Drtikol’s nudes show development from pictorialism and symbolism to modern composite pictures of the nude body, with geometric decorations and thrown shadows, where one finds a number of parallels with the avant-garde works of his epoch. These often are reminiscent of Cubism, and at the same time the nudes suggest the kind of movement that was characteristic of the futurism aesthetic. An extremely rare proof (1 of 3) before letters. Cream wove paper. The full sheet, deckle edges four sides. An excellent impression. Condition: good; some foxing and browning with color attenuation; no serious problems. Literature/catalogue raisonne: See: Beraldi, Volume 8, pg. 229; IFF2; B4. Provenance: Ex-collection Cortlandt F. We could find only three sales at auction, all with letters, in the past 25 years, the last in 1995 (sold at $1,168). The print shows a part of the Boulevard du Temple, then called the Boulevard du Crime. "Jean Pierre Marie Jazet was one of the most prominent aquatint engravers of the Napoleonic era. He worked almost exclusively in aquatint, reproducing the paintings of the grand Republican artists such as David, Vernet, de Gros, and Grenier. Although the majority of his prints were patriotic images, he also produced many fine aquatints of pastoral paintings and genre scenes. His fresh images exhibit the beauty of the medium and exemplify his amazing technical ability. Eines von 4 (+1 AP) unikatären Exemplaren. - Von prächtiger Farbigkeit und in leuchtend-filigranen Zustand. - Hukuda ist ein japanischer Künstler, der der japanischen Kunstschule "Ryuhu" entspringt und mit seinem Werk die traditionelle Bildkultur Japans mit Modellen der konzeptuellen Moderne der westlichen Welt vereint. Zu seinem Personalstil zählt der betörend zarte Umgang mit Blattsilber und Jod, aus denen vielschichtige Monochrome wie die vorliegende Arbeit entstehen. Signiert und nummeriert sowie in der Platte durchnummeriert und betitelt. - Sehr kräftiger, gratiger Abzug mit schönem Plattenrand. Eines von 38 Exemplaren. - Aus dem Portfolio "Set of twen", welches 10 Radierungen umfasst, die auf Gemälden von Winters basieren. Für das Portfolio wurde jeder Druck von einer einzigen Platte gedruckt. Dieser besteht aus einer zentralen Form, die am oberen und unteren Rand jeweils von einem dunklen Rand eingerahmt ist. Die Nummer, die die Position der einzelnen Drucke in der Serie angibt, ist in die Platte geätzt und erscheint auf der linken unteren Seite jedes Werks spiegelverkehrt. - Hg. Universal Art Editions (mit dem Blindstempel "ULAE"). - Die von Winters' in schweren, geschichteten Zeichen beschriebenen Formen haben eine fast architektonische Struktur, gleichzeitig sind sie aber auch organisch oder zellulär. Winters bezeichnet diese Formen in seinem Werk als Schriftzeichen oder Zeichen, ähnlich wie Kalligraphie. Im Entstehungsprozess reagiert er dabei auf sich entwickelnde Muster und lagert Gesten und Zeichen übereinander, um seine Werke zu erschaffen. Diese betrachetet er als "eine Art zu denken", wobei Winters die Formen seiner Arbeiten absichtlich mehrdeutig gestaltet. Mehrheitlich verso mit dem Künstlerstempel. Viele punktuell auf Unterlage, wenige unter Passepartout montiert. Teils verso mit weiteren Zeichnungen bzw. Skizzen. - Teils etwas unregelmäßig an Kanten beschnitten. Vereinzelt mit wenigen, leichten Braunfleckchen. Insgesamt jedoch in wohlerhaltenem Zustand. Schöne Arbeiten mit skizzenhaftem Charakter. Aus der Sammlung Nachlass Helmut Hadré. - Neben der Darstellung von Menschen ist Wilhelm Focke vor allem für seine leidenschaftlichen Pferdedarstellungen bekannt. Schon sein Freund Max Liebermann stellte in typischen Berliner Jargon fest, wie herausragend die Pferdedarstellungen waren, indem er über sie sagte: "...nee Focke, det kann ick nich!" (Zit. n. W.
