Two old black and white Photographs, one 9 3/4'' x 7 3/4'' of a Westland 5-51 Dragonfly Helicopter understood to be being flown by Alan Bristow delivery urgent supplies in bad weather to the Wolf Rack lighthouse keepers at a time when surface deliveries were precluded by bad weather. Landing pads at this time did not exist and deliveries had to be lowered whilst hovering. Alan Bristow was awarded the Royal Aeronautical Society's Silver Medal for this feat in February 1948. Numbered in pencil verso M4404 Q/3 and with ''Graphic Photo Union'' copyright stamp; and a Graphic Photo Union stamped black and white Photograph numbered M4363I, a part sheet print a panoramic view of the Thames with the Palace of Westminster and Lambeth Palace, the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
