convertible. 2011 Volvo XC60 T5 SE Auto Transmission: automaticMileage:65000The production vehicle was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Sales began in Europe in the third quarter of 2008 and in North America in early 2009 as a 2010 model. The XC60 has been Volvo's best selling car since 2009. Manufactured by subsidiary Volvo Car Gent in Ghent, Belgium, the first generation XC60 is based on Volvo's P3 platform and the XC60 shares technology with the Land Rover Freelander of 2007. At the time of development, both Land Rover and Volvo were owned by Ford and development was split between the two subsidiaries. Much of the engineering and tuning of this CUV was done by Volvo in Sweden, although offroad capabilities were developed at Land Rover in England. In April 2010, an R-Design variant of the XC60 became available, featuring a colour-matching body kit, stiffer chassis and damping, and other unique exterior/interior trim. This very nice example, imported from Japan, is presented in black with black leather interior and comes with an electric panoramic sunroof, electric memory seats, lane departure feature, obstacle warning, active cruise control, electric windows to front and rear and air conditioning. It also comes with a mileage guarantee certificate and is ULEZ compliant. This is a great SUV in good condition and is very comfortable to drive, as well as extremely practical. Please note that the stereo and odometer/computer will be UK OEM specification at the time of the Auction. Consigned, by James Good
1985 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:94547The Mercedes-Benz was manufactured from 1954 and the designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300 SL 'Gullwing' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 automobiles were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz, after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116). The SL variant was a two-seat convertible/roadster with standard soft top, hardtop and optional foldable seats for the rear bench. Volume production of the first R107 car, the 350 SL, started in April 1971 alongside the last of the W113 cars.Originally registered on 1st June 1985 this delightful R107 Mercedes-Benz is the larger 4973cc engine model. Finished in Cabernet Red with grey leather interior, this example has the rear seat fitted, as well as a hardtop. Having been in long term ownership for a number of years, this 500 SL comes with a good history folder. Presenting in good order throughout, this Mercedes-Benz drives well with no known faults. The 5.0 litre engine offers brisk performance and a very smooth ride. Supplied with a V5C registration document these Mercedes-Benz 500 SL's have to be well cared for and this one certainly has been.
2005 Jaguar Sovereign V8 LWB (4.2 Litre) Transmission: automaticMileage:10543The first XJ was launched in 1968 and the designation has been used for successive Jaguar flagship models ever since. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder. With the introduction of the X308 generation in 1997 came a switch from the 'XJ6' nomenclature to 'XJ8', reflecting the fact that the X308 cars were powered by a new V8 engine. The exterior styling of the X308 was similar to its predecessor the X300, with minor refinements such as a change to oval indicator lenses and round fog lights.Originally registered on 28th October 2005 this exceptional Jaguar has only covered 10,543 miles from new. It was a chauffeur driven car for a CEO and as such, has been exceptionally well cared for. The black coachwork is unmarked as is the cream leather interior. These are very well appointed vehicles however this example benefits from having TV's in the headrests, four-zone climate control and heated rear seats. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 6th February 2025 together with service history validating the mileage. These aluminium bodied Jaguars will surely become collectable, fantastic, unmarked examples such as this will certainly stand out from the rest. Consignor Stewart Banks.Guide £9,000-£12,000
1959 BMW Isetta 300 Transmission: manualMileage:The Isetta is an Italian-designed microcar built under licence in a number of different countries including Germany and the United Kingdom. Produced in the post war years, at a time when cheap, short distance transportation was most needed, it became one of the most successful and influential city cars ever created. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a 'bubble car'; a name then later given to other similar vehicles. The Isetta was, in 1955, the world's first mass-produced car and was the top-selling single-cylinder car in the world with a total of 161,728 units sold. BMW made the Isetta its own, redesigning most of the car so much so that none of the parts between a BMW Isetta Moto Coupé and an Iso Isetta could be interchangeable. While it retained the 'Bubble Window' styling, the BMW version differed from the Italian model in that the headlamps were fixed separately to the sides of the bodywork and it carried the BMW badge below the windscreen. This example was built in Brighton under licence from BMW and was originally registered in the UK in September 1959. It is a little known fact that the left hand drive examples were actually marginally faster than their right hand drive counterparts, due to a 27kg counterweight added to right hand drive cars, to keep them balanced. Our vendor purchased this example from an enthusiast owner in May 2021, after always promising himself he would own one. The vendor is well versed in classic car restoration and in 2022, decided to refresh the paint and change it from its previous all yellow bodywork to the two tone Old English White with yellow colour scheme you see today. The work he carried out was completed to a very high standard and the car presents in excellent condition throughout. The grey with tartan interior also presents well. It's hard not to like an Isetta and this one is offered to auction with a very attractive estimate and can be enjoyed right away. The car is supplied with an extensive history file and a V5C registration document. Consignor Fraser Smith
1980 BMW 735i Transmission: automaticMileage:93110BMW's very first 7 series, known internally as the E23, was first launched in 1977. All E23s were fitted with six-cylinder engines and the 735i took over at the top of the range from the 733i in 1979. It had 215 bhp and a 0-60 mph time of 7.9 seconds for the manual. Contemporary road tests praised the big BMW for its superb handling and strong performance and braking, although the ride was a bit firmer than the class leaders. The 735i was facelifted in 1983 and remained the flagship of the range until it was replaced by the E32 in 1986.Registered new on 26th March 1980 this example is generally presented in good condition. The paintwork presents well and retains a deep shine and the interior is in good order. Reported by the vendor to drive very well indeed the BMW is tax and MoT exempt. Offered with a history file containing the original owners manual, complete book pack and its original service booklet. Also included is the current UK registration document and previous MoT records. 1964 Bentley S3 Continental Drophead MPW Transmission: automaticMileage:89236At the London Motor Show in 1959, Rolls-Royce Bentley Motors introduced their all-new 6.2-litre V8 engine with the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II and Bentley S2 models. A classic configuration of pushrod overhead valves, central camshaft and crossflow heads, the block and cylinder heads were alloy, and the fuel mixture was delivered through two horizontal SU HD6 carburettors. A new development of the engine arrived in 1962 with the third generation S series, mounted on the Silver Cloud III and S3. The headlight styling of S3 Continentals earned them the sobriquet of 'Chinese Eye' models, or 'Chinese Lanterns', as referred to by Sir Elton John, one of the most famous owners of the model. Except for the adoption of quadruple headlights, it was difficult to differentiate at first glance between the S3 and previous models; however, there were numerous minor changes, one being a lower radiator shell resulting in a more pronounced shape in the bonnet line. The improved engine of the S3 delivered a compression ratio of 9:1, which resulted in 220 bhp and a top speed close to 120 mph. Yet the car still afforded four luxuriously upholstered seats and a power-operated top that was as shapely as any fixed head coupé on the market. Once lowered, the hood disappeared behind the rear seats; and the electric power windows and rear quarter-lights retracted to create the most elegant of open-top four-seaters. This is a car that glides effortlessly and with considerable grace wherever you choose to point it.To bring the design into full production, Park Ward relied heavily on the methods that they had used in aviation work with extensive use of welded steel for the frame and panels, thereby creating an extremely strong, single bodywork structure. The S3 Continental chassis was the swansong for the finest creative efforts of the specialist coachbuilders and was the last Bentley to have a separate chassis. The final chassis rolled off the production line in 1966 and the term 'Continental' was not then used on any subsequent Bentley model for decades. The Bentley S3 Continental drophead coupé is indeed a very rare vehicle. From a total production run of just 58, only 27 were made in right hand drive form.We are delighted to offer this extremely rare Bentley. Originally registered on 1st January 1964, the buff log book that is the file for this car, shows that the first owner was The Earl of Inchcape and was registered to his family home of Glenapp castle, Ballantrae, Ayrshire. Copies of the original build schedule show that this impressive car was ordered with a power hood, electric windows and luggage straps. Following several different owners, the car was purchased by enthusiast Mr. Peter Sayer in March 1993. The car is offered for sale following the unfortunate passing of Mr. Sayer. We are informed that although dry stored, the car has not been driven for several years and will require restoration, therefore buyers please be aware that this fabulous British classic is not able to be driven away from the auction and transport will be needed to take the car to its next destination. Offered without reserve and with a file that contains earlier sales invoices, bills of work and a V5C registration document 905 GYV is a rare opportunity to own such an important piece of automotive history. 1999 Bentley Arnage Green Label Transmission: automaticMileage:78000The Bentley Arnage was launched in 1998, a large luxury saloon car that replaced the previous Bentley Turbo saloon. Built by Bentley Motors in Crewe from 1998 to 2009, the Arnage and its Rolls-Royce sibling the Silver Seraph, were introduced in the Spring of 1998 and were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The Arnage Green Label was to be powered by a powerful BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered twin-turbo chargers. This handsome Bentley was registered in March 1999 and since then has covered less than 80,000 miles, an average of just over 3,000 miles per year. The car presents extremely well in Silver coachwork with recently Connollised parchment leather. The file for this classic British car contains a V5C registration document, a recently passed MoT test certificate and various bills and receipts for servicing work. These include invoices from marque specialist Silver Lady Services between 2012 and 2015 that total nearly £10,000. Recently recommissioned, this Bentley is offered at a fraction of its original cost and has even been professionally fitted with an LPG conversion to further reduce running costs. 2000 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Coupé (Manual) Transmission: manualMileage:38013Regarded by many as one of the world's most beautiful cars when released in 1994, the DB7 received many subtle but effective changes over its 10 year life to complement the elegant body design. Originally designed by Ian Callum to be both beautiful and practical and encompass all the unmistakable DB styling cues, it was initially deemed a little underpowered and thus lacking in excitement. In 1999 the DB7 received significant enhancements with the introduction of the Vantage. The Vantage was the first Aston Martin to use the V12 engine and alongside styling changes enabled 420bhp with the manual example achieving 184mph top speed. A more aggressive styling with a bigger front grille, new fog lights, side and indicator lights and imposing 18 wheels complemented the styling refresh. The Vantage interior leather trim was cut and sewn at a special trim shop at Newport Pagnell, where the carpet and wood veneers were also prepared.Originally registered on 30th May 2000 this Aston Martin is finished in the delightful colour combination of Porsche Cobalt Blue with Pacific Blue and Parchment interior. A walnut dash and door cappings, together with dark blue Wilton carpets finish the cabin area supremely well. Having covered a mere 38,013 miles from new, this DB7 has had only three owners throughout its lifetime, the current registered keeper has owned the car since September 2004. Not only does this car have low ownership and mileage, it is fitted with a manual gearbox. Manual examples of a DB7 Vantage are rare and to find a low mileage example is even harder to find. Present in the history file are the original service books, showing the car was supplied by JCT in Leeds. There are nine stamps in the service book, along with a host of invoices. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 8th October 2024, this Aston Martin DB7 Vantage, with its six-speed manual gearbox is sure to create interest. 1962 Triumph TR4 Transmission: manualMileage:75331Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Today, the four-cylinder TRs are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists.Purchased new by Alan Bates, renowned Jazz record producer, impresario and the man who launched the career of Jamie Cullum, this TR4 is finished in red with black trim and first registered to Mr Bates on 14th June in 1962. Mr Bates had worked previously with Jimmy Hendrix, Tina Turner, and Otis Redding, while working for Polydor records, but in the late 60's we are informed by his daughter that he took this left-hand drive example to Paris where he lived and worked for several years opposite the Moulin Rouge, running Riverside Records before returning with the car to Southwest London where it remained. Sadly, after his passing in January 2023, the car was left to his wife and now owner of 2063 WK, who informs us that the car has been dry stored under covers in the family garage for about a decade, however, it was subject to an oil change and run in the summer of 2017 by Mr Bates nephew. Recently the car has been discovered, removed from the garage and sent to NVS for a light recommissioning, new oil, fuel and plugs all fitted and the car, although would benefit from further recommissioning should the buyer wish to use it on the road, it now starts and runs on the turn of the key and rolling freely however will be required to be trailered away. One can only imagine the people who have been passengers in 2063 WK and the events it would have been parked outside, a car Alan could not bare to part with throughout his life and was fondly remembered by his family, but for further recommissioning a wonderful sports car with a nice provenance and just one previous keeper. 1927 Ford Model T Transmission: manualMileage:After spending his formative years as a motor manufacturer experimenting with a variety of models, Henry Ford pared the company's range down to just one - the legendary Model T - destined to become the world's first truly mass-produced automobile. Introduced in October 1908, the Model T boasted a simple 100 wheelbase chassis that contrived to be both lightweight and durable thanks to the pioneering use of vanadium steel. The chassis track width of 56 was the same as that of a horse-drawn wagon, thereby enabling the Model T safely to negotiate rutted dirt roads. The engine was a 20hp four-cylinder sidevalve displacing 2,896cc and the transmission a simple-to-use two-speed planetary unit. By 1915 Ford had ceased to offer a range of colours, settling on just one - black - because the paint dried quicker, although some dealers began repainting cars in brighter colours after receiving them from the factory. This delightful Fort Model T finished in metallic green with yellow painted wheels and black trim is in fabulous condition throughout much owing to an extensive restoration completed by the vendor's father. First registered in the United States in 1927 the car was imported in 2017 as a part retirement project, still wearing US style plates the car racked up a considerable restoration bill which is all detailed in the comprehensive history file. Offered with a UK V5 registration certificate and details from its purchase in the US. Sadly, since his passing the car had been garaged but the family whom fondly remember the time spent with the car have had it recommissioned and it is now ready to be enjoyed by the next custodian. Consignor Mathew Priddy Guide price £13,000-17.000 *Interested parties please note, currently sold with an old V5, the current V5 has been applied for and expected imminently
1931 Rolls-Royce 20 / 25 Sedanca de Ville by Windovers Transmission: manualMileage:57000First registered on 7th May 1931 and finished in pastel blue and black with black leather interior, GNS75 was initially ordered by J.J. Jones of 88 St. James's Street, London however the first owner was actually Hylton Ralph Murray-Philipson (Jnr) of Stobo Castle, Peebles. Stobo Castle had been purchased by Hylton Murray-Philipson Snr in 1905 and in 1924 he conveyed the estate to his son who was a pioneer aviator. Hylton's career consisted of being the C.O. of the City of Edinburgh Auxiliary Air Force Squadron, Conservative MP for Twickenham; Chairman of N.E. Marine Engineering Company and a member of the King's Bodyguard for Scotland and the Royal Company of Archers. Hylton Murray-Philipson suffered from ill health and died in 1934 aged 32 leaving GNS75 to his wife Monica and two young children. In 1939 Monica Murray-Philipson sold Stobo Castle to Wenefryde Agatha Scott, 10th Countess of Dysart and after 10 years of being a widow Monica married Colonel P.H. Lloyd of Stone House in Blaston. The Colonel and Murray-Philipson had business connections as they were both company directors of Manvers Main Collieries Ltd €“ Murray-Philipson in 1923/33 and Lloyd in 1940/47. In 1943 GNS75 is shown as being with her second family, that of John Stanley Coombe Beard of Grayshott Hall, Surrey. John Beard was an architect well known for designing over 100 cinemas in many styles, Baroque, Art Deco, Italian Renaissance, Greek Revival and even Egyptian. Interestingly in 1937 Mrs Beard made call to the police about an attempted burglary which resulted in the first arrest directly attributable to the new 999 service. A rare, possibly unique and very attractively designed car incorporating many appealing features such as stylish wings, separate steps in place of running boards, slim bumpers, external visor and louvred bonnet and scuttle with beautifully proportioned coachwork. With a polished aluminium bonnet top and waistline and P80 'bullseye' headlamps with pillar spot lamp all adds to the overall gorgeous design with the incorporation of various Art Deco touches. This 20/25 allows you to instruct your chauffeur from the privacy of the rear passenger compartment with the interior dividing screen while keeping an eye on progress with your own speedometer which is naturally mounted atop the built-in drink's cabinet. Such unusual original features are what make this Rolls-Royce special, even the delightful Sedanca de Ville coachwork is rare with its split separate steps and Art Deco flourishes. The front compartment provides accommodation for the driver and a passenger with a removable roof section for open-air motoring and wind-up windows. The driver's window also featuring a quick release lower section to allow hand signals to be easily executed. A right hand gear change allows for plenty of legroom and the large steering wheel is surmounted by a collection of hand controls. A large bulb horn lies easily to hand and the windscreen can be opened for ventilation. It is shaded by a glass visor and a spot lamp is within the driver's reach. Gauges are also a feature of the rear passenger compartment, although separated by a dividing screen, the rear passengers can keep an eye on their own speedometer as well as being supplied with a clock, barometer and a circular thermometer. The clock, and possibly the barometer, appear to be later additions. The drinks cabinet has provision for holding several decanters and a few glasses in a Lazy Susan, although the glassware itself is no longer present. The leather upholstery looks to be in lovely condition throughout, exhibiting just the right amount of patina without looking tatty. The carpets, door cards and headlining are similarly well presented as are stylish Art Deco door handles and window winders, which place this Rolls-Royce squarely in the 1930s. To the exterior, the Palladian radiator surround is topped with the Spirit of Ecstasy and the long bonnet is flanked by twin side-mount spare wheels. A pair of large Lucas tripod headlamps illuminate the road ahead and are assisted by a centrally mounted spot lamp, as well as the swivelling spot lamp near the driver. Twin horns complete the scene at the front of the car, along with a polished chrome-plated bumper. The Windovers Sedanca de Ville coachwork suits the car well and is beautifully proportioned. It features the unusual running boards, separate for front and rear passengers, as well as a useful luggage boot to the rear. Polished aluminium discs cover the wire wheels and the car runs on a full set of Paymaster tyres. Lifting the long bonnet reveals the powerful, straight-six, 3.7 litre engine. The engine features coil ignition and is fed by an Autovac fuel pump and, unusually for a car of this period, there is a glass bottle of screen wash mounted on the bulkhead, which is likely to be a later addition coupled to a small modern electric pump which has been added for ease of use. Supplied with a history file which includes historic photographs of restoration, instruction book and the original buff logbook coupled to the V5C registration document and copies of handwritten service records. The vendor informs us that the engine starts up easily every time and runs well. It is said to be a joy to drive and mechanically sound with its overhead valves, four-speed gearbox and powerful engine, this Rolls-Royce is certainly very capable and splendidly opulent. An imposing motorcar, which wears fabulously unusual coachwork and retains many original details.
1936 Singer Le Mans Special Speed Transmission: manualMileage:Singers started as a bicycle maker and ventured as a motor manufacturer in 1905. They expanded and became the main challenger to MG in the thirties producing British Sporting cars. In the early 30's Singer designed a small two-seater sports the Nine with a 972 cc capacity engine. This proved successful and they went larger by producing the 1.5 litre six-cylinder triple carburettor car which could travel at 70 mph and was timed at 103 mph at Le Mans.Singer set up their own competition department in March 1933 and success followed including Le Mans, Brooklands, TT and RAC Rally with their 1.5 litre cars. Later they were a major player in the trials that were enormously important in the 1930's; London, Exeter, Lands End, London Edinburgh and the Scottish six-day trials. Aside from Singers sports car success, Betty Haig drove her 1.5 litre example to Berlin in 1936 and won the Olympic Rally and came home with an Olympic Gold medal! This wonderfully restored example of the iconic Singer Le Mans Special Speed boasts its original 1.5 litre six-cylinder engine and is one of only 71 examples ever built. Offered in very good order throughout the Singer is presented in black coachwork with black wire wheels over an interior which boasts black leather seats and carpets and a wooden dashboard, and benefits from two spare wheels with fitted tyres mounted at the rear. Previously the subject of an extensive restoration the Singer has more recently been treated to significant engine work and is reported by the vendor to be in excellent running order, and indeed on our inspection the engine fired up on first turn and sounded fantastic! Accompanying the car is a sizeable history file including copies of the original sales specifications, recent invoices, photographs during a race meeting in period, and photographs of the restoration process. In very good condition throughout the Le Mans Special Speed is eligible for many motorsport events including the Flying Scotsman and the Le Mans Classic and can also be enjoyed on the open road! 1953 Austin A40 Sport Transmission: manualMileage:The Austin A40 Sports debuted at the 1949 London Motor Show at Earls Court as a four-passenger, aluminium-bodied convertible variant of the Austin A40 carrying an Austin of England nameplate, bearing Austin's Flying A hood ornament, and designed and manufactured in conjunction with Jensen Motors. Production of the A40 Sports, which was intended as a sporty touring car rather than a true sports car began in November 1950 for model year 1951. By the time production ended in 1953, just over 4,000 had been manufactured. This lovely example was first registered on 11th of May 1953, some 70 years ago. Presented in white with a black hood, contrasting red trim with white piping, this 1200cc sports convertible presents very well and is a great running example of 50's sports touring. 1953 was the final production year for the A40 Sport and our vendor has cherished the four-seat convertible and expressed it puts a smile not only on his face when driving but on that of people that he sees. The aluminium body makes this a surprisingly sprightly example which is a great summer classic and offers that iconic 50's style. Consignor Mathew Priddy
1989 Audi Quattro Turbo Transmission: manualMileage:82393The Audi Quattro is one of the most significant cars of the post-war era. The initial plan was to build just 400 for motorsport homologation, but due to strong demand the Quattro went into full production and the first left hand drive versions were available in the UK in the Spring of 1981, with right hand drive following in the Autumn of 1982. The first cars are easily identifiable by their twin headlamps, six-inch Ronal wheels (seven-inch Fuchs as options) and black boot spoilers. The engine was a turbo charged version of the fuel injected 2144cc five-cylinder engine which originally produced 200bhp and a massive 210 lb of torque. This phenomenal power would take the car to 60mph in 6.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 140 mph. The four-wheel drive transmission's ability to provide traction in all conditions meant that the car rewrote the rule book in terms of road holding and acceleration. The example we have here is a 2,226cc 'MB' engine example, which our vendor has owned for 24 years and has clearly been very well cared for throughout its life. The car went through a thorough recommissioning process following a stint of around 11 years in storage between 2011 and 2022. The work undertaken included a cambelt change, full service, clutch master cylinder, boot struts and various other small jobs. The fuel pressure regulator was also refurbished around the same time. The car presents in excellent condition throughout, the paint retains a great shine and the interior shows no sign of excessive wear and is commensurate with the low mileage the car has covered. The only modification we are aware of is a stainless steel exhaust, which is quite a common change as the original parts have become harder and harder to source. The exhaust still offers a subtle tone but lets the five-cylinder engine, which these cars are so famous for, sing. This Quattro is supplied with an excellent service history, showing 12 stamps in the service book up to 2002 at 78,000 miles, with a further six service invoices since then. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find well-cared for Quattro Turbo's without 'moon mileage' and this example certainly ticks all the boxes. Supplied with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate and an excellent history going right back to day one. Consignor Fraser Smith
1991 Mercedes-Benz 300 GES Transmission: manualMileage:156738The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz vehicles in their history with a span of 32 years. It was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres and wheel arches. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking and a tachometer became standard. This very well presented manual transmission example is offered in its original colour combination of Astra Metallic Silver over a black leather interior and looks excellent having been treated to much restoration and maintenance work in recent years. Over £15,000 was spent including a 'windows out' respray and more recently the G-Wagon was treated to a set of new tyres all round. As such the G-Wagon presents in very good condition throughout. The paintwork is excellent and the interior including the headlining and carpets are presented in very good condition. Offered with a history file including photos of the comprehensive respray, many sundry bills, invoices for various works, many previous MoT test certificates, the current UK registration document and an MoT valid until June 2024. This is one of the best examples we have seen and having been maintained and restored to such a level we are sure it will be keenly contested at auction.
1968 Jaguar 340 to Fast Road Specification (3.8 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:93500Synonymous with the swinging 60s and the hit TV Series Inspector Morse, the Mk. II was undoubtedly the most admired saloon to emanate from Jaguar's hallowed Browns Lane factory. Featuring notably slimmer roof pillars than its Mk. I predecessor, the immortal Mk. II was as airy on the inside as it was elegant on the outside. The interior was quintessentially British with its sumptuous leather-covered seats, polished wood facia and door cappings, extensive instrumentation and impressive row of auxiliary toggle switches. These cars punched well above their weight. Equipped with either a 3.4 or 3.8 litre engine, the Jaguar was capable of sprinting to 60mph in as little as 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph, small wonder that it was the first choice of both bank robbers and the police of the period! The Jaguar 240 and 340 were introduced in 1967 and were produced until 1969, before the Mk. II was discontinued and a completely new model was introduced, the XJ6. The shell was the same but the automatic gearbox was upgraded. And finally, always a tell-tale sign smaller thinner bumpers were fitted. The Jaguar 340 we have here is far from a standard car, our vendor set out to build this ultimate Jaguar Mk. II around eight years ago with a truly 'money no object' approach. The aim was to build a tastefully modified car with modern improvements and a focus on modern day use with the option to perform some spirited driving, when the time was right. The total build cost was around £40,000 at the time, which of course would be a significantly higher figure today and makes this a very hard car to replicate. The original 3.4-litre engine has been replaced with a 3.8-litre unit, fitted with straight port E-type cylinder head, 300 degree duration camshafts, twin HD8 carburettors, six branch stainless steel exhaust manifold, electronic ignition, high flow oil pump, high torque starter motor and 10€ clutch with lightened flywheel. In all, the engine is said to perform exceedingly well and our vendor felt it was the perfect specification for road use, offering excellent torque and peak power. The gearbox is five-speed Getrag 265 unit with 3.31:1 diff ratio, again a wonderful setup for modern day road use. Stopping power comes in the form of four pot E-type front calipers with ventilated disc brakes, the rear brakes are uprated with two pot XJ6 rear calipers. Power assisted rack and pinion steering has been fitted, giving much better steering feel and useability. Last but not least, an uprated alternator has been fitted with aluminium pulleys to keep everything in check. The metallic grey bodywork presents in excellent order with fantastic shut lines and straight panels. Jaguar Mk. II larger chrome bumpers have been fitted, making the car virtually identical to an earlier Mk. II visually. Moving inside, the cabin has been trimmed in beautiful high quality red leather, presenting in superb order and walnut veneer throughout. The car has only covered around 3,000 miles since being completed and is now available for a fraction of the build cost alone. It is ideal for those who want a Jaguar Mk. II to drive and enjoy without the limitations of 1960's engineering, which can hold these cars back somewhat in standard form.
2014 Bentley Mulsanne V8 MDS Transmission: automaticMileage:27543The Bentley Mulsanne is named after the Mulsanne Straight of the Le Mans racing circuit, Bentley cars having won six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the past. Bentley brought back the Mulsanne nameplate that was last used in 1992; this model replaces the hugely successful Arnage and was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2009. In keeping with the Arnage, the Mulsanne retained the 6750cc, V8 power unit, the engine was lighter and featured cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing to improve fuel efficiency. It was the first flagship car to be independently designed by Bentley Motors in nearly 80 years; the last being W.O. Bentley's 8 litre model in 1930.This superb low mileage example of the fabulous model is presented in dark grey metallic with light cream/white leather interior. This car is fully loaded with all the extras the factory could offer which includes TV screens to the headrests, privacy windows, diamond stitching to the leather upholstery, glass sunroof, Sat nav, air conditioning etc. The condition of this Bentley is exemplary and the ride quality is sublime, matched with its powerful 6.7 litre engine, makes for a wonderful touring saloon. The car comes with full Bentley history and the vendor is retaining his private registration and a new V5 has been applied for which should arrive by the time of the auction but its new registration has been allocated as stated. Consigned by James Good.
1949 Bentley Mk. VI Special by Geoffrey Shrive Transmission: manualMileage:19600The Bentley Mk. VI was the first post-war luxury car from Bentley, produced from 1946 to 1952. It was also the first car from Rolls-Royce with factory coachwork although the chassis were still also supplied to independent coachbuilders. The chassis and engine went on to be used as the basis of those in the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1946 and Silver Dawn of 1949. The factory bodies were made by Pressed Steel Ltd of Coventry and sent to the Bentley works at Crewe for painting and fitting out with traditional wood and leather.Manufactured in 1949 this Bentley Special is one of 33 cars modified by Geoffrey Shrive in Harlington during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Most of the Shrive Specials went to the U.S. however this example found its way to Scotland where it remained until a couple of years ago. The current vendor commissioned a respray on the car and the fitment of new wet weather gear. Presenting now in blue coachwork with black interior and sitting proudly on wire wheels, the proportions of this Mk. VI Special are very good making this a very handsome car. We are advised the 4¼ litre engine starts on the button and runs very well. The gearbox operates as it should and this Bentley offers brisk performance, particularly taking into account it is 75 years old. This is a very elegant Mk. VI Special, manufactured by the most famous marque in the world.
2010 Aston Martin Rapide Transmission: automaticMileage:23223The Rapide is a four-door, four-seater, high-performance sports saloon, which Aston Martin introduced in early 2010. It was first presented as a concept car at the North American International Auto Show in 2006 and the production version was shown at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Rapide name is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a four-door, four-seater saloon produced by Lagonda, now a part of Aston Martin. The new Rapide is the company's first four-door fastback saloon since the Lagonda which was discontinued in 1990. It is based on the DB9 and underpinned by the Aston Martin VH platform. The first cars rolled off the production line in May 2010, initially built at a dedicated plant at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria.Originally registered on 16th October 2010 this Rapide presents in beautiful condition. The black coachwork is unmarked as is the cream leather interior. The first owner of this car was Sir Richard Olver who was the chairman of BAE Systems when this car was purchased new. He owned the car until 2021 when it was purchased by the current registered keeper. Having only covered 23,223 miles from new and with a detailed Aston Martin service history this Rapide presents in absolutely fabulous condition. Supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 7th February 2025, are you ready to go and enrol in the V12, four-seater gentleman's club! The Rapide is one of the most responsive and aesthetically pleasing saloons of the 21st century and it's coupled with one of the best-sounding 6.0 litre V12 engines money can buy. Consignor Stewart Banks.
2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI 'Tommi Makinen Edition' Transmission: manualMileage:93997By mid-1996, Mitsubishi's rallying success began to really reflect in Lancer Evolution sales. The 1996 World Rally Championship season brought Mitsubishi, a new driver, the blisteringly quick Finn named Tommi Makinen, and its first World Rally Championship drivers' title. By 1997, rallying had captured the imagination of people all over the world and Mitsubishi sold 6,000 Evolution IVs in the first three days of its launch! In the latter-half of 1999, Mitsubishi unleashed a special edition to celebrate its favourite drivers four consecutive WRC drivers' titles from 1996-1999, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI 'Tommi Makinen Edition' (TME). The Evolution VI was already a technological tour de force, but the TME had a more responsive titanium turbocharger, uprated and lowered suspension, quicker steering, a different exhaust, a new ECU, beefed-up transfer case internals, a redesigned front bumper for even better cooling and authentic 17€ WRC Enkei alloy wheels. Plus, there was a special interior, featuring embossed Recaro seats, a Momo steering wheel with red stitching. The performance upgrades saw the 0-60mph sprint obliterated in 4.4 seconds and a maximum top speed of 150 mph. Power was rumoured to be over 300bhp, rather than the 276bhp stated.Originally delivered to Japan this wonderful example has had just two owners from new. The first owner sold the Mitsubishi in 2014 when it was acquired by its one UK owner. Presented in white coachwork over a red and black interior, partially adorned with alcantara. Having been maintained to a high standard throughout its life and having covered a modest 93,997km, this example is offered to the open market in very good condition, the paintwork is showing some minor imperfections but is largely very good and it is reported by the vendor to drive very well indeed. Accompanying the Lancer is a sizeable history file including many invoices and sundry bills, the current UK registration document, many previous MoT test records, the original Japanese books, and a current MoT valid until May 2024. Consignor Daniel Godin
1987 Bentley Continental Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:45923The acquisition of Bentley Motors in 1998 by Volkswagen AG brought an end to an era of almost eight decades of cars built by Bentley. Mulliner Park Ward, the coachbuilding division of Rolls-Royce that built this model of the Continental, was also sold to Volkswagen AG and is now simply a personal commissioning department for the Bentley brand. The Continental Bentleys of this era are therefore not only examples of the last coachbuilt Bentley but also the last from Mulliner Park Ward. Only seventy seven examples were built comprising both the drophead convertible, such as this car, and its fixedhead coupé counterpart.Supplied new in July 1987 by main dealer Jack Barclay, this example is presented in Royal Blue coachwork over a dark blue piped, magnolia interior with a dark blue hood. Offered in excellent condition throughout the Bentley looks superb, the paintwork is in very good order and the interior is presented very well indeed, befitting of a car that shows a mere 45,923 miles on the odometer.Accompanying the Bentley is a sizeable history file including its full book pack. The service booklet shows that the Bentley was serviced annually by Jack Barclay for the first six years of its life at which point independent specialists took over. More recently the Continental has been serviced and maintained by The Chelsea Workshop with services every October from 2016 to 2021. Also included in the history file are MoT test certificates going back to its very first in 1990, with its most recent MoT valid until February 2025. Reported to run and drive very well indeed the Bentley runs and drives as it should and looks fantastic, ready to be enjoyed in the coming summer months this low mileage example offers superb value for money. 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT Transmission: manualMileage:21750The Dino, named in honour of Enzo Ferrari's son, was a brand for V6 engined Ferraris and the project that Alfredo 'Dino' Ferrari worked on before he died tragically of muscular dystrophy at just 24 years old. In order to homologate Ferrari's Formula Two entry in 1966, the FIA requested that 500 production cars were produced using the same V6 unit as the race car. The Fiat Dino was born using the two-litre V6 Ferrari unit which was later used in the early 206GT versions of the Dino. Ferrari used the mid-engined configuration that was working well for them in sports car racing for the new Dino and the prototype 206S was shown at the 1966 Turin show. The car drew a positive response and Ferrari put the car into production, making it the first mid-engined production Ferrari. A 2.4 litre version on a longer wheelbase, the 246GT, replaced the Dino 206 in late 1969. The beauty of a mid-engined sports car is the handling, as the improved centre of gravity lends itself to better road holding. A Ferrari Dino has great cornering ability and is an enormously fun car to drive. Our vendor purchased this example back in 1987 and has cherished it ever since. Work life and family life meant the car never got used as much as he originally intended, so it was stored away and used very sparingly over the years. The car spent around 20 years off the road from the mid 1990's, so in 2019 a thorough recommissioning process began. The work was entrusted to Modena Engineering, who from late 2019 until late 2023, went right through the car inspecting and replacing anything which had deteriorated whilst it was in storage. A total of £54,279 was spent and the car is now in fine fettle. The work began by draining and renewing all fluids, carrying out a compression test, carburettor strip down and refresh, replacement of all coolant hoses, fuel tank internal inspection, new fuel hoses, new spark plus and HT leads, ignition and fuel system checks, brake caliper overhauled, new water flow housing, a tidy up of unnecessary wiring from the car and lots of focus on wiring in general, four new brake discs and pads, new brake pipes, new headlamps, new exhaust manifold gaskets, new CV boots, new engine mounts, overhauled starter motor and alternator, re-chroming of bumpers, suspension inspection, new Koni shock absorbers, new bushes, suspension geometry setup, steering rack overhaul, new undertray, work to internal floor panel, outer floor sills, new gearbox sump gasket, gear change adjustment setup, timing chain tension adjustment, valve clearances checked and adjusted, new head studs, general engine bay tidy up where necessary with cam cover vapour blasted and returned to black, internal paint used for camshaft end plates and oil filler neck, new aluminium expansion tank, interior removed, floor panels cleaned, new underfelt fitted for floors and bulkhead, door lock and window adjustments and many many other small but labour intensive recommissioning jobs. The car is now supplied to auction in excellent condition, with what appears to be its original seats, excellent paint and the knowledge that an expert has recently been right through the car and it is now ready to be enjoyed. We do know that this car was originally built as a left hand drive example, delivered to its first owner in Italy, but has always been right hand drive during our vendor's ownership. The car is offered with a very attractive estimate for any Dino and will be supplied with a V5C registration document and twenty pages of invoices detailing the recent works undertaken. Consignor Fraser Smith
1965 Morris Mini Cooper S Mk. I (1275cc) Transmission: manualMileage:To many, its designer Alec Issigonis included, the notion that the Mini might have a future as anything other than basic transport was anathema, and the idea of a high-performance version was laughable. One man though, saw it quite differently. Racing car manufacturer John Cooper already knew quite a bit about tuning BMC's A-Series engine, he was running the company's Formula Junior effort at the time, and a test drive in a prototype Mini convinced him of the car's competition potential. The result, launched in September 1961, was the Mini Cooper, a car that offered a size/price/performance package that was nothing short of miraculous. The Mini Cooper soon established its credentials as a rally and race winner, and the stage was set for even faster versions. The first of these, the 1,071cc Mini Cooper 'S' of 1963, took engine development a stage further and provided the basis for the 971 'S' and 1275 'S' of 1964. Manufactured on 29th April 1965 this Mini spent its early years in Guernsey. It came back to the mainland in 1976 and was put into dry storage in 1980. The vendor, a very competent engineer, has extensively restored this Cooper S to a very high standard. The car was stripped and the bodyshell was completely refurbished using a rotisserie. It was painted in the original colour combination of Old English White with a black roof. New inner and outer sills have been fitted as has a new rear subframe. The 1275cc engine and gearbox have previously been rebuilt and the gearbox has straight-cut gears, the engine runs very well with good oil pressure. The brakes have been totally refurbished and the suspension has new Hydro lines fitted. New 4½ inch wheel rims have been fitted together with new tyres. Internally the headlining was replaced, the seats have been recovered, all to the original colour combination. The result of this extensive work is a Mini Cooper S Mk. I that is pristine in its presentation. The vendor has done very few miles since the rebuild and the car has only done 391 miles in the last 42 years. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a good history folder and a Heritage Certificate and presenting in delightful condition this 1275cc Mini Cooper S looks exceptional value especially given its rarity and wow factor. Consignor Stewart Banks. *Interested partes should note that this Mini has developed a problem with the steering rack & pinion. This will be rectified at the vendors expense prior to delivery to a new owner.
1970 Porsche 911T Transmission: manualMileage:The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won the 24 Hours Le Mans and other major sports car races outright against prototypes. The 911T was the first Porsche to receive the new Bosch K-Jetronic or CIS engine (Continuous Injection System) from January 1973 onwards. Often referred to as 1973 1/2, these T models produced 140bhp and also boasted the newer type standard H pattern (915) gearbox which, in tandem, provided a smooth yet powerful engine and proved great fun to drive. A contemporary Car and Driver extended road test concluded the base spec 911T was the better touring car, with the two fuel injected models being more difficult to handle in traffic and filled with mechanical noises. This stunning left hand drive, 1970 Porsche 911T coupé came off the production line in December 1969 and was first registered in Los Angeles, specified with an optional Blaupunkt stereo, leather steering wheel, and 911S oil tank and instruments. Owned for many years by a Mr Greg Craven in North Carolina, the 911 was imported to Europe in 2014 where it was the subject of a full body and mechanical restoration costing circa 50,000 euros, undertaken by Classic Car Services, under the watchful eye of Noel de Block, one of the leading classic car specialists in Belgium. The opportunity was taken to change the colour from burgundy, to the Porsche colour of ivory white. A full photographic record of the work that was undertaken can be seen on the Classic Car Services website (https://classic-car-service.be/porsche-911-t-karmann-coupe-1969/) and shows the high standard that it was completed to. Subsequently the Porsche was owned by Robert van Weelde, who amongst other things, played cricket for his home nation of the Netherlands! In the current vendors ownership, the 911 has been dry stored and resides in his private collection. The vendor reports that the original 2.2 litre engine offers plenty of power and the 911 drives very well indeed. In fantastic condition throughout the paintwork and interior are in very good order as is the engine bay, and underside. Maintained regardless of cost and following the extensive restoration this wonderful example is ready to enjoy. Offered with a history file including its current UK V5C registration document, previous MoT records, sundry bills, a photographic gallery of the restoration, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming that it retains its original engine. A desirable five speed manual example of the early Porsche 911, fabulously presented. Consignor Daniel Godin
2018 Jaguar I-Pace EV400 HSE ex HM King Charles III Transmission: automaticMileage:35000* Photo courtesy of €œMax Mumby/Indigo - Getty Images€Purchased by HM King Charles III in April 2018 this range topping EV400 HSE Jaguar I-Pace was not only Jaguars first foray into Electric cars but the first electric car supplied to the Royal Family, of course given his passion for the environment Prince Charles at the time was the first to add the car to his collection. Presented with the registration OY18 BVC and provided direct from Jaguar UK for his personal use, the car was as we understand initially in Eiger Grey, a popular colour for the 2018 year, however his majesty insisted the car must be in his favourite colour of Loire Blue thus it was returned to Jaguar for a colour change and remains the only I-Pace to be produced in this colour. Seen on footage we also can see that blue lights were installed likely by the JLR special vehicles department which is common with Royal Vehicles and can be seen in photos. We are informed that in its time with the Royal Household not only did Charles drive the car but also the Queen and other royals such as Megan Markle have been photographed being driven in the I-Pace. The Jaguar fast charger was installed at his official London residence, Clarence House and on many occasions the then Prince was photographed in the car with one specific occasion on September 15th 2018 arriving at the Royal Albert Hall, where there is a video of him on YouTube exiting out of the car with the number plate in full view as the car approaches. He was heard to reply to a shouted question that the car was 'silent but deadly'. Remaining in Royal ownership until December 2021 it was returned to Jaguar with a little under 3,000 miles on the clock, the registration number was removed (common practice with Royal cars) and age related OU18 VLW assigned before the car was offered for sale with Marshall Jaguar of Oxford, as per protocol, Jaguar didn't advertise its provenance but was made available for resale via the approved dealers. When our vendor saw the advert for a Eiger Grey I-Pace with the specification she desired she travelled to Oxford Jaguar but the details naturally had to be explained, notwithstanding the advert still held the production colour as JLR's system had not updated the specification and clearly this was in Blue not Grey. Not only was this unsurprisingly a 'fully loaded' I-Pace, it was in a colour she loved and with the added provenance that she would be driving around in Prince Charles' I-Pace it was not a difficult decision, however it is stressed this was a private purchase with no thought of future values but more of the amazing specification and buzz of owning an ex royal car! Having now owned the car and having maintained with Jaguar main dealers since 2020 this example is (less the blue lights) as it was in 2018, indeed it still retains a Jaguar Warranty until October this year, the mileage is little over 35,000 miles and the Light Oyster Windsor trim is in lovely condition throughout, just one former keeper on the logbook and has quite clearly been the pride and joy our lady owner and in full working order, even boasting a nice Jaguar bespoke fitted cover. Supplied with the V5 registration document, original purchase invoice from Marshall Jaguar this 294kW/90kWh example which has a full Jaguar service history and details of the extended warranty. Not only has this been owned by HM King Charles III, purchased with his own money but it was the first electric car owned by the Royal Family, the Jaguar I-Pace is also due to be discontinued before Jaguars all electric relaunch in 2025 so thus will become more collectable as a car in its own right. A pivotal moment in motoring is the seed change from combustion to electric vehicles and his ownership will long be thought of as a statement purchase by someone who has championed and been one of the world leading campaigners for climate change. Royal vehicles of such note usually see a significant uplift of over 4x the vehicles value so at this estimate looks like an incredible opportunity not only to own a piece of motoring heritage, nay history it could also be a fantastic future investment€¦â‚¬¦ Consignor Mathew Priddy*Interested parties should note the car was photographed/video'd with a cherished plate which has now been removed. The Royal Jaguar I-Pace Story; The Roya Jaguar i-Pace with Special Vehicles blue lights fitted*Interested parties should note that the private registration number has been removed and OU18 VLW assigned, we are awaiting the new V5 from the DVLA which will arrive shortly.
2012 Jaguar XKR Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:49150The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the XJ-S. Two body styles were produced, a coupé and a convertible and the car was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar's newly developed V8 engine. In 2000, the supercharged XKR was added to the range. This produced a staggering 503 horsepower, a subtle rear spoiler, wire mesh front grille and red exterior emblems were identifying features. The XKR's engine was made in England, the ignition system was from NGK in Japan, the transmission was a Mercedes-Benz 722.6, the lighting system was by Valeo in France and the supercharger was made by Eaton in the USA, it was truly a world car. The redesigned XK was styled by Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum of Aston Martin. The standard XK model has a limited top speed of 158mph whilst the XKR had a limited top speed of 174mph.First registered on 17th May 2012, this fantastic XKR was built towards the end of the XKR's production run. A desirable convertible model, this 174mph monster presents beautifully in black with black interior and has recently benefitted from having almost £3,000 spent on it with work including refurbishing and refitting the supercharger, replacing the gearbox oil cooler, replacing the timing chains, tensioners and guides, having the pedestrian sensors replaced as well as having a general service carried out. The mohair roof is in good condition and the roof mechanism reportedly works without fault. With five stamps in the service book, two of which are from main dealers and the recent expenditure, this clean late model example offers supercar thrills at a very reasonable price point, especially when one considered these cars cost £70,000 new! The vendor reports the car to run and drive very well with no issues and is only selling to downsize his collection.Supplied with a V5C registration document, valid MoT test certificate valid through September 2024, receipts and original stamped service book. So much car for the money and with such blistering performance and practicality as well, an opportunity not to be missed. Consigned by Will Penrose.
1989 Austin Mini Thirty Transmission: manualMileage:86650By the time the Mini celebrated its 30th anniversary it had already passed the remarkable production milestone of five million (achieved in 1986). Based on the Mini Mayfair and introduced in June 1989, the 'Thirty' was the most luxuriously equipped Mini Limited Edition model to date. Just two alternative paint schemes were offered - Cherry Red or black - featuring contrasting duo-tone coachlines and '1959-1989' decals and bonnet badge. Wheel arch extensions, door mirrors and sill covers were colour-matched to the body, chrome finish being reinstated for the grille, bumpers and door handles, while Minilite-style alloy wheels (soon to feature on the Mini Cooper) were a particularly handsome addition to the package. The 998cc engine could now run on unleaded petrol, and a catalytic converter was available as an option. 3,000 cars were built for the UK market, the colour split being 2,000 in Cherry Red, 1,000 in black. First registered on 1st August 1989 this mini 30 special edition is owned by Lady Judy McAlpine and is part of the McAlpine collection. Offered with an MoT until March 2024 after a light recommissioning the car has largely been stood for many years in the collection covering less than 1,000 miles since 2016 hence may need a little further attention if intended to be driven regularly. This 1275cc Mini 'Thirty' is finished in maroon with black trim with a red-piped leather interior, while other noteworthy features include a white wood-trimmed dashboard, a sunroof, alloy wheels and spot lamps to the front. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document, previous MoT certificates and described as being in good condition having been stored inside away from the elements. This rare example would grace any collection or make an ideal run-around and is offered without reserve. Consignor Mathew Priddy Guide Price £5,000-£10,000 *Interested parties should note the number plate shown is to be retained and a new, age-related registration issued instead. *Interested parties should note that this example still requires some recommissioning as the carburettor requires some attention. It is recommended that the car is trailered away.
1956 Bentley S1 Transmission: automaticMileage:18857Successor to the R-Type, the Bentley S1 was introduced in 1955 with a whole new chassis; the car's wheelbase had been extended 3 to 123, and the luggage compartment was expanded. The S1 had softer suspension than the R-Type, with electrically controlled rear shock absorbers. Brakes had been improved, and the steering was lighter. This model marked the final integration of Bentley with Rolls-Royce - the standard saloons were now entirely alike, but for grilles and badging. The British Magazine, the Motor reported a top speed of 103 mph and 0-60 acceleration of 13.1 seconds from a short-wheelbase S1 in 1957.Copies of the factory build sheets show that this Bentley S1 Sports Saloon left the works in March 1956. It is finished in dark green with a beige hide interior and was sold new via Murkett Bros Ltd of Bedford to first owner Sir Ronald Stewart, owner and Chairman of the London Brick Company. The DVLA records for this handsome Bentley show that a further seven owners have enjoyed the car. A Mr. Clasen of Eaton terrace was the owner between 1995 and 2007 during which time he spent over £27,000 servicing the car with marque specialists Frank Dale and Stepsons. Works included an engine rebuild in 2002 at 86,896 miles, a stainless steel exhaust, a rebuild of the rear axle and differential, a brake system overhaul and a front suspension rebuild. A subsequent owner had a Harvey Bailey handling kit fitted and in 2016 this striking British classic benefitted from new inner and outer sills, lower wing sections and some repairs to the rear chassis legs. Presented to auction with a V5c Registration document, lots of service receipts and in spite of exemption due to age, a valid MOT test certificate. Consigned by Dominic Lake.
2000 Bentley Arnage Red Label Transmission: automaticMileage:46678In 1998 the Bentley Arnage was launched, replacing the legendary Bentley Turbo. Built by Bentley Motors in Crewe from 1998 to 2009, the Arnage and its Rolls-Royce counterpart the Silver Seraph were introduced in the Spring of 1998 and were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The new Arnage was to be powered by a BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered twin-turbo chargers and was designated In the 'Arnage Green Label' and the Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine. Due to customer pressure regarding the engine, the far superior 'Arnage Red Label' was launched in October 1999 and the engine reverted back to the iconic Rolls-Royce derived 6.8-litre V8 power plant. This superb example is presented in silver with cream leather interior and blue piping. Its burr walnut interior is in superb condition as indeed is the leather and headlining. Air conditioning, electric seats and windows etc come as standard in this fabulous saloon and is powered by the mighty 6.8 litre V8 engine which provides more than enough power for touring abroad or here in the UK and has only covered a mere 46,678 from new which surmounts to just over 1900 miles per year and comes with Bentley and Bentley specialist service history.*Interested parties should note that the current image is a library image and a full photo shoot of the car will be uploaded shortly
1974 Lamborghini Urraco 250S Transmission: manualMileage:In the early '70s, the late Ferruccio Lamborghini had decided it was time to add a smaller model to the line-up that until then, only consisted of V12 engine cars. It was this decision that led to a V8 powered model being produced that was able to compete on the same level as the Ferrari Dino 246 or the Porsche 911, so, preliminary work began on a model that would become the Urraco. At the November 1970 Turin Auto Show, the first pre-production Urraco crafted by Marcello Gandini, designer of the Lamborghini Countach, went on display, showing off its handsome looks, angular frontage with pop-up headlights and large, wide opening doors. All-in-all a well-balanced car that, once you got to know it, was acknowledged as a true 'Raging Bull'. 1972 saw the improved two-door coupé, Urraco S introduced, utilising a full leather upholstery, powered windows that were now also tinted and an optional metallic paint coat available. The engine also received an update, and was fitted with new Weber 40 DCNF carburettors, capable of synchronous opening and high rates of flow making them ideal for highly tuned engines. This superb example of this rare Italian sports car is presented in Blue Tahiti with Senape leather/cloth interior. It was delivered from new to Achilli Motors in Italy and there is a Certificate from Lamborghini confirming the original car configuration (right hand drive) which is in the history file. The car was first registered in the UK in 1982 and was purchased by the present owner in 2008. The car benefits from air conditioning and electric windows and has been kept in long term, secure, dehumidified storage as part of a significant Italian car collection and used regularly. It has history going as far back as 1996 with specialists Colin Clarke and Emblem Sports Cars with a major service including cambelt change in 2017 at 15,843km with the current odometer reading 15,962 which is believed to be genuine. The owner has recently carried out a minor service, checkover and MoT which was done in February 2024. Everything works as it should we are informed and the car is featured in Landsem's 'The Lamborghini Urraco' and it comes with a fitted indoor car cover. A superb example of this sought after Italian marque which are becoming more difficult to find. Consigned by James Good.
2002 Porsche 911 / 996 Carrera 4 Transmission: automaticMileage:121239The Porsche 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model, manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its introduction in 1963, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high performance, four-valve-per-cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core.First registered on the 20th March 2002 and in Blue with Grey full leather this example was also specified with optional electric tilt and slide sunroof, sound package, rear parking assistance, Porsche CDR 32, soft look leather seats in interior colour and stainless steel door sills, all adding up to £2,176 of extras on top of the £61,611 list price. Having just four former keepers, this is a low owner example which boasts a comprehensive service history and a MoT which expires in May. The 996 has long been under appreciated but we think it's sure to be a future classic, the first water cooled 911, the only to deviate from the frog eye headlights and at this point fabulously affordable. This Tiptronic example is well maintained and presented and offered at a very attractive estimate for the Carrera 4 variant. Consignor Mathew Priddy
1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:32000The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954; Jaguar's first sports car since the SS100, which ceased production in 1940. The XK120 was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a sensation thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss William Lyons to put the car into production. The '120' in its name referred to its 120mph top speed which made the XK120 the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was available in two open versions; first as the roadster then also as a drophead coupé from 1953 and also as a closed, or 'fixedhead' coupé from 1951. With an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU carburettors, the double overhead-cam 3.4 litre straight-six XK engine was comparatively advanced for mass-produced units of its time. This same basic design of the XK engine, later modified into 3.8 litre and 4.2 litre versions, survived late into the 1980s.Manufactured in August 1950, this XK120 Roadster is one of the earliest XK's built in steel after the factory moved away from aluminium over an ash frame. Notable features indicating this as an early car include the separate chrome side lights, the lack of wing vents, the early 'studless' cam cover engine and tall carburettor dashpots. Built at the Browns Lane Jaguar factory in Coventry, the accompanying letter from Jaguar Heritage confirms that the car was sold directly and shipped to Brylaw Motors of Melbourne, Australia. The car remained in Australia up until the late 1980's when the owner, a Mr. Hall shipped the car back to the UK when his job for Coca-Cola took him from the South Pacific region to Europe. He later went on to become Vice President of Coca-Cola in Europe and presumably, this influenced the decision to move. The car boasts an impressive specification including a five-speed gearbox, telescopic shock absorber upgrade, polyurethane suspension bushes, aluminium fuel tank, electric Kenlow cooling fan, adjustable electric power steering, aluminium sports bucket seats, Brooklands wind deflectors, recessed Monza style fuel filler cap, bonnet strap and bonnet louvres. To add to all this, the car has also benefitted from recently being repainted to a high level in British Racing Green and retrimmed in tan leather. The vendor reports the car to run and drive very well and is only offered for sale to fund a new acquisition.Supplied with a V5C registration document and file of receipts amongst other information. The Roadster version of the beautiful XK120 has always been the most coveted of the XK120 line up and to find such an early car with subtle, but practical modifications is a rare find. 1989 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC €œFrom the Cheesbrough Collection€ Transmission: automaticMileage:177002The W126 was the flagship series for Mercedes-Benz. Debuted in September 1979 as the successor to the earlier W116 range, the W126 was the second generation to officially bear the S-Class name referring to Sonderklasse or 'special class'. The W126 was initially offered with straight-six, V8, and turbo diesel engine saloon cars but in September 1981, a two door coupé version of the W126 was introduced. Compared to its predecessor, the W126 was more aerodynamic, fuel efficient, capacious, and powerful. The W126 S-Class sported a new Mercedes-Benz design style which was subsequently used on other vehicles in the company's line-up. The W126 line also introduced many Mercedes-Benz safety innovations, including the first airbag supplemental restraint systems, seatbelt pre-tensioners and traction control system. This example of this iconic German coupé is presented in Obsidian black with beige leather interior. It comes with its original factory wallet containing the owner's handbook and service book with some stamps from previous servicing. This car's considerable history file contains old MoT test certificates and the present one which expires in May 2024, also the last invoice dated April 2023 from Autotechnics of Chichester who carried out a service for the late owner and a substantial amount of historical invoices showing work carried out over the years (some dating back 20 years ago). These cars were revered worldwide as the finest Mercedes-Benz on the market in 1989 and still show great presence today. Consigned by James Good.
1934 Chrysler Plymouth Deluxe Convertible Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:86718The 1934 Chrysler Plymouth Deluxe Convertible stands as a timeless icon of automotive elegance and innovation. Boasting sleek, art deco-inspired lines, these cars exude a sense of sophistication which defined an era. The convertible top, a marvel of engineering for its time, added an element of versatility and open-air freedom to the driving experience. Beneath the stylish exterior, the Plymouth Deluxe featured a robust 3.3-litre flathead inline six-cylinder engine, delivering an excellent balance of power and efficiency. Its comfortable interior, adorned with luxurious materials, showcased Chrysler's commitment to craftsmanship. The 1934 model marked a pivotal year in automotive design, as manufacturers embraced aerodynamics and streamlined aesthetics. The Chrysler Plymouth Deluxe Convertible remains a cherished relic of automotive history, celebrated for its blend of performance, style, and the spirit of a bygone era. This example presents in excellent condition, understood to be an older 1980's restoration, which has stood up to the test of time well. The car was first registered in the UK to a Mrs. Meadows in 1938, who would retain ownership of the car right through the war years until 1957. Mrs. Meadows is believed to have travelled to Norwalk, Connecticut by Steamship in 1938 to purchase this car, so it was evidently in enthusiast ownership since its very early years. Our vendor purchased the car in 2016 and has enjoyed it ever since, reporting it is a joy to drive and the rear rumble seat is always popular with his grandchildren. The car is supplied with a current V5C registration document, older buff logbooks, period owner's manuals and brochure and a handful of invoices. Presenting in a very attractive colour scheme of a light eggshell grey with red interior, this would make an excellent addition to any collection and you'd be very unlikely to bump into another one. Consignor Fraser Smith.
1985 Carbodies Taxi Transmission: automaticMileage:13536The London Taxi Company was a taxi design and manufacturing company based in Coventry, England. It formerly traded as London Taxis International and Carbodies. Over 130,000 London black cabs have been produced at the London Taxi Company's Coventry site over the past 60 years. Annual production averaged between 2,000 and 2,500 units per year. Around two-thirds of production went into London via a dealership in Islington. First registered on 20th August 1985 this taxi was ordered and coachbuilt from new for the late Lord Edwin McAlpine of Moffat. We are informed by Judy, Lady McAlpine that all the company Partners had a Carbodies Taxi at the time, each with added luxury such as velour seating, rear entertainment system and in this instance a cocktail cabinet. Presented in a metallic (McAlpine) green with complimentary velour trim, this will comfortably seat six with two jump seats in the rear and one to the passenger seat. Offered by Lady McAlpine, this example has been on static display with occasional use since 2006: it went to the Fat Duck in 2016 and to various vintage festivals run by Lady McAlpine and although running and driving, may need some further recommissioning should you wish to use on the road. Practicality and provenance, this is an iconic slice of History. Consignor Mathew Priddy Guide Price £6,000-£10,000 *Interested parties should note this lot requires recommissioning, we believe old fuel has been pulled through and thus although we have had the Taxi running it will require some mechanical attention and trailering away by the successful bidder.
1959 Borgward Isabella Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:61090The Borgward Isabella Coupé stands as a captivating emblem of mid-century automotive design, exuding an elegant charm that has stood the test of time. Manufactured by the German automaker Borgward, the Isabella Coupé made its debut in an era marked by the pursuit of innovation and style. Boasting a distinctive two-door body, the coupé encapsulates the essence of European automotive aesthetics in the late 1950s. The car's exterior is a harmonious blend of curves and angles, with a graceful roofline that flows seamlessly into the rear wings. The chrome accents adorning the front grille and bumpers add a touch of sophistication, while the sleek, aerodynamic profile reflects the influence of the emerging space-age design trends of the time. Under the bonnet, the Isabella Coupé housed a robust four-cylinder engine, delivering a balance of performance and efficiency. The car's driving experience was characterized by a smooth suspension, making it a comfortable cruiser on both city streets and open roads. Inside the cabin, the attention to detail is evident in the carefully crafted dashboard and stylish instrumentation. The seats are designed for comfort, and the overall interior exudes a sense of refinement that complements the car's exterior aesthetics.Originally registered on 31st December 1959 this two-door coupé presents in delightful condition. The two-tone paintwork is in good order as is the grey interior. Little is known of the car for the first 40 years of its life however, it was rebuilt in 2000. The registration number of 6336 N appears to have been on the car from new and according to HPI records the car has had just three former keepers. Photographic evidence of the rebuild is available in the history folder. The car also benefits from 123 electronic ignition, a new starter motor, and rebuilt carburettors, a recent service and five new tyres. Presenting in right hand drive format, this Borgward has clearly been very well cared for in recent years and thoroughly enjoyed by the current vendor. With body styling reminiscent of a Karmann Ghia and an interior that features great ergonomics and retro-style instrumentation, it is easy to see why this Borgward represents a bygone era when automotive design was marked by a fusion of style and engineering prowess. Today, this classic beauty remains a sought-after collector's item, embodying the timeless allure of 1950s automotive craftsmanship.
1950 Alvis TB14 Transmission: manualMileage:41338A sensation when first shown at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1948, the streamlined TB14 sportscar was an unlikely stablemate for the sober and conventional TA14 saloon on which it was based. Alvis' contract with coachbuilder A P Metalcraft called for an initial run of 100 cars, and in the event this was all that was ever made, the Jaguar XK120's simultaneous arrival on the home market at a slightly lower price rendering the TB14 un-competitive overnight. This example is one of the rarest of post-war Alvis models which was acquired by our vendor in early 2018 and imported from Belgium, returned back to UK plates this car was first registered on 15th September 1950. A stunning restored example cream coachwork with well appointed deep red trim which shows the lines of this Alvis roadster beautifully, the car started very well and run without skipping a beat on inspection, testament to recent mechanical work our vendor had commissioned Spencer Lane-Jones ltd to complete, a full detailed recommissioning was completed late in 2018 with the invoices in the history file surmounting to £5,294. Supplied with the UK V5C registration document, shipping and import papers, recent invoices and Vintage Alvis books. This is a rare and collectable Alvis in fabulous order and viewing is recommended. 1961 Land Rover Series II 109" Transmission: manualMileage:41117The successor to the successful Series I was the Series II, which saw a production run from 1958 to 1961. It came in 88 (2,200mm) and 109 (2,800mm) wheelbases. This was the first Land Rover to receive the attention of Rover's styling department, their chief stylist David Bache produced the familiar 'barrel side' waistline to cover the vehicle's wider track and the improved design of the truck cab variant, introducing the curved side windows and rounded roof still used on current Land Rovers. The Series II was the first vehicle to use the well-known 2.25 litre petrol engine, although the first 1,500 or so short wheelbase models retained the 52hp (39kW) 2.0 litre petrol engine from the Series I. This larger petrol engine produced 72hp (54kW) and was closely related to the 2.0 litre diesel unit still in use. This engine became the standard Land Rover unit until the mid-1980s when diesel engines became more popular. First registered on 24th August 1961 and delivered new to James Haywood Creswell of Watford, the car was acquired in 1963 by the late Malcolm Saul, who became the third owner until his death in 2015. Throughout his tenure of some 52 years, this Land Rover had been fully maintained with a significant file of papers to substantiate ownership history. The current vendor informs us that the braking system has benefitted from a complete overhaul and describes the paint and engine to be in good condition with the interior having been sympathetically re-upholstered. A highly usable and charming Land Rover with lovely ownership history, this rare and highly collectable Series II 109 would be equally at home pressed into service on a country estate or simply preserved in a collection. Not be mistaken for the more common Series IIA, this model was only in production for three years and to find one in such condition is a rare treat indeed. 1984 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit Transmission: automaticMileage:34235The Silver Spirit was unveiled in October 1980 as a replacement for the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Direct comparison, however, showed only small differences. The new models had slightly grown in length and width; height had been cut a little, although the styling was more modern than that of its predecessor. The interior was dominated by the expected combination of fine wood and sumptuous leather. The Silver Spirit was similar mechanically to the Silver Shadow, benefiting from the superb Rolls-Royce 6,750cc, V8 and sharing many mechanical characteristics of the model it replaced. The instruments were supplemented by digital units which gave such information as the time, elapsed driving time and external temperature and were the first Rolls-Royce to be fitted with a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. This Silver Spirit has been in the care of our vendors family since 1993, in which time it has clearly been cherished as it presents in excellent order throughout. The appearance of the car was boosted even further, following a full respray in 2023, which totalled nearly £8,000. The interior is a wonderful place to be, the Magnolia leather interior is in excellent order, as is the wooden trim which adorns the dashboard and door cappings. The car has been maintained well throughout its life, with the most recent service being carried out in February 2023, the car has only covered a handful of miles since. The odometer was replaced by H.R. Owen in May 1986, by which point the car had covered 10,086 miles. That coupled with the current odometer reading, would give a total mileage of less than 45,000 miles, remarkably low for a nearly 40 year old car. This Silver Spirit is offered to auction with a V5C registration document and a history file containing invoices for various works and maintenance carried out over the years. Consignor Fraser Smith
1969 Ford Cortina Mk.II 1600E Transmission: manualMileage:40948The second incarnation of the Cortina was designed by Roy Haynes and was launched on 18th October 1966. One of the best loved versions of that Cortina appeared in 1967, the 1600E, which was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October of that year. The mechanical specification included an 88bhp, 1600cc Cortina GT engine which achieved a fuel consumption of 25 miles per gallon. The 1600E interior came equally well equipped and included special rear bucket seats, reclining front seats, sports steering wheel, extra instruments and wood trim. Production ended in 1970 and, despite attempts at reviving the idea of an 'Executive' version of other, later models, Ford never recaptured the original feel of the Cortina Mk. II based 1600E. For 1969, the Mk. II model was given subtle revisions with separate 'FORD' block letters mounted on the bonnet and boot lid, a blacked-out grille and chrome strips above and below the rear lights running the full width of the rear panel on the Series II.This fabulous example of the much loved 1600E is presented in white with black well-kept trim both surmountable with the age and mileage. First registered on 6th March 1969 to the original owner who was a lady in Dorset and we are informed that this car spent much of its life as a local runabout before slowly becoming resigned to the garage as a new car took over. After a few years and looking sorry for itself, we believe the owner decided to trade it to a local garage, naturally they didn't register it to themselves and decided to clean, service and give it a new lick of paint, once completed they then put it on the forecourt where by chance the lady owner drove past and saw it, fell in love all over again and insisted she purchased it back! Back in her ownership where it remained until 2012, when in her older years the car had to be sold to our now owner and enthusiast. Naturally for a period of its life, the car had been in little or at best, local use, so the mileage is incredibly low for a 54 year old car and in the history file is a letter from the original owner warranting the mileage on the 1st October 2013 coupled to original service and handbooks and sales brochure. More recently the car has undergone a full recommissioning and service which included new hoses, clutch master and slave cylinder, a full service and fully recommissioned brakes for which invoices can also be found in the history file. Consignor Mathew Priddy.
1988 MG Metro Transmission: manualMileage:19279The MG Metro was introduced in May 1982 some 18 months after the closure of the MG factory at Abingdon. MG's first attempt at the then new 'hot hatch' era, it was the perception of many manufacturers that most car buyers were concerned, open top two seat sports cars were something from the past. The MG Metro boasted some quite positive features for the day including the standard use of powerful servo assisted brakes using four-pot calipers up front, very competitive performance and superb economy courtesy of the responsive and well proven A+ series engine. With around 120,000 made between 1982 and 1990, most are of the facelift variant launched in October 1984 where the bonnet line was lowered and streamlined, and a new interior and dash moulding was introduced. This lovely, rust free 1988 MG Metro is completely original and is believed to have covered less than 20,000 miles from new, this would seem to be correct by its lovely condition and the MoT history going back to 2006. Finished in black with the original side decals and grey cloth seats it has the correct red carpets and seat belts. This MG Metro is supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2025. This is an iconic car which is being offered at no reserve. Price guide £6,000-£9,000. Consignor John Tomlin.
1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 Fixedhead Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:67428Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type was nothing short of a revelation. With its heady blend of supercar performance, breathtaking styling and low price tag, the newcomer left rivals reeling and customers clamouring. Early sportscar racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's combination of all-round independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding and handling capabilities. The Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 was designed to be a more practical version of the legendary E-Type, with a longer wheelbase and additional interior space. It was produced from 1966 to 1967, and it featured a 4.2 litre inline-six engine that produced 265 horsepower. One of the most notable features of the Jaguar E-Type Series I 2+2 is its sleek and timeless design. The car has a long, flowing hood and a low-slung profile that gives it a sense of speed and power. The body of the car is made of lightweight aluminium, which helps to reduce its overall weight and improve its performance. This example presented in a shade of British racing green was first registered in 1967 and shipped to the US in Green where we believe it spent most of its live bathing in the California sun. Imported in 1991 the car was subject to a full body restoration and conversion to right hand drive in 1996/97. The car was stripped to the chassis, had the 4.2 litre engine fully rebuilt and was fully retrimmed to a very high standards all of which can be seen in a workbook of photos detailing the start through to the finish. Now red the car has remained continuously on the road but in 2007 it was decided a colour change was desired by the then owner back to its original colour, after consideration the red coachwork which was looking tired was changed to a deep shade of British Racing Green a colour that suits the car well and softens the lines of the more practical 2+2 body. Practicality was a reason for our vendors purchase in 2020, at 6ft 6 his desire for a series I E-type had to be matched by the body that allowed him to fit in€¦. the 2+2 is perfect for this accommodating the taller gentleman or lady and thus enabling a dream purchase to come true. Since his purchase the car has been in his words a fabulous drivers example and maintained regardless of cost while sat next to his Alvis. Maintained by Frampton Garage the car has recently had a new fuel tank and just a few years ago gad a new clutch and flywheel, starter motor and a new electronic fuel pump, it has also just been treated for a new owners confidence to an MoT certificate. Offered with a photographic restoration booklet, countless invoices and recent invoices and MoT's coupled to the V5 registration document. A true drivers car, practical especially for those taller but equally with more space will carry four comfortably and has that desirable series 1 design coupled to the 4.2 litre engine. An older restoration that is in very good usable condition, presenting well this is a get in and drive car€¦.so get in and drive! Consignor Mathew PriddyInterested parties should note that this example is an Original California car converted to a manual right hand drive example.
1988 Porsche 944 Turbo SE Transmission: manualMileage:91684The Porsche 944 was built from 1982 to 1991 and was built on the same platform as the 924. It was intended to last into the 1990's but major revisions planned for a 944 S3 model were eventually rolled into the 968 instead which replaced the 944. In 1988, Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo S with a more powerful engine 250bhp 258 lb‹…ft of torque at 4,000rpm. This higher output was achieved by using a larger KKK K26-8 turbocharger housing and revised engine mapping which allowed maintaining maximum boost until 5800rpm, top speed was factory rated at 162mph. The post 1985 cars, turbos and S variants are considered more desirable than the earlier cars, having improved interiors, suspensions and engines, together with a limited slip differential and larger brakes. The example we have here is believed to be one of only 70 UK supplied Turbo SE derivatives and is believed to possibly be unique in its specification of Guard Red with Beige Porsche script interior and no sunroof. The Turbo SE is equipped with 'M030' sports suspension, uprated brakes and 'M220' limited slip differential, meaning it is truly built for the drivers and offers far better handling than a regular Turbo. The car has had ludicrous amounts of money spent on it in recent years, the previous owner spent £19,841 at Porsche Hatfield in July 2021! The work undertaken was quite clearly very extensive and amounts to 10 pages of invoices, including a brand new steering rack, new brakes, new exhaust muffler and many more Porsche parts, the final total would suggest they were told to go right through the car and make sure it was 'spot on'. The engine had a rebuild in 2017 due to some damage found on the cylinder head due to a head gasket failure, which resulted in the decision to carry out a rebuild which totalled £11,600! Less than 10,000 miles have been covered since. Our vendor is the MD of a very highly regarded bodyshop and he had his team strip the car right down and carry out a full respray to a very high standard, as his intention was to keep the car for a long period of time, but circumstances have since changed. As a result, the car now presents in excellent order throughout and the exterior is very hard to fault, the work carried out totalled circa £15,000. The interior is likely all original and is in excellent shape, with some minor wear to the drivers seat base bolster, but nothing which would cause too much stress. The car was recorded as a Category C in 1998, when values would have been particularly low. The vendor said that during the strip down and re-paint, they found that a repair had previously been made to the rear left corner of the car, which looked to have been carried out to a high standard in the first place. The team made sure the car was all straight and correct and with all of the money that has been lavished upon this car in recent years, it's distant past becomes largely forgotten and the car is now one which can be used and enjoyed safe in the knowledge that almost every area has been attended to in the not so distant past. Supplied with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate and a comprehensive history folder, this exceedingly rare Porsche is offered with no reserve and should not be missed. 2003 Bentley Arnage R Transmission: automaticMileage:5223In 1998 the Bentley Arnage was launched, replacing the legendary Bentley Turbo. This superb low mileage example is presented in dark blue with cream leather interior, dark blue carpets and burr walnut. It comes with a full Bentley history, all Bentley handbooks, a car cover and its overall condition is commensurate with its incredible low mileage. The car comes with all the usual luxuries Bentley bestow upon such a model, air conditioning, electric seats and electric windows. A rare opportunity to purchase one of the finest Bentleys of its era with unmatchable low mileage. Its interior and exterior look superb and buyers please note that the present private registration is being retained by the present owner and new age related registration will be assigned to the car via the DVLA.
1956 Jaguar XK140 Fixedhead Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:16419The Jaguar XK140 SE Fixedhead Coupé was a sports car produced by Jaguar Cars between 1954 and 1957. It was an updated version of the previous model the XK120, with several improvements including more interior space, improved brakes and steering, and a revised suspension system. The SE version was even more powerful, with a C-type cylinder head and dual exhaust system, producing 210bhp. The XK140 SE Fixedhead Coupé was a stunning car to look at, with its sleek and aerodynamic design. It featured a long bonnet, flowing wings, and a curved roofline that gave it a sporty and elegant look. The interior was equally impressive, with leather seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a stylish dashboard. With its powerful engine and agile handling, the XK140 SE Fixedhead Coupé was a joy to drive. It could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around eight seconds and had a top speed of 125 mph, making it one of the fastest cars of its time. It was also a comfortable and refined car to drive, with a smooth ride and excellent noise insulation. This loverly Jaguar XK140 Fixedhead Coupé was first registered on the 22nd June 1956. The car was originally painted in Pearl Grey, as confirmed in the original buff log book. The car has been subject to a couple of cosmetic restorations and 'Special Equipment' upgrades including knock-on wire wheels, twin fog lamps and windscreen washers, the car is also fitted with a dual exhaust system. The unique feature of this XK140 by far is the non-factory sunroof that would have been fitted shortly after the car was built. This is an exceptionally rare, period modification to be found on XK`s and we are told is waterproof! Many enthusiasts have pointed out that they have never seen such a sunroof in metal on a XK140 and only one ever on a XK150. The car has a vast history file with invoices dating back to 1987. A bare metal respray to red was carried out on the car in 2003 totalling around £42,500 and there are photographs on file showing this process. The car was then most recently restored again in 2017 to return the car to it's original specification, being painted Pearl grey and an expensive retrim in blue leather. The car has benefitted from continuous expenditure on it in the last 30 years on top of these restorations, the latest carried out in late 2023 when the rear brakes were overhauled, and the front brakes uprated to disc brakes. A delightful car offering the best of both worlds with almost open-air motoring for those summer days and closed for those chilly autumnal days.
1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Transmission: automaticMileage:120327The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury saloon car built from 1965 through to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. The original Shadow was three and a half inches narrower and seven inches shorter than its predecessor, the Silver Cloud, but managed to offer increased passenger and luggage space thanks to more efficient packaging. Aside from a more modern appearance and construction, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes replacing drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the ageing live axle design of previous models. It featured a 189bhp 6.75 litre V8 engine from 1970 onwards, mated to a Turbo Hydromantic 400 transmission supplied by General Motors. The superb ride quality achieved in the Shadow was thanks to the innovative high-pressure hydraulic system with dual circuit braking and hydraulic self-levelling suspension.Boasting 15 service stamps in its original service book, the wonderful Silver Shadow II offered here was first registered on 16th February 1979. Looking distinguished in dark red, the car presents beautifully showing only the odd blemish in its paintwork. Whilst given a Category C insurance loss after an accident in 2007, the then owner decided to have their pride and joy repaired themselves and returned to the road. Once the work was completed, they had the car inspected by VOSA in 2008 at which time the vehicle was given a VIC Pass, confirming that all the damage had been repaired properly and that the car was roadworthy and repaired to factory condition. The vendor had the car inspected and serviced by renowned Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist Michael Hibberd in May 2019. Spending £11,000 there, the vendor made sure not to leave any stone unturned. With all of this work having been carried out only 2,000 miles ago, it is no surprise that the vendor reports the car to run and drive very well and is incredibly smooth. Upgraded with a discreet stereo system, you can now use your mobile telephone handsfree whilst driving. An added benefit of course, is that this 6.75 litre beauty is ULEZ exempt.Supplied with a V5C registration document, valid MoT test certificate, receipts and original stamped service book and handbook. Providing excellent value, these handsome luxury saloons provide huge value for money. Consigned by Will Penrose.Guide Price: £8,000-£10,000
1977 Rover 3500 Transmission: automaticMileage:1674The P6 was announced on 9 October 1963, just before the Earls Court Motor Show. The vehicle was marketed first as the Rover 2000 and was a complete 'clean sheet' design intended to appeal to a larger number of buyers than earlier models such as the P4 it replaced. The 3500 was introduced in April 1968 (one year after the Rover company was purchased by Triumph's owner, Leyland) and continued to be offered until 1977. The manufacturer asserted that the light metal V8 engine weighed the same as the four-cylinder unit of the Rover 2000, and the more powerful car's maximum speed of 114 mph as well as its 10.5-second acceleration time from 0-60 mph were considered impressive, and usefully faster than most of the cars of this price and specifications. In comparison, tested by Motor magazine in the issue published on 20 April 1968, it achieved a maximum speed of 117 mph, 0-60 mph in 9.5secs, with a standing quarter mile in 17.6 seconds. We are informed that this late example was used by the diplomatic protection wing of the Metropolitan Police force and retains its two-tone sirens, lights and switches as well as being presented with various Police paperwork including incident notebooks and even the Radio Telephone instruction book. This rare example is in good order throughout and has been dry stored during our vendors tenure. Offered to auction with a V5c registration document and various bills and receipts this piece of automotive history deserves further inspection. Consigned by Dominic Lake
1986 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:78500The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300 SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116) and has become a benchmark of quality throughout the years. This lovely example of this iconic and sought after model is presented in blue/black metallic with cream leather interior. The car had been dry stored for a period of about 10 years previous to our vendor's purchase about five years ago. It has recently been resprayed and the invoice for this can be seen in the history file, as can the car's MoT history. It comes with a black hood which is in good condition we are informed and this is one of the most sought after being powered by the mighty 5.0 litre V8 giving smooth performance as Mercedes-Benz cars are well known for.
1981 Porsche 911 SC Sport Targa Transmission: manualMileage:75918Starting in 1978, the new 3.0 litre 911 SC was the second generation basic 911 model. It was in effect a Carrera 3 (known as a 911S in the United States) detuned to provide 180 bhp. The 'SC' designation was reintroduced by Porsche for the first time since the 356 SC as distinguished from the race-engine 356 Carrera. No Carrera versions were produced and the 930 Turbo remained at the top of the range. Porsche's engineers felt that the weight of the extra luxury, safety and emissions equipment on these cars was blunting performance compared to the earlier, lighter cars with the same power output, so in non-US cars, power was increased to 185 hp for 1980, then finally to 201 hp. However, cars sold in the US market retained their lower-compression 180 hp engines throughout. This enabled them to be run on lower-octane fuel but made them less desirable, indeed SC's sold in the UK could be also specified with a desirable Sport Group Package which added stiffer suspension, the rear spoiler, front rubber lip and black Fuchs wheels. A quite incredible find, this 1981 example of the desirable Sport optioned 911 SC Targa has been with the owner and our vendor since 1985 when he purchased it from the second owner via No5 Garage in W12 London as found in the invoices and original sticker in the rear window. First registered on 12th June and finished in black on black with the important original Fuchs wheels (including spare) and iconic whale tale. When purchased in 1985 after a search for the desired colour combination and sport specification the car had covered a lofty 56,000 miles, over the next decade our vendor, working in sales in London, enjoyed the trappings of the 'yuppy' lifestyle with oversized mobile phones and big bonuses one of which when he won he decided to retrim the houndstooth trim (sadly) with an 80's retro style presented today. As years went by the racy 911 was replaced by a luxury Lexus (found next to the 911 in the barn) but the Targa remained his pride and joy, memory of his early success. As the car became the garage queen but regularly used and serviced the mileage declined and over the last decade, although regularly started, it had found itself restricted to the barn. A dry and well-ventilated location this provided an ideal storage for the car which up until the start of the winter was also covered but due to a storm this cover must have been blown off and thus the dust settled on the car. Don't be fooled, under that dust are soft rubbers, no cracks in the plastic, a car that starts and runs well and has all of the electrics functioning€¦ indeed if washed would look like any other well-preserved survivor 911 SC and at auction we have enlisted detailers to show you just how good. The last service was in late 2006 with Specialists GT One and we would advise that it would require some light recommissioning before using in anger, fan belts, new fuel and oil but the tyres are not cracked and when running gives very little indication of its sheltered last decade. Offered with an original book pack, a good history file with the original purchase invoice from No.5 Garage in 1985 and details of its more recent service coupled to Sorn notifications and ample MoT certificates. This really is a survivor even boasting the original pre-1985 silver wheel nut locks including both magnetic release tools and a car that has a great story and represents a very desirable black on black Sport specification low mileage low owner example€¦. A light recommissioning and perhaps returning the houndstooth trim would be in order but afterwards this would be a real collector's example for which viewing is highly recommended. 1990 Bentley Turbo R Transmission: automaticMileage:145000The Bentley Turbo R was a high-performance model produced from 1985 to 1997 with a total of 7,230 built in the 12 year production period. The 'R' stood for 'Roadholding', to set it apart from its predecessor, the Mulsanne and also sported a revised suspension with wider tyres on alloy wheels; a first for a Bentley. The suspension changes, although seemingly subtle, transformed the soft and less than well-controlled ride of the Mulsanne into that of a real performer. This was achieved by increasing the anti-roll bar rates in the front and rear and by increasing the damping. A Panhard rod to anchor the rear suspension was also introduced, reducing side-to-side movement in corners. The Turbo R was sold alongside the Mulsanne Turbo for a short time although the Mulsanne was taken out of production in 1985. For the 1987 model year, the Turbo R received anti-lock brakes and Bosch fuel injection replacing the Solex carburettors.First registered 16th January 1990 and supplied by Evans Halshaw, presented in Balmoral Green with full cream leather trim and ample wood veneer this is an all original example with the factory supplied Blaupunkt Sound System. Supplied with not only the original service booklet (full) it also boasts a continuation booklet which together display 19 stamped services, 17 with main dealers and the last at 137,840 miles. In the last decade the car has seen only minimum use covering just 2,500 miles over that time. The car this year has been lightly recommissioned and presents an ideal 90's Bentley for a modest outlay. Offered with the car is the original service and warranty booklets, MoT's and including the current MoT until September 2024 and V5 registration document. What better way to waft to and from the golf club or races than in a car that when new would have cost £115,000+. Consignor Mathew PriddyGuide Price £10,000-£16,000
1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Transmission: automaticMileage:19562Launched in 1962, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III and its Bentley S3 equivalent employed the 6.2 litre aluminium-alloy V8 engine first introduced in the Silver Cloud II although with larger carburettors, new distributor and raised compression ratio. It also came with a four speed GM derived automatic gearbox as standard equipment. Most obvious, among many changes from the preceding models, was the adoption of four headlamp lighting, the absence of sidelights from the wing tops and a slightly lower radiator shell. Inside, there was improved accommodation with separate front seats and increased room for rear passengers. Notable as the last mainstream Rolls-Royce to employ a separate chassis, the Silver Cloud III remained in production until superseded by the unitary-construction Silver Shadow in late 1965. The Cloud represented a supremely elegant design and is often regarded as the last true Rolls-Royce.This beautifully presented Cloud III was first registered on 3RD February 1964 and is now finished in a two tone blue over grey coachwork with complimentary grey leather trim. Owned since 2005 by our vendor's father, this was as described his pride and joy. This is demonstrated by the level of maintenance and expense lavished on SFU179 with Rolls Royce and Bentley specialist Harvey Wash Ltd most recently. The Paintwork shows little signs of age having clearly been restored and the woodwork is again in very good condition adding to the opulence. The leather seats in both the front and back are supportive and as to be expected, luxurious. Having been stored for a few years, the car performed very well on a recent short drive to Windsor for its photoshoot in the Royal Borough and the storage facility owned by a good friend of the owner's family stated that the car was started regularly. Supplied with V5C registration document, original handbook, a history file with recent invoices and with only 2,044 standard steel saloons built between 1962 and 1966, it is rare to find such a good example and estimated very reasonably. A car that was well loved by both the owner and his family and fitted with modern seatbelts front and back, this is a fabulously restored and very well cared for example.
2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 Transmission: manualMileage:54566At start of the 1990s, after the introduction of their two-seat, grand-tourer R129 SL and the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz set out to create a new compact roadster, slotted below the SL. By late 1991, under Bruno Sacco, the first design sketches were drawn up and scale models were built in the first half of 1992. Massively successful in its first year, worldwide sales hit 55,000, over double the entire nine-year production of 190 SLs and between 1996 and 2004, over 311,000 SLKs were sold. The roof design consists of a folding steel hardtop with both halves linked by a mechanism which is locked securely when the roof is closed. At the touch of a button on the centre console, a hydraulic system controls the fully automatic folding process in which the boot lid is also integrated.First registered on the 8th May 2003, this wonderful Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 unusually boasts a rare manual gearbox and even has parking sensors. Furthermore, the car has only covered 54,566 miles in its 20 year life. Presented in the attractive Magma red paintwork, it boasts nine service stamps in its accompanying official Mercedes-Benz service booklet, with the last being carried out only a couple of months ago. All the original booklets are supplied with the car along with the service booklet contained in their original booklet case. Reported to run and drive very well and still used regularly, this wonderful little car is only for sale due to a lack of space and is ready for its next owner to enjoy.Supplied with a V5C registration document, a MoT test certificate valid through July 2024, receipts and original stamped service book and handbook. A fun future classic in a rare specification makes this little Mercedes a car to be snapped up. Consigned by Will Penrose.Guide Price: £3,000-£5,000
1987 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:130000Mercedes-Benz first introduced an SL model in 1954 following an original idea by American importer, Max Hoffman who foresaw a market for a car tailored to affluent Americans in the booming post-war United States. It has remained in production, in various guises and model years in the seven decades since then, making the SL the second longest single series ever produced by the German manufacturer.Registered new on 16th April 1987 this well-presented example is offered in Paget Red over a cream interior and looks very well indeed. Purchased by the current vendor in 2012 the Mercedes has always been dry stored in his tenure and used occasionally on weekends and throughout the summer months. Fitted with a 4.2 litre V8 motor the Mercedes is offered with a sizeable history file containing various invoices, maintenance bills, old MoT records, the current UK registration document, and a new MoT valid until March 2025. This is a superb opportunity to acquire such a car and is offered with a very sensible estimate.
