[EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.]: (1890-1969) American General of World War II, later American President 1953-61. An unusual First Day Cover commemorating Eisenhower and featuring his portrait, individually signed by each of the twelve Honorary Pall Bearers at his funeral, comprising Edgar Eisenhower (1889-1971) American Lawyer, elder brother of Dwight Eisenhower, Milton Eisenhower (1899-1985) American Educational Administrator, younger brother of Dwight Eisenhower, Omar Bradley (1893-1981) American General of World War II, J. Lawton Collins (1896-1987) American General of World War II, Lauris Norstad (1907-1988) American General in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, Wade Haislip (1889-1971) American General of World War II, Alfred Gruenther (1899-1983) American General of World War II, Leonard Heaton (1902-1983) American Surgeon General who served in World War II, George W. Anderson (1906-1992) American Admiral who served in World War II, Lewis Strauss (1896-1974) American Businessman & Philanthropist, a major figure in the development of nuclear weapons and power in America, G. Gordon Moore ( - ) American Colonel, brother-in-law of Eisenhower and John Moaney (1914-1978) American Army officer, Eisenhower's personal valet. All have signed in bold blue or black inks with their names alone, largely to clear areas. The cover bears a postage stamp featuring Eisenhower's portrait and is postmarked at Abilene, Kansas, 14th October 1969. VG Eisenhower was interred on 2nd April 1969 in a small chapel in the grounds of the Eisenhower Presidential Library in his hometown of Abilene in Kansas. He was buried as a General of the Army. There were ten Honorary Pall Bearers at Eisenhower's funeral service in Washington DC on 31st March 1969, all but one of whom also served as Honorary Pall Bearers for Eisenhower's interment. Milton Eisenhower fell ill and was hospitalised for the latter event and was replaced by General Andrew Goodpaster.

Canada. 1938 10ct rose-carmine mint horizontal pair with a paper join, resulting in the entire left stamp and a third of the right stamp being double thickness (almost like cardboard). The join was effected prior to gumming, resulting in an ungummed streak by the join on the right stamp. Unusual. SG 363/CW 7
Ceylon. Revenues. 1941 100r purple and blue, line perf 14, used with manuscript and small punch cancellations; slight colour diffusion. (The puncture in the surface was made by a small circular device which impressed the stamp onto the document.) Rare. KG VI Expertising Certificate (2014). Barefoot 12 var.
Hong Kong. 1954-62 set of fourteen plus all SG-listed shades in unmounted mint blocks of four, many with Plate number or Requisition letter or both. We note 10ct lilac Req. A; both $2 Plate blocks; first $5 Req. A; second $5 Plate 1-1 and Req. Q. Fine, save for 20ct and first 25ct blocks each with minor signs of ageing, and the first $10 block having a surface thin on the lower right stamp, this stamp and the 25ct and 30ct blocks not counted in SG valuation at £1909. India. 1854-5 4a blue and red horizontal pair from second printing, Head II, Frame 1, a very large pair showing some of the wavy lines on all four sides and with portions of all six rosettes visible. Some staining from gum and an apparent repair above 'IN' on the right-hand stamp, nonetheless scarce and attractive. SG 19 (£3500)
India. 1860 8p purple on white paper, a mint vertical imperforate pair from the lower right corner of the upper right pane. A large portion of the selvedge at right is present, with inscription OF HER MAJESTY. The lower stamp is touched by a horizontal crease at top, but this is a rare and beautiful piece. India. 1926-33 mint multiple watermark values with perforation variations. 3p slate marginal pair (some toned spots) with the right stamp imperforate at right (may be a 'jump'); ½a block of eight, a bit aged, showing horizontal perforations fully doubled; ½a horizontal strip of five, also slightly aged, showing vertical perforations fully doubled (two stamps with Calcutta Philatelic Co. guarantee across the reverse), and 1a unmounted corner single with a full misplaced strike of the comb at an angle. India. Officials. 1925 1r on 25r orange and blue, fine mint with surcharge inverted, light overall toning as usual. At the time of describing the stamp, it has an interpanneau margin above, but this is virtually separated from the stamp and potential buyers are advised that it may well become detached during viewing.
