A fine and large 19th century figured walnut and brass-strung/inlaid double-size writing slope; the top hinged section with central rectangular brass plaque engraved 'To B-A-C from M-C' within decorative scrolls and opening to reveal interior gilt-tooled leather writing surface, the lid with interior cleated board enclosing compartment space and with further plaque reading 'From J+K to A+K+C on his 21 birthday March 28-87', the main body panel lifting to reveal further compartment space and a spring-loaded full-width bar opening to reveal three 'secret' drawers, two inkwells with silver-plated lids, angular stamp compartment, removable concave quill/pen compartment and one further lidded compartment with circular engraved mother of pearl handle, some brass stringing away (55cm wide x 26.5cm deep x 17.5cm high). It is rare to find a presentation writing slope of this size and it is possible that it was specially commissioned.

Paar Louis XVI-Demi lune-KommodenHöhe: 86,5 cm. Breite: 147 cm. Tiefe: 56,5 cm. Signaturstempel: „F. Bury“ und „JVE“ (Ferdinand Bury, 1740 – 1795).Frankreich, zweite Hälfte 18. Jahrhundert.Auf trapezförmigem Grund kannelierte auslaufende Füße, den nahezu halbrunden Korpus tragend. Dieser frontal zweischübig mit darüberliegender dreischübiger Zone und flankierenden Schwingtüren mit darüberliegenden Schüben. Das Zentrum des Möbels risalitartig hervorspringend und ein in Würfelmarketerie gestaltetes Rundmedaillon, über die zwei unteren Schübe verteilt, zierend, mit umlaufendem Ormolu-Band. Die Züge der unteren beiden Schübe mit Ringhandhaben und zentralem Blütenmotiv. Über den vorderen Füßen scheinkannelierte Vorlagen mit Louis XVI-Kapitellen und eingestelltem Blattwerk. Die Zarge mit den insgesamt fünf Schüben mit Zick-Zack-Marketerie in reizvoller alternierender Gestaltung. Den Zügen des Möbels folgende gekehlte, weiß-grau geäderte Marmordeckplatte. Minimal rest. Manieristische große KassetteHöhe: 57 cm. Breite: 68 cm. Tiefe: 44 cm. Bodenseitig mit päpstlichem Wappen als Brandstempel. Italien, 16. Jahrhundert.Rechteckiger kastenförmiger Korpus in architektonischer Auffassung mit einem figürlich gestalteten Mittelfeld mit Darstellung der Anbetung der Könige. Daneben eventuell portraithaft wiedergegebene Mitglieder der Familie, welche die Kassette in Auftrag gegeben haben mag. Das Bildfeld flankiert von Pilastern mit angedeuteten Kapitellen und eingestellten Rundbögen mit Muschelungen und Evangelistenreliefs. Diese polychrom gefasst und von Wappenreliefs unterfangen, welche von ornamentalen Fruchtfestons und Cherubim verbunden werden. Die Seiten mit Wappenrelief, von Lorbeerblattkranz umfangen, auf blauem Fond mit Goldradierungen. Scharnierdeckel sich verjüngend und oben das gleiche Wappen auf blauem Fond wiedergeben. Der Deckel und der Korpus mit vergoldetem Pastiglia-Dekor. Inwandig partiell rot gefasst. Der Kasten von Nicolo Ursino v. Giolfino d. J. (1476-1555), die Wappen werden der Familie Burali d’Arezzo zugeschrieben. Die Bildfelder mit Temperamalerei. Das rückwärtige Panel datiert „A.D.MDLV.“ (1555) mit Inschrift „quando uno pavaro amico ridona una piccolo dono ricellvino piaciell volemente et frarte a morte di ringrazialo vivamente“ (Wenn ein amer Freund dir eine kleines Geschenk gibt empfange es dankbar und danke ihm in Freundschaft bis zum Tode herzlich). Die Kassette mag entstanden sein anlässlich der Hochzeit von Paolo Burali d’Arezzo und Vittoria Olivares von Barcelona, Eltern des Kardinals Paolo Burali d’Arezzo. Die Evangelistenreliefs könnten sich am Stundenbuch der Anne de Bretagne (1477-1514) orientieren.Literatur: Vgl. The casket may have been commissioned on the occasion of the wedding between Paolo Burali d’Arezzo and Vittoria Olivares of Barcelona, the parents of Cardinal Paolo Burali d’Arezzo. Bedeutender Vermeil-Tafelaufsatz aus dem Besitz von Kaiser Napoleon III, später gerettet aus dem Brand des Palais des Tuileries in 1871Höhe: 26,5 cm. Länge: 29,5 cm.Tiefe: 4,5 cm.Gewicht: 2.877g. Paris, Zeit des Zweiten Kaiserreichs.Silber, vergoldet (Vermeil). Beachtenswert schwere Silberguss-Ausführung, feuervergoldet, in Form eines Schiffes, getragen von einem Basilisken mit Flügeln, Krallen und geschwungenem Schweif, über ovalem Sockel, auf rechteckiger Basis. Der oval-längsgezogene, schiffförmige Aufsatz an den Schmalseiten besetzt mit vollplastischen Köpfen - einem Widderkopf sowie einer mischfigurigen Satyrbüste mit weiblichen Brüsten, männlichem, lächelndem Gesicht, lang zugespitzten Ohren und einem Kopfbund im Haar. Die Schultern ziehen als blattförmige Flügel über den Gefäßrand hin, gefolgt von einem weiteren Flügelpaar, das sich von der geschweiften Randung erhebt. An beiden Seiten der Wandung ein Stierkopf im Halbrelief flankiert von attributierenden Werkzeugen wie Spaten, Pickel, Rechen und Dreschflegeln sowie auf der Gegenseite Ährenbündel mit Sichel und Trauben mit Winzermesser. Damit ist das eigentliche allegorische Thema der Prunkschale bezeichnet, nämlich als Symbolik für Ackerbau, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau, Grundlagen für das Volkswohl. Diese Bildthematik, aber auch die höchst aufwändige Ausführung und der hochwertige Materialaufwand, zwingen zur Annahme, dass das Gefäß nur in höchstem höfischem Auftrag gefertigt werden konnte. Sämtliche Details, wie etwa die Blattfestons, Flügel, Haar oder Fell der Rinderköpfe fein nachgearbeitet. Alle Guss-Einzelteile mit Silberpunzen gemarkt (Silberfeingehaltsmarke Paris, männlicher Kopf nach links sowie Steuerfreigabestempel, weiblicher Kopf nach links). A. Anmerkung: Nach der Familientradition wurde dieser Tafelaufsatz von Kaiser Napoleon III an Doktor Auguste Nélaton (1807-1873), Professor für klinische Chirurgie, Mitglied der Akademie der Medizin und Gründer der Gesellschaft für Chirurgie, übergeben. Er war auch der Chirurg von Napoleon III, der Garibaldi erfolgreich behandelte (und ihn vor einer Amputation bewahrte). Remarkably heavy, fire-gilt silver casting in the shape of a ship carried by a basilisk with wings, claws and curved tail on oval pedestal over rectangular base. All details such as foliage festoons, wings, hair and fur of the bovine heads have been finely reworked. All individual pieces bear silver hallmarks (Paris hallmark, male head to the left and female head to the left and tax exemption stamp).
