Dallas, first edition in English, wood-engraved illustrations, title and final f. lightly browned, original green cloth, a few marks or light small stains, overall a very good clean and bright copy, 8vo, 1869.⁂ An explanation of Darwin's evolutionary theory through the natural history of crustaceans. Darwin was so impressed by the work that he paid for Murray his publisher to print it and bind it in the same green cloth and style as his early editions of Origin of the Species.Provenance: Theodora Ramsbusch (ink stamp to endpapers and signature to head of title).

Eric Craig was a dealer in tribal artefacts, curios and natural history specimens.

Eric Gerald Stanley b/p. together with als. from Tagore to Mrs Stuart Moore in black ink on two sides dated 4 Nov. 1913 (The year he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature). In his letter he discusses the merits of literacy criticism and the poetry of Kabir (1440-1518), the last sentence reads:- 'You must have noticed in Kabir's poems an absolute freedom from all denominational taints which is not always the case with those of others but still have the strength of vitality to raise their heads far above the entanglements of the dense undergrowth of the traditional forms into the clear atmosphere of spiritual realization' Note: Evelyn Stuart Moore (née Underhill 1875-1941) (2)
