Apart from a few tears to d/w, this book is in very good condition indeed. Here are the Kalahari solitudes and the lonely stretches of the Orange River - but always the characters stand out against the back-ground. Explorers, hunters, half-castes, Bushmen, pioneer farmers, policemen, outlaws, priests, trekboers, prospectors; these are the people of the book and the river is the thread that links them. `To The River`s End` received glowing reviews in newspapers throughout the Union and Rhodesia. `Lawrence G. Frontispiece of William Finaughty, aged about 70 at the time. Library rubber stamp to Title verso, but furthermore clean throughout , i.e., no paste-downs or further markings. A very nice tight and clean copy. The journals and experiences of William Finaughty, one of the most successful, professional elephant hunters of southern Africa, with about 500 kills over his career all with a large caliber muzzle-loading rifle.
